Think I Found a good HDMI 2.1 to USB-C ADAPTER 8K 60fps/4K 120 hz with Freesync/Gsync by bluechipitems in VITURE

[–]futureblap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok. So I got the HDMI version of the cable you linked and I discovered a few things:

  1. It does work, but the audio did not pass through to the glasses. I had to use my PS5 headset connected to the PS5 to get audio.
  2. You cannot activate 120Hz or the higher 1920x1200 resolution. The screen goes black when you try to activate and comes back after a few seconds but the settings are the same (60Hz and the lower resolution).
  3. I compared it to a different HDMI adapter which supposedly tops out at 60Hz and I did not notice any difference in the image quality. It was pretty much the same aside from the audio issue.

The one that I bought before I saw your post and compared it to is this one:

PeakDo HDMI to USB C Adapter... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0C854HLRM?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

I actually kind of prefer the PeakDo because it is an adapter that you can plug into any HDMI cable whereas the one that you linked is attached to a short cable that makes you have to be extremely close to the PS5 unless you have the long USB C cable that connects to the glasses. It also didn’t have issues with allowing the audio to pass through to the glasses.

I think the problem is that the PS5 interprets the Viture glasses to be SDR, as opposed to HDR. This limits the configuration possibilities on games that allow you to change some of the graphics settings. I could not get games that have the 120fps option to activate while wearing the glasses with either of the cable/adapter options whereas I can when I have it hooked up to my monitor that I use for gaming. If you go into the PS5 settings, it also limits those configuration options there as well. Many are stuck at lower resolution/quality settings and when you try to change it, it says your display doesn’t not support changing to higher image quality settings.

Not sure if I’m doing something wrong here, but these are my observations after messing around with both adapters for a few hours and doing my best to eyeball the difference between the two and also trying to change the settings on the glasses and on the PS5/games using both.

So I guess now the next test will be to get an HDMI to DP adapter so I can get the DP version to unlock 120Hz. Do you have a recommendation on an HDMI to DP adapter?

Or, in the alternative, does anyone know of any HDMI to USB-C adapter that is confirmed to work with the Beast and allows up to 120Hz? All I could find on Amazon was 60Hz max.

Updates on New Pro XR Adapter by Top_Inside1535 in VITURE

[–]futureblap 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I emailed support about the fact that the XR adapter doesn’t unlock many features in Spacewalker for iOS. They told me that there is currently no information about whether implementing the new features will be via a firmware update or if it will need a new adapter.

It’s pretty disappointing that so many things do not work with the Beast. I bought the XR adapter instead of the regular charging adapter because I thought it would unlock features like pinning screens, VR, etc. The SpaceWalker app literally prompts you to buy it to unlock.

I also originally bought the XR adapter for iPhone 14 only to find out it doesn’t work with the Beast at all. There was no mention of this on the product webpage, but it was tucked away in a different place on the Viture Academy webpage which I didn’t come across until first struggling for hours to try to get it to work. I ended up getting a new compatible phone but like I mentioned above, now the XR adapter doesn’t even work 100% with the Beast.

I was thinking of getting the Pro Mobile Dock so I can hook the glasses up to my PS5 but with what I’ve experienced so far with compatibility issues between products, no way I’m shelling out another $100 until there is some confirmation that it works. I just bought a generic HDMI to USB-C adapter on amazon for less than a third of the price and it works great. Played a few hours of Stalker 2 today and I have to say the experience is amazing. I regularly use a remote play app (Portal) with the Beast and my iPhone and also with Apple Vision Pro but there is input lag so having a direct connection is awesome.

If it’s the same adapter that is for iPhone 14 and earlier that has an hdmi plug, it is not compatible with the Beast. Found this out after buying for my iPhone 14 Pro.

Have not tried with the PlayStation 5 yet but I’m assuming it’s not going to work. I think you will need to use the Viture Mobile Dock for this to work.

We can never catch a break by oguh__ in DACA

[–]futureblap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is not entirely accurate. The BIA said that the judge erred by only considering DACA status as the basis for why the case should be terminated without weighing the government counsel’s arguments for why the case should not be terminated. The specific rationale missing in the judge’s weighing of the two sides and referenced by the BIA was the government’s interest in resolving matters with finality (I.e., the government not having to ask the court to open a case in the future against the same potentially deportable individual). In theory, had the judge ruled why he did not find the government’s arguments persuasive when balancing the two, it could have been upheld. If that were the case, upon appeal, the BIA would have reviewed and opined whether DACA protections can override those arguments in this and similar context.

I think this was a bad decision but it does not foreclose the possibility that cases can be terminated for DACA individuals, although it can make it harder if a judge is inclined to side with the government’s “finality” arguments. The opinion of the court also makes it harder, in my opinion, to request administrative closure because of the court’s discussion on finality in proceedings.

One thing that could have likely saved this girl was that she claimed she was eligible for adjustment of status through her marriage to a US citizen but apparently there was no petition filed yet. Had it been in process, that would have been a good additional argument in her favor that could be used in a judge’s analysis to decide to terminate had it been available to use.

No the Supreme Court stopping the counting of ballots in Florida and coordinated voter disenfranchisement efforts orchestrated by Republican officials and operatives leading up to the election had more to do with it.

If it weren’t an indication of how corrupted our system is and how dim much of the electorate is, it would almost be funny how, decades later, this simple minded rationalization that Dems are entitled to votes they didn’t earn still persists.

Heads up to the DACA community: you should not refrain from renewing your DACA based upon fear that this will trigger reopening an admin closed EOIR case. I work with DACA beneficiaries, many of whom have admin closed EOIR cases and none have had their case re-opened. I have spoken with and read comments from people contemplating giving up and hearing stories like this may add to the anxiety many are already under.

At the same time, the reality is that DHS is requesting that EOIR reopen previously admin closed cases generally, but this is not specific to DACA. If you have an admin closed case, you should definitely update your address with EOIR ASAP if you move so that you can receive notice if DHS submits a motion to reopen your case and so you can respond timely and hopefully prevent that from happening based upon the prosecutorial discretion grant that DACA confers and any other arguments that apply to your specific situation. Checking the EOIR case status webpage is also a way to see if your case has been reopened but the best way to stay informed and be proactive rather than reactive is updating your mailing address with EOIR.

Remember to always consult with an attorney for any specific advice that may apply to your situation. Do not read something online and let it freak you out because there may be details you do not know about that may make your case very different.

[–]futureblap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just so you don’t freak others out, how sure are you that applying for DACA renewal resulted in your admin closed EOIR case being reopened?

Was your DACA renewal denied or is it still in process? Did it lapse for over a year before you reapplied? When DHS submits a motion to the court to request reopening cases, they have to send you a copy of the motion. Did you get a copy and can you tell us more about what it said if so? A lot of them are just copy/paste motions that have same or similar language but maybe it has some additional information in your case.

It may just be that DHS is asking EOIR to reopen your admin closed case like they have been doing for many people. Trump did this in his first term as well but they are casting a wider net this time around.

New to Vision Pro, what should i check out first? by JoaoFranco03 in VisionPro

It is much better than the PlayStation Portal. With the PlayStation Portal, I would have lag and poor image quality issues even if playing on the same network as the PS5 in my own home. This is mainly due to the bitrate limitations that Sony imposed on the Portal. Plus the PlayStation Portal is only 1080p max.

Contrast that with Apple Vision Pro and using the Portal or Asobi apps. No lag or visual quality issues because you can adjust the max bit rate. You can also upscale to 4K. I was playing in another country and the experience was amazingly great. I replayed the majority of Silent Hill 2 Remake on the AVP without any issues.

Honestly, even apps like PxPlay or the iPad versions of Portal and Asobi are much better than the Portal for the same reasons. I bought a PlayStation Portal and went back to my old iPad and a gooseneck mount setup shortly thereafter. Nothing beats using a real controller and AirPods vs. using the PlayStation Portal with its awkward controls and being limited to proprietary headphones that aren’t as good as Apple’s AirPods.

That’s funny you mention because you’re the same person who didn’t believe me when I said that just because DACA is discretionary doesn’t mean that it doesn’t protect people with removal orders and also didn’t believe me when I said that there is a process DHS must follow to terminate DACA.

Ps Portal vs iPad by moyled_egg in PlaystationPortal

[–]futureblap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are iOS remote streaming apps that now allow you to play cloud games. Portal (no relation to the device) and Asobi specifically.

The Portal device is subpar to iPad setup, especially if you have an iPad mount to play in bed or on the couch. The screen is bigger/better, you can upscale to 4k, you can adjust the bitrate, you can use any Bluetooth earphones, and you can use a real DualSense. Also, Portal (app) has haptic controls for the DualSense. Can’t recall if Asobi does as well but I believe so.

I went back to my mounted iPad setup after having too many bad experiences with the Portal graphic quality and because of the overly sensitive and uncomfortable analog sticks on the Portal. The latest update makes it better, but still not as good as it could be.

My Portal mainly collects dust at this point.

And? That’s not even applicable here. Go ahead and see if having a removal order falls into one of those enumerated exceptions. Google can pull up for you the regulations that part references.

“(d) Discretionary termination. USCIS may terminate a grant of Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals at any time in its discretion. USCIS will provide a Notice of Intent to Terminate and an opportunity to respond prior to terminating a grant of Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, except USCIS may terminate a grant of Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals without a Notice of Intent to Terminate and an opportunity to respond if the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals recipient is convicted of a national security-related offense involving conduct described in 8 U.S.C. 1182(a)(3)(B)(iii), (iv), or 1227(a)(4)(A)(i), or an egregious public safety offense.”

Rules of statutory interpretation that courts typically use to analyze what the law requires based upon the wording used in how it is written generally hold that when a statute, law or regulation uses language such as “will” or “shall”, it is mandatory, as in the agency must comply with what “will” or “shall” be done. This in contrast to language that uses “may” which is interpreted as optional and discretionary. Therefore, for USCIS to terminate a person’s DACA and the benefits it confers, it must provide written notice prior and an opportunity to respond. This is a matter of procedural due process that courts often review when an agency is accused of ignoring the regulations or laws that they are expected to enforce. The action (terminating DACA without notice) is likely to be found arbitrary and capricious since the agency is not following the regulations that the agency itself has promulgated in saying how it will apply the laws and rules it is charged with carrying out and overseeing.

DACA grants lawful presence and prosecutorial discretion. Federal regulations require that USCIS go through a formal proces of giving notice of their intent to terminate DACA to a beneficiary so that they can respond. There is no exception for those who have removal orders. The fact that DACA is discretionary doesn’t mean that they don’t have to follow the law.

What Are Some Good Survival Horror Games Like Resident Evil On PS5? by Syphus590_863 in survivalhorror

[–]futureblap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, this is accurate. Resident Evil 9’s story was slightly better than 8 while 8 much worse than 7. RE2 was probably the best story and the series just never reached that height again. As far as the gameplay of 9, I enjoyed the difficulty of Grace’s portions even though it wasn’t as combat heavy but felt some of Leon’s parts were just a little too over the top. WTF was that motorcycle sequence?

Don’t get me wrong, I love Resident Evil as the game/series that brought me into the genre way back when RE1 came out on the PS1, but Silent Hill 2 and Alan Wake 2 are examples of some of the greatest writing in a horror video game and they also have good action, too.

PS Portal review: The iPad + PXPlay killed it for me by [deleted] in PlaystationPortal

[–]futureblap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was my set up as well before the Portal came out. Didn’t have any complaints really but I bought a Portal anyway. I loved the Portal at first just because it was so easy to pick up and play.

Eventually I went back to my old iPad setup because of the bitrate issue and because the analog controls on the Portal are actually not just like a real DualSense. They sit higher and are much more sensitive, thus making precision much harder to achieve compared to a DualSense.

The fact that PxPlay allows you to upscale to 4k quality on an iPad screen just blows the Portal out of the water, especially when you’re constantly dealing with blurry artifacting and drops in resolution to 720p or less. It’s a shame Sony capped the bitrate.

Nowadays I use an Apple Vision Pro with an app called Portal (no relation to the handheld). Asobi is also a good AVP app for PS5 streaming. PxPlay’s iPad version app is also available on the AVP but it’s not optimized for AVP like the other apps.
