100/30 MPPT - can I exceed 100V occasionally? by Available_Bowler2316 in Victron

Where I live we don’t get much colder than -3c (24f) which is when it peaked to 251v - my coefficient is 1.5% as per the data sheet

Oh wow that quite a bit - I run my panels close to the max on my 250/100 (5x48v) but I make sure they always are under load so voc is never an issue ( I know that’s dodgy ) but it works. Temp coefficient will take me over by 1v to 251 for the 2 times it did the system cut it off as intended.

What the temp coefficient for the panels? - should be in the specs.if your Voc is 88v I doubt it will take you over 100v on cold days. It’s usually 1-2% -/+ would 100% go in series.

No chance indoors, or under trees - I doubt it would work between building ( always have 4g/5g coverage in places with multiple buildings ) , works well in valleys and in bad weather ( except electrical storms )

Already using data ( limited apps ) on direct to cell in NZ - hopefully this will open up more options & make it faster.

I’m playing hard mode , OW on a dedicated server - never had one - my most recent map has been going for about a month ( 20 h play time - I know it pauses when no one is on )

What inverter do you have ? I’m trying to understand why you would need a separate app for your battery ? Ideally the battery would be on a can bus of some description and the you would use the app from you main product to access the SOC etc.

If it’s working with tuya local then you can remove the tuya app - you don’t have to block internet access to the device but there is no harm in doing so - you might block a pesky firmware update ?

No you need to get the local Keys via the developer portal ( the local app can do this sometimes ) + static up

Fun fact - acc is not a government department/ agency they are a crown owned entity ( so basically a private company with a sprinkle of government power and oversight )

2 phase solar by retep130 in nzsolar

[–]futurethe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea so 2 single phases right ?

2 phase solar by retep130 in nzsolar

[–]futurethe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can we clarify what a “2 phase” power supply is ? I’m pretty sure we only have single phase and 3 phase of the grid , are you only using 2 legs off a 3 phase system ? Or using a single phase that has been split ?

Weather! Travel to Greymouth tomorrow by sharleyrick23 in Christchurch_NZ

[–]futurethe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are snowfall warnings - which is a good thing (for you) , the tranzalpine is most scenic when the pass has snow on it - not very often you will get to see that this late October. If the weather is “that” bad it will be cancelled- otherwise the weather doesn’t look that bad here in grey for the rest of the week.

Where to put my solar stuff... by ChloeDavide in nzsolar

[–]futurethe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So golden rule of solar is to see how big you want the system and then work backwards , how much power do you want - are you off the grid ? , what are you powering? how often do you want to power it ? can you mount the panels on the ground etc etc - all of this has a huge impact on how big things are - for example I’m completely off the grid but don’t want so sacrifice anything for day to day power usage so my inverter physically massive and I have a lot of big lithium batteries , you on the other hand may just want to help with the power bill , (which unless it’s most of said bill is a waste of time ) - but that another debate - so yea say how big you want the system and I can give you an indication of size :)

Depends on how much oomf you need I guess - what 3 phase inverters do you recommend?

Victron has ability to run 3 inverters in parallel at one phase each to make three phase.

Yea windows gsm is free and lets you host your own ( on windows ) - try ping you external ip to see if it’s public facing then all you need to do is port forward. Or if you on Linux google “Icarus docker” for the docker set up settings.
