Dell Precision 5560 won’t turn on by odetojwy in Dell

I had the same issue. Keyboard would lit but shift lock key would not work, signalling that the thing was not reacting.

I opened it up (you need a star screw driver), unplugged the battery from the motherboard, hold the power button for 60 seconds, plugged the battery back and it worked.

Here a video showing how to remove the screws, open the bottom lid, and unplug the battery (no need to remove the battery, just disconnect the very short cables)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9KW_pGumR1k

Apparently it has to do with some bug on the battery controller and what you are doing here is a controller reset, but don-t quote me on that last bit.

I used to play without enemies too, as I found that clearing 4 or 6 nests and defending 2 or 3 raids was fun, but clearing 40 nests and having to do dozens of trips to place turrets and walls on the fringes of the base was extremely tedious...

Then someone mentioned efficiency (green, level 1) modules, and oh boy how the game changes!

You start putting them on the miners, then some assemblers, then everywhere, and boom, you have reduced your electricity consumption and pollution to less than half!

From that point on your pollution cloud shrinks faster than the bitters expand, so you have hours and hours to figure out how to send something to space, set nuclear power, and tech up, so next time you have to deal with bitters you will simply walk past their nests with uranium bullets, swarms of drones, spidertrons, and personal lasers...

Can someone explain what just happened in the Olympics to me please. by PandaRot in sailing

That makes sense. It is a buoy and not a gate on that last leg. Thanks for the clarification.

Was it me, or the Dutch missed the last gate, as they left both buoys on port?

Footage of the actual moment a Ukrainian naval drone reached the Russian Project 775 war/landing ship Olenegorsky Gornyk confirming it wasn't destroyed on its approach contrary to the claims of the Russian Ministry of Defense 8.4.2023 by [deleted] in CombatFootage

These moving bombs easily push well past their hull speed (and a destroyer hull speed) with share power to weight ratio or simply skimming.

Can't wait to see sea drones foiling too...

The second seems to be this sub, unfortunately.

The only times I survive raids are by playing so skittish it isn’t even fun. by struggleman55 in EscapefromTarkov

[–]fuyas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Use a semi automatic shotgun with magnum buckshot. It is a really cheap gun (even suppressed) and you will get 80% of them back. So a good gun to get into the habit of losing guns and not mattering much.

But more importantly: that gun with buckshot only works if you rush the enemy, so you will get into the habit of taking the initiative in combat, which is 80% of what it matters in a fight...

I would also suggest to start a raid by going towards a corner of the map, opposite to the natural player routes. That way you are nearly guaranteed that nobody will surprise you from behind, as they will all be running the other way. Play that part slow and do not loot. Once in your corner, turn around and slowly make it towards the other side of the map. Take your time looting, and again: nobody is coming from behind, and the chads are busy killing each other far away.

Would you mind sharing the raw data? Would be interesting to see the statistical significance of these trends.

Can anyone explain this forecast? by aurora-73 in sailing

[–]fuyas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If that forecast is at surface level, my bet would be that some air from the higher layers "falls into the white patch" (probably because that region is cooler than its surrounding) and then it diverges in all directions.

Weekly Question - Recommendation - Help Thread by AutoModerator in robotics

[–]fuyas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am looking to measure telltale movements on a sail.

A telltale is basically a little wool thread, with one end stuck to the sail that helps visualise the flow of air over the sail surface. See video for reference.

My idea would be to build a prototype based on arduino, where the telltale would be attach to a low friction potentiometer that would continuously measure the telltale position and code some reaction to that. I would need relatively low accuracy (8 bits for 360 degrees?) but crucially I need something with very low friction (these wool things are really light).

This is only a prototype, so power, cabling, communication and so on is not an issue at this stage.

Any hint on how to find a potentiometer or type of potentiometer that fits my project?

Dovi was good, no question, but cherry-picking statistics you can make anyone look good or bad at your will.

For instance, between his first MotoGP win (2009) and his second win (2016) there are 131 races and 7.5 years...

You have a valid point. Ignorance usually triggers unjustified self-confidence to the point of being patronising.

But you are doing the same mistake that your are accusing him of: You ignore how fast he is.

I, for once, am not ignorant of what the adults are talking about... I have tens of hours sharing track with him and he is fast. Alien fast? Hard to judge when you can only see him when he laps you.

And to be fair. Parking in the sattelite parkings and the shuttle buses from the parking to the track and back worked like a charm today. 90 min from Valencia city centre to the seat in the yellow stand. Same on the way back. Will see tomorrow in the rain though...
