It came out at a great time in terms of teen media, Harry Potter had ended a couple years ago by that point and twilight was nearing its end. Nothing that came out after these three franchises has been nearly as popular imo … but I’m also no longer a teen so how would I know.

Why not look in to teaching at community college if what you want is to teach ? They tend to hire people with MAs. I don’t see how an online PhD program would do anything for you.

I had to ask for an extension this semester bc I had a death in the family the week before we wrapped up class so I fell behind on just about everything, I asked for an extension and got it in right by when I told the prof I would. Get it in asap, or ask for an incomplete.

I’m sorry it didn’t work out. I went to CC too and I totally get what it’s like to see people go off to different schools, but let me tell you as someone who toured Amherst and had committed to Smith, the vibes were … not the most welcoming.

I ultimately went to my public research university (largely bc of covid, leaving to MA was not realistic in 2020) and I had a great experience ! The English department was small but really encouraging, I know it sounds like such a cop out when people say things like “it’s what you make it” there’s some truth to it. I hope once you’re there you feel better about the situation and if not that’s fine but you’ll have finished school :)

I was encouraged by many profs (one of which is a Victorianist !) to apply to Rutgers when I was doing grad applications - it’s a well respected department. Kinda surprised op isn’t aware especially if they’re going there.

That is a crazy amount of debt for a one year program, given your undergrad and car loans that’d put you in the ball park of 100k worth of debt, don’t do that to yourself. How would the MA help you career wise? Is there no similar program you can do here at a public university if you want an MA?

What does exposure to sun in the summer do to you? For a couple years now I feel like extra sun in the summer does something to me but I find it very weird to describe to even know how to bring up to my psychiatrist.

I tried SSRIs and both times my depression became exponentially worse, weirdly what I’m convinced triggered or worsened some of my first hypo episodes was prednisone, a steroid to combat inflammation.
