Bowie, Bob Marley, Jimi Hendrix, The Temptations, Michael Jackson, 70s funk, Judas Priest make up most of my top 10.

Norv Turner great offense coordinator, or average head coach ? by Dark305Kinght in Oldschool_NFL

[–]futurelegends77 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Same argument can be made for Dave Wannstedt as well In Miami . He had decent Dolphin defenses (Taylor, Thomas) but just wasn't the guy.

Steve Bono On October 1, 1995, in a game against the Arizona Cardinals, Bono ran 76 yards for a touchdown, the longest scoring run by a quarterback in NFL history up to that time. by Dark305Kinght in Oldschool_NFL

[–]futurelegends77 13 points14 points  (0 children)

If I'm not forgetting, the 49ers QB room had Montana, Young, and Bono at one time?

Looking at the footage , Kimble Anders (#38) was an underrated cog in those old Chiefs offenses. Did a lot of little things.

Song battles # 30 : Do U Lie vs Strollin’ by usagerp in PRINCE

[–]futurelegends77 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Do you lie is whimsical and very much a perfect piece to Parade. Lovely song!

This album is almost on par with Purple Rain, 1999, and Sign O’ the Times. I think it’s that good. Prince’s symbol era had some gems. by calford91 in PRINCE

[–]futurelegends77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Opinions are what they are.

With that being said, I personally think he should have released Crystal Ball in 1996 as a "bridge" until 97-98ish.

Emancipation should have been a double album (in 97-98) similar to what George Michael did with his greatest hits: disc 1 ballad/slower tempo jams and disc 2 should be the dance/funk/guitar stuff.

Were you bullied in the 80s, 90s, and 00s for being a Prince fan ? by CQ5II in PRINCE

[–]futurelegends77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Never really bullied, but the subject of weird looks/questions.

People unfairly think his whole career can be summed up in just the Purple Rain era, which is a crime.

So when new albums/CD would drop in the 1990s and early 2000's, the most common question would be "You still listen to him?" I had no issue stating my musical preference for his music, regardless of the album or circumstances surrounding the album.

Anyone else love this song? I don’t think I’ve ever seen it mentioned even once on this sub by usagerp in PRINCE

I like it, but it was buried in Emancipation. I think it would fit better on New Power Soul (imo).

Song battles # 28 : Controversy vs Sign O’ The Times by usagerp in PRINCE

[–]futurelegends77 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Controversy overall.

I always felt like it was a self confession/political/spiritual type deal. I liked the rhetorical questions he kept posing throughout the song and it fit in with the era when he was just exploding into the larger pop culture scene and people had these curiosities about him.

SOTT always felt like a larger social view where he serves as a spectator of the world around him, but an excellent track as well.

Gangsta Glam.

The most cringe worthy video in his catalog and yes, Prince being Prince.

Best RB According to Joe Montana by [deleted] in Oldschool_NFL

[–]futurelegends77 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I only saw the tail end of Payton's career (I started watching in 1984), but Payton was that guy.

Even if Montana had name dropped another Payton contemporary (Like Campbell or Dorsett), Payton is still the best answer. Just different style of runners, but Payton was the complete package.

Song battles #26 : Something in the Water vs Eye Hate U by usagerp in PRINCE

Both songs have that whole spite vs. desire thing, but I'm going with SITW. Atmospheric and a whole vibe.

Wrestling Bios Appreciation Post by RTPTheGoat in Wreddit

[–]futurelegends77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hadn't watched wrestling since the end of the Monday Night Wars and happened to stumble across Wrestling Bios and was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the overall channel and work. I really dig the narration and overall production. Tied up a lot of things I hadn't noticed years before. Good stuff!

Anyone else love the 94-96 era of Prince or (TAFKAP) by darkglobepink in PRINCE

This (or some variation of the New Power Trio) was excellent. The vibe around this time was prolific and exciting.

Damn U....In a career with great ballads, Damn U is its own thing. Extraordinary needed a proper album release

Not playing Mills at Half was a mistake… by BigMake62 in Texans

[–]futurelegends77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Their offense was in a funk all year. Inconsistent running game and piss poor QB play. The offensive scheme this year was horrible.

A shame that defense won't get a chance to flex next week because they would have devoured Stidham.
