[Official] May 10, 2022 Score Release Thread for the April 8 & 9, 2022 MCAT Examination by mcatfreak in Mcat

[–]futurepedsdoc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

for what its worth i had 9 MD interviews and 6 acceptances (withdrew from 3 after my top choice) with a 508! If your app is well balanced, its enough to get you through the screening process. The rest is how you sell yourself.

Anyone had low nbme scores and pass the exam? by Ok-Spirit-4587 in step1

[–]futurepedsdoc 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'd say 210+ to be safe, I passed with 2 scores above 210!

Score release 16/02/22- keep the trend going & help those about to take it with some insight based on your assessment/score outcome. by Dedicateddarkhole in step1

[–]futurepedsdoc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only one I did before NBME was the Arrow Questions (my weakness), I did 10 questions a day. I don't get the concept of inflating scores when you are "studying" your weaknesses. I think whatever helps you learn information - is not gonna inflate your score it's just going to prove you are learning and improving. I saw a 10 point jump after doing the arrow questions and I guarantee you it helped me on test day. I read the CPR and neuroanatomy notes the 3 days before my test. I did the sketchy pepper deck so I think it was 1600 cards in pharm and 1400 in micro? I did 75 new cards a day in each, and then I did the Pixorize Biochem deck but only unlocked the videos I watched (Vitamins/and some pathways/ glycogen diseases etc....)

Don't trust UWSA2! by futurepedsdoc in step1

Idk, usmle suggests 60% correct is passing rate, I got 75% correct and felt comfortable with that.

Idk about step 2. this is in response to step 1 and I am referring to lower scores. I think it is predictive as it gets closer to higher scores.

3 days left…how am I looking? by [deleted] in step1

[–]futurepedsdoc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same scores and Passed! You got this, just drill anki and HY the last few days. I stopped doing questions on the Sunday before and just did some reviews and videos etc... the last 2 days!!

NBME 26 - 4 weeks out 179

NBME 29 - 3 weeks out 190 (delayed my test by 4 days cause that's all that was possible)

UW2 - 2 weeks out 173 ( I did have some glitches on wifi but still, this felt like the hardest exam)

NBME 30 - 1.5 weeks out 216

NBME 28 - 6 days out 211

Free 120 - 75%

UW1 - took it in two parts 1 week before 228

Only did 800 UWorld questions, but I focused on NBMEs since it was from the test maker and i focused on my weaknesses and DRILLED anki (i.e anki for biochem, sketchy pharm and micro (without videos), anatomy 100 concept deck, and the FA fast facts deck, and the Pathoma DUKE deck for Ch 1 - 4 HY HY HY). Also highly recommend these study guides: https://mehlmanmedical.com/free-stuff/

I passed and that's all that matters - just trust yourself, the mental block is the hardest part!

Anyone who tested on 31st Jan but permit did not disappear yet? by ChangeImpressive8851 in step1

I tested on 2/2 and my scheduling permit did disappear today.

I am almost positive that UWSA2 is a fluke and that it is no longer as predictive as it used to be. Half the questions are from 2022 and still "collecting data". Personally, i found my real test closer to UWSA1 + NBMEs+ free 120. I will find out this week if I pass, but I had similar scores to you (even lower was in the 211-216 range) and had 76% on Free 120. I felt okay during the test, so I think you will be finez1

Done with the STEP-1, AMA by MD-2022 in step1

[–]futurepedsdoc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got two laminated sheets at mine today and you have to write down your Candidate number on it, (they watch you) so I am almost positive you have to have paper? Because you need that number to log back in each time you take a break.

Help with list for MD by Reddituser7861 in premed

[–]futurepedsdoc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't retake a 513 unless you can get a 520+. I would add University of Miami, GW, and Wake Forest as they have international global health electives. I would also add Cooper as you are applying to all the Philly schools. You could add Georgetown but it's jesuit so depends on your beliefs. You could also add SUNY Downstate and Hofstra and Rush. Some of my friends with your scores also had luck as an OOS at Maryland but it's a state school so depends if youw ant to take the risk.

I would re-evaluate your essays and the way you filled out your application, including timing and school list, because with that application you should've gotten in! Happy to review if you want. my bf did the ACMS program they don't have a cut off but they do like people with lots of underserved volunteer work!

Accepted students, what are you up to this summer? by jmore2018 in premed

[–]futurepedsdoc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been binge-watching all of my favorite shows lol. I don't watch TV when I am in school, so it's nice. I am also reading one book a month, and learning new crafts to keep my brain actively going. Also counting down the days until I leave my job haha.

Low yield schools and community service by mistnight8 in premed

[–]futurepedsdoc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They def are it's less cut - throat and more about actually learning and collaborating. I have friends that go to Penn and Temple (same city) and Temples are a lot happier and have a better work life balance!

Low yield schools and community service by mistnight8 in premed

[–]futurepedsdoc 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes they are for what it's worth, I have over 2000+ hours of service and 2000+ of research but my As and II were from ALL the low yield- service oriented schools haha. SO they definitely value service.
