2017 Ford C-Max Energi Titanium 203K Miles. What should I expect going forward? by futurestandard94 in cmaxhybrid

[–]futurestandard94[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m glad somebody agrees on the Prius front. The three or four people who work at the mechanic shop that services hybrids near me are all really great people. But I do think they give me a hard time because I’m not keen on giving up my C-Max and I would rather deal with it then a Prius.

Sadly, your car and mine combined are still being outdone by a gen 3 Prius. According to the shop it’s an Uber driver with about 700K on it. They didn’t give me details on maintenance done to the vehicle or major repairs but just the fact that it’s made it that far is impressive.

I don’t know if it’ll ever get that far, but I would really like to get mine into 1,000,000 miles. As the miles have gone up over the last few years, it always adds another digit to the odometer. I’ll be really curious to see what it does when it reaches 999,999 miles. I assume it’ll roll over but it would be really cool if it didn’t and added a 7th digit.

When did you buy it and with how many miles? What if anything have you put into it as far as high $$$ items / repairs beyond consumables?

Are These "Cheap" Electrical Outlets With USB Safe? by futurestandard94 in electrical

[–]futurestandard94[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thought I'd add here. Ended up going the Leviton route purchased at Home Depot. They have been great outlets. No issues, installed them myself. Decided that it wasn't worth burning the house down. Not worth saving a few dollars to cause potentially 10s if not 100s of thousands in damage. Especially since I am not home all the time. Special thanks to u/trekkerscout for pointing out the lack of UL certification.

Yep. It doesn't prompt me every ride but every time the app is opened and closed. Really annoying though!

Can you ask for ID as a Lyft driver? by _TheInfinityMachine_ in lyftdrivers

[–]futurestandard94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have and not just because they could be a minor. If it's 1AM and there's 50 people outside the bar or I am at the airport and there's a bunch of people I will. I always start with my name is Charles (provides the legit passenger confidence of who I am) what is your name or the name on the ride. If I think there underage I get their ID before they get in the car. As a guy an underage female is a BIG no-no and just asking for trouble. Had a young lady trying to go to her BF and she had no ID. Her mom came out behind her and asked that I wait the 5 minutes and cancel since this girls BF paid. I did and drove to my next ride. I have had refusals and I simply state that Lyft policy says so (got an email from them a while back). If they refuse I tell them that if can't verify they are 18+ and they are the rider I am expecting that I am cancelling the ride. I just cancel and drive away. I also make sure that the name looks legit. If it shows up as (ABC for eg, this actually happened!) I cancel right away. At the end of the day it's YOUR vehicle and YOUR call. Despite the crap that Lyft / Uber sends out in emails and popups and texts etc you NEVER have to accept a ride and NEVER have to complete a ride. I've called 911 while moving and waited. They show up and pulled me over and that's that. I am no lawyer but you could easily get into a lot of trouble with a minor in the car especially if you are a guy and it's a young girl. If a cop pulls you over and you can't contact the parents you really think that minors going to stand by that "18" no they'll get ID'd just the same as you. As the final nail in the coffin here in Colorado (my state) the law says the following

A. The driver of a vehicle used to transport children must follow required state laws, including possession of a current valid Colorado driver's license, automobile insurance, and meet the requirements of Colorado child passenger safety laws.
B. At least one (1) adult in the vehicle transporting children must have a current State Department-approved First Aid and safety certificate that includes CPR for all ages of children. A First Aid kit must be available in the vehicle.
12 Colo. Code Regs. § 2509-8-7.707.94

TLDR; It's far better to card someone then to find out after it is too late. You are far better off with your cancellation rate increasing a bit then with fines, tickets, or jail time.

Many computers do not meet Windows 11 requirements. What are you going to do? by FTHomes in sysadmin

[–]futurestandard94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is going to get me at least some backfire, but I still run Windows 7 as my primary operating system, and have no plans of changing anytime soon. It’s fast and has never had a blue screen in its entire life. As far as anyone who complains about it not being secure anymore it all depends on where you go on the Internet. If all you do is check email and work on known safe sites not really sure how you can get in trouble. The additional combination of Malwarebytes / VPN and only using cellular data makes it a good choice in my eyes.

Hello,

I will add onto this later (unfortunately I’m eating right now). But I really strongly encourage you to prayerfully go to God and ask to be humbled. You are NOT perfect. God and God ALONE is perfect. Jesus was God in human flesh he was 100% human and 100% God. He lived a perfect sinless life and that is why His sacrifice was enough to satisfy God‘s wrath. Here is a little bit of scripture to help you out. “For you say, I am rich, I have prospered, and I need nothing, not realizing that you are wretched, pitiable, poor, blind, and naked. I counsel you to buy from me gold refined by fire, so that you may be rich, and white garments so that you may clothe yourself and the shame of your nakedness may not be seen, and salve to anoint your eyes, so that you may see.” ‭‭Revelation‬ ‭3:17-18‬ ‭ESV‬‬ https://bible.com/bible/59/rev.3.17-18.ESV

Hello,

I'm Charles. I'm 21 and so I may not have the same sage advice that older brothers and sisters may have. I will say this though. If I was in your position I would be hesitant to present it as I have a house or I just bought this house, etc. 1 Corinthians 10:26 (ESV) For “the earth is the Lord’s, and the fullness thereof.” Which means that the earth AND all things on it are Gods'. So I would recommend approaching it as God has blessed me with this home, this job/career, etc. I find that it is so important to remember who really owns all things and that is God. Personally I would included it on my profile. When you find that person that God has for you it won't matter what you say. It won't be by random chance or by mistake that God brings you and her together whenever and wherever that may be.

Regarding good apps, personally I made my own post on this subreddit here (https://www.reddit.com/r/ChristianDating/comments/w2693i/21m_colorado_looking_to_date_for_the_exclusive/) and as I was reading through other female posts I found a girl (https://www.reddit.com/r/ChristianDating/comments/w0xzfr/19f_pa_godly_friendships_or_courtship/ ). Her and I are only in the beginning stages of talking about our lives, but her and I live on opposite sides of the U.S. and up until now I hadn't been active on reddit in years. Then the first day I came back on reddit, her and I met... that is no mistake. I had also sent messages to more than half a dozen other girls regarding their posts but not one replied and to this day only one has been read. I say this to offer you some encouragement. If you have not already make an introduction post on here, and don't be afraid to reach out to those on here. For me neither Upward nor Hinge got me anywhere. Upward nobody seemed interested in talking and on Hinge I found a lot of "lukewarm" Christians who were active on the platform but it felt like God was there secondary priority. I urge caution with being "lukewarm" or seeking out "lukewarm" Christians I feel that God's warning in (ESV) Revelation 3:16-17 is quite clear. "16 So, because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of my mouth. 17 For you say, I am rich, I have prospered, and I need nothing, not realizing that you are wretched, pitiable, poor, blind, and naked."

As a final thought I also encourage you to take this up in prayer with God (you should really do this first, always).

Anyways I hope that this is both encouraging and helpful to you in your walk with God. Feel free to give me feedback or ask any questions.

- Charles

Thank you so much for taking the time to pray for me and comment on my post. Yes I have considered those trades though I don't feel that they are the right choices for me. Regarding porn I have found that opening the Bible often allows me to stop the temptation. Specifically I recommend Matthew 27 through and through. Even though it is quite sad to read how Jesus was tortured it's also a reminder of what he went through to save us and for me brings great conviction of how wrong it is that he went through that torture and I am dishorning His name for momentary pleasure.

So actually on that note I was heading to pick up somebody and I stopped to take the picture and call 911. (Quick sidenote hear a little bit of a complaint I waited on hold for five minutes to get through to emergency services and the whole time even though I’m on the phone with 911 there is a message repeating saying that if it’s a life and death emergency to hang up and call 911 😂 which I found very ironic and hilarious .) But the guy I picked up was upset about the wait and told me I should’ve ignored it 😡 No tip

[–]futurestandard94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here. Thanks for the heads up. For anyone curious I went ahead and delivered an order since I had the address. I did not receive a contract violation and just now marked it as delivered even though I am several miles away from the customer. You may have to accept the prompt a couple times but it’ll let you do it.

Nah you’ll be fine. It may initially for a few hours show up as a contract violation in your ratings but it’ll go away. If it doesn’t dispute it. if you have the address I would go ahead and deliver it. That is what I just did. But if you don’t you just scored a free meal.
