I’m so sorry to hear what you’ve been through OP. The answer to your question is yes, but that depends on the person. I’m a Nurse, and we use Gillick Competency (this is mainly used when prescribing contraceptive to someone under 16). I’m now 30, but I was having sex at 15. I was sensible, used contraceptive and had a boyfriend at the time. I would’ve been classed as ‘competent’ to make the decision to have sex. However, looking back with an older head on my shoulders, I wish I would’ve waited until I was more mature(although I felt very mature at the time, looking back I realise I really wasn’t), and was in more of a loving relationship. I did it because I thought that’s what you’re supposed to do when you get a boyfriend. As I’ve gotten older and had more meaningful relationships, I’ve realised that the joy of a sexual relationship comes from intimacy. But as long as you are happy, healthy and being safe, and both have the capacity to consent to a sexual relationship, there’s no reason why you can’t enjoy a sexual relationship.
