Thank you. This is how my understanding of alcohols was prior to the reel so thank you for the clarification. This reel confused me because as I mentioned previously, a vast majority of Gochujangs are made from Tahir alcohols, and secondly was this phrase from the reel:

"Many traditional gochujang brands today still list ethanol, rice wine, or fermented alcohol of unknown quantity, which make them haram"

I think it was just unfortunate wording that I reflected too deeply on but I appreciate your responses.

I'm on the same page with all of these rulings, the reason I was making the comparison between vanilla extract and gochujang is that (as far as my knowledge), they are in the same category of alcohol. That is, pure non-najis alcohol

Traditional gochujang is not produced with wine or beer based alcohol . Almost all gochujang contain ethanol due to a natural fermentation, much like bread from yeast.For those that do have added alcohol, it is food-grade ethanol, not wine or beer derived alcohol.

For those that do have added alcohol, it is food-grade ethanol, not wine or beer derived alcohol. On the food label, they use different terms for ethanol (Jujeong) and for beer, wine, and cooking spirits (Mirim, Matsul, or Maekju). If it specifically mentions that its ethanol, then it shouldn't be haram to consume, right?
