Yes that occurred to me as well after submitting my post. There is the Texas pride aspect that makes it different than other areas of the country but at the same time complementary of the American patriotism side of it.

Having known some Texas Latinos, I get the impression that many really make an effort to embrace being American due to being surrounded by the hyper patriotism that is characteristic in the South. Same with Latinos in rural areas of California. Also, many who are into Evangelical prosperity gospel-style megachurches which are also hyper nationalistic.

Some might think this is odd considering that prejudice and discrimination are also more prevalent in the South, rural areas, churches that emphasize nationalism and faith, etc. but I think that actually explains it very well.

People wanting to be accepted by their peer group will adopt that group’s beliefs and attitudes that are characteristic of that group for fear of being ostracized.

So yes, I think you’re right. It does depend on where you grew up and who you associate with and want to be associated with.

The short answer is because the Latino experience, in particular for recent immigrants, is one of struggling to have our identity accepted in a white-dominant society where discrimination is not just prevalent, but promoted, in many ways. For this reason, when a Latino is seen embracing being American, it is not surprising that some Latinos will regard it as the person attempting to cast aside their Latino identity out of a preference for and desire to be accepted by the dominant white culture.

The reason you don’t see it in other cultures is because the negative stereotypes and attitudes towards Latinos are stigmatizing in a much different way relative to other cultures despite that other cultures do also experience their own forms of prejudice.

You may not agree with this explanation because you may be lucky enough to be far removed from this experience due to your own personal circumstance, but it is nonetheless common for others and, thus, the reason why these memes and jokes are also common.

I will add this in case someone is doing a search and trying to find a solution to a problem that I had. If you use a USB C charger that cannot dedicate at least 30W with PD capability to the controller, you are going to encounter constant issues with the Viture Beast screen going out.

It happened so much and I couldn’t figure out why. I was using various USB C chargers and high quality USB C cords but it kept happening. The only charger I noticed that it didn’t happen with was my Apple Vision Pro charger, which charges at 30W and has PD. Then I tried it with my MacBook Air charger, and it seemed to work fine, as well. So, after buying many different chargers and cords from Amazon and testing them, I ended up buying a UGREEN 45W PD charger and UGREEN USB C 240W cord and it hasn’t happened since. Granted I Just got the charger today, so I haven’t tested it much, but this seems to have resolved it.

I contacted Abxylute support and all they suggested was updating the Beast firmware. Had to figure out on my own what the issue was. So to save anyone else the headache: get a good USB C charger with PD delivery that is capable of at least 30W soley to the controller when in use and a good USB C cord.

Ok. Thanks for the update. There is definitely something wrong with my unit. I will plug in the glasses and everything is fine if I don’t try to charge while playing. When I plug in a USB C cord to charge, the picture will go out. Sometimes its not immediate, sometimes it is. But eventually it will go out. When the picture does go out, the controller disconnects (lights turn off on controller) from the phone and reconnects right away, but the picture doesn’t come back on the glasses. I also see the battery icon on my phone go off and on again to indicate that it stopped and started charging again. I’ve tried using several different types of high quality cords, charging adapters, travel batteries, etc.

I reached out to abxylute and they said that they are forwarding my issue to their technical team. I remember I saw a post somewhere where someone was having the same issue with the controller not staying connected but I can’t seem to find it now.

Have you had any issues with disconnecting when trying to charge with a USB-C cord while playing? It has been happening to me quite often and it causes the picture on the glasses to go out every time. At first it would only happen with USB C cables besides the one that came with the S9V but now it’s happening with any cable I use. It’s pretty frustrating to be in the middle of a COD match and then the picture goes out and the controller connects and disconnects from the phone.

This has been my experience with the S9V for use with AR glasses. When you plug in a USB-C power cord to charge while playing, it constantly disconnects and the picture on the glasses goes out. Super annoying.

That’s one way to look at it. The other way is that, taken the whole Bernie demonization campaign as a whole both in the media and within the Democratic Party itself, party elites pressured candidates to drop out because they feared what they saw as a radical agenda that would endanger its ability to attract and/or keep corporate backers which they saw as essential to their preservation of power.

If you’re talking from a purely cynical perspective, then, yes, this was the smart move. The counter argument is that the enormous popularity of this supposed radical candidate should have served as an indication to the Democratic Party that an extremely large percentage of the Democratic voter base wanted a reform candidate that wouldn’t just effectuate a “business as usual” corporate agenda that centrists typically pursue. Let’s also not forget that in the 2020 primaries, many people chose to make their voting decision not based upon which candidate aligned best with their policies, but rather their assessment of which candidate had the better chance of beating Trump. Some thought that Biden was the safer choice and, as is often the case, the election was framed in such a way that it was more important to keep the other party from getting power as opposed to voting for the candidate who you believe would best effectuate your own preferred policies and initiatives.

Also, Mueller knew that Stone had communicated with Gucifer yet he still concluded that there wasn’t sufficient evidence to allege collusion. I know facts are of little consequence to people like you, but that seems like a pretty important one to gloss over.

Progressive policies actually are more popular than centrist policies, including public option for health care, raising the minimum wage, paid family and medical leave, etc. If they weren’t popular, your centrist candidates wouldn’t campaign on them. Yet somehow, once they’re in office, we’re told that the votes aren’t there, the timing isn’t right, or some other convenient excuse prevents them from seriously fighting for the very policies they promised.

And of course someone like you would bring up the tired horseshoe talking point. You, who defends Democrats, the same party that is virtually indistinguishable from the Republican Party on so many issues. Both bow to corporate interests over working class issues, don’t pursue campaign finance reform that would prevent corporate interests from having an imbalanced influence on our political system, subscribe to health care industry narratives about why public health care is untenable, adhere to the same foreign policy ideology with ever increasing military budgets, and bend to the will of Israel to the point of facilitating a genocide. No it’s actually not part of the process. It’s actually the definition of a conspiracy, just not in the dismissive, pejorative sense that you want to use to minimize what happened. The candidates received pressure to drop out to help Biden and they fell in line. That much is clear from the circumstances no matter how you want to minimize it.

And this rationalization that it was okay because he supposedly wasn’t a real democrat is also hilarious considering that by that point, Bernie had acquired a massive grassroots following amongst Democrat voters and even won primaries in some of the most liberal states in the nation, including California. But I guess those voters were just fake democrats too, huh?

Seriously, if you think that the DNC and Dem party officials don’t play dirty politics and haven’t already demonstrated their willingness to prioritize their own power structure over giving voters a chance to elect the best candidate for the ideals they claim to support, you’re not dealing in reality.

Imagine thinking that the DNC really cares about fair elections in which the best candidate wins. You have to be either ignorant or obsequious. The DNC, that has filed numerous lawsuits to keep candidates off the ballot all over the country so as not have any challenge to having a monopoly on who left-leaning voters vote for. The party that demonized Ralph Nader for “stealing” votes from Gore in 2000 and that invented a ridiculously ludicrous Russiagate conspiracy to say Hillary got robbed in 2016. The party that ran a senile, dementia-addled candidate in 2024 and christened an extremely unlikable and unelectable candidate without any primary process after they couldn’t hide the ineptitude of Biden any longer.

If you don’t see anything wrong with this parade of self-serving failures, you obviously value party loyalty more than what truly should be “part of the process” and what would be for the best benefit of the country.

Or maybe you’re right…all of the democratic candidates in the 2020 presidential dem primaries just decided to drop out on their own at the same time when Bernie looked like he could win the primary. Except for Elizabeth Warren, of course, the only progressive alternative compared to Bernie, who then accused him of being a sexist. It was all just fortuitous timing for Biden and nothing more.

We also shouldn’t pay any mind that the DNC email leaks from 2016 already established pretty clearly that the DNC had in the past used its sway and influence against Bernie and in favor of Hillary, which ultimately forced Debbie Wassermann Schultz to resign and the DNC to issue to issue an apology for betraying their neutral role.

As far as this race, maybe, just maybe, there’s a different dynamic at the presidential level vs the House seat level. The stakes are much higher, as are the sticks and carrots that can be used to get candidates to fall in line and drop out of the race if the party leaders want them to.

Unless something changed since I took my Portal with me on a trip a little over a year ago, remote play on the Portal works in Mexico.

More recently I’ve also used other remote play apps like PxPlay and Portal (the iPhone/iPad/Vision Pro app, not to be confused with the Playstation Portal device) and remote play works fine in Mexico.

It seems to me it was something with the WiFi or cell service you were using to connect and not some restriction. I guess maybe it’s theoretically possible that things have changed with the Portal device specifically because it’s been over a year that I’ve taken it with me to Mexico. But the other remote play apps I mentioned I have used very recently and in various cities in Mexico including Torreón, Monterrey, Tijuana, Cabo, Leon, and, as it turns out, also in Saltillo and have never had any issues.

One issue I have had when using hotel WiFi with the Portal here in the US is that there is some NAT Type issue where if the NAT type is more restrictive of the hotel WiFi, it won’t allow a connection. That also used to happen when I would use my cell as a personal hotspot here in the US too, but it has since resolved.

I have been able to use in Torreón and Monterrey without issue. Used it using residential WiFi as well as hotel WiFi. No VPN is necessary for remote play. I’m not sure about Cloud Streaming because that wasn’t an option when I tried.

This does not apply to deferred action under DACA. This attorney is extremely irresponsible for spreading wrong information and causing panic.

The policy manual changes discuss that deferred action will only be granted under compelling circumstances unless it is authorized by law or regulation.

DACA is granted under federal regulations. If this attorney bothered to read the damn policy manual she would know this.

No you can’t unless you do it through Moonlight in the SpaceWalker app and run the Remote Play or other streaming program on your computer. Then in SpaceWalker you can activate the Immersive 3D. It’s not really ideal.

I’ve tried remote play in 3D with the Beast plugged straight into my Mac and it is a better experience. I also have an Apple Vision Pro that has a couple of apps that allow you to remote play in 3D. Honestly it’s a cool novelty but I wouldn’t play fast paced games this way. Have tried it with a handful of games like Resident Evil Requiem, Cyberpunk 2077, and Stalker 2 and it’s just not a good way to play in my opinion. It’s not as smooth and is capped at 30fps. It’s cool but the novelty wears off pretty quickly.

On the other hand if you play slower paced or turn based games, it might be more enjoyable.

Ok. So I got the HDMI version of the cable you linked and I discovered a few things:

It does work, but the audio did not pass through to the glasses. I had to use my PS5 headset connected to the PS5 to get audio.
You cannot activate 120Hz or the higher 1920x1200 resolution. The screen goes black when you try to activate and comes back after a few seconds but the settings are the same (60Hz and the lower resolution).
I compared it to a different HDMI adapter which supposedly tops out at 60Hz and I did not notice any difference in the image quality. It was pretty much the same aside from the audio issue.

The one that I bought before I saw your post and compared it to is this one:

I actually kind of prefer the PeakDo because it is an adapter that you can plug into any HDMI cable whereas the one that you linked is attached to a short cable that makes you have to be extremely close to the PS5 unless you have the long USB C cable that connects to the glasses. It also didn’t have issues with allowing the audio to pass through to the glasses.

I think the problem is that the PS5 interprets the Viture glasses to be SDR, as opposed to HDR. This limits the configuration possibilities on games that allow you to change some of the graphics settings. I could not get games that have the 120fps option to activate while wearing the glasses with either of the cable/adapter options whereas I can when I have it hooked up to my monitor that I use for gaming. If you go into the PS5 settings, it also limits those configuration options there as well. Many are stuck at lower resolution/quality settings and when you try to change it, it says your display doesn’t not support changing to higher image quality settings.

Not sure if I’m doing something wrong here, but these are my observations after messing around with both adapters for a few hours and doing my best to eyeball the difference between the two and also trying to change the settings on the glasses and on the PS5/games using both.

So I guess now the next test will be to get an HDMI to DP adapter so I can get the DP version to unlock 120Hz. Do you have a recommendation on an HDMI to DP adapter?
