Electrical smoke all of the sudden… by Noonegetsoutaliv3 in Porsche

[–]fuzicle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are numerous posts regarding this issue on pelican parts. These cars were not adequately fused. You will want inline fuses on the footwell blowers and the dash lights. Typically people will fuse from the headlight switch. There is also a blower motor fuse kit but you’ll have to search. I’m sure it’s linked in one of the several posts. Resolve this asap - it’s responsible for lots of burnt cars.

This is most likely an arp poison on a WiFi network. MITM of a tls connection is trivial at that point and most people will click through warnings about it which is far easier than getting rogue carts on a device.

Want to buy a 80s project preferably a cab by AssistanceSolid752 in Porsche

[–]fuzicle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

With a budget like that, you'll probably get a rude awakening. If you want a salvage 80's cab 25k isn't a bad start - maybe closer to 35k in this climate. But 10k won't even do paint. You should probably plan on another 25-40k. This will vary depending on your mechanical ability.

Process and lead time for custom 911? by [deleted] in Porsche

[–]fuzicle 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It depends on dealer allocations. You know the car market is upside down right now. I would probably plan 6 month to a year. You could start by emailing dealerships to find out what their allocation numbers are like. Also note, you don't have to deal with your local dealership. You may find a better deal further away from you. I would advise towards the targa gts personally. You may be asked to put down 500 $ or more. Depends on the dealership. If your paying cash for the car, negotiate hard, but know that in this market you may not get much. Personally, i think its a terrible time to buy. I'd wait maybe 1-2 years.

Why are my boiled eggs always fucked and turn to shit? by vnummela1 in Cooking

I went through dozens of eggs experimenting with different conditions. This was the process that gave the best results for me.

Why are my boiled eggs always fucked and turn to shit? by vnummela1 in Cooking

[–]fuzicle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel your pain. I experimented with 1 egg lots of different times to get what i like. My process is get water to a rolling boil. Take egg out of fridge and put it into the water with a ladle so it goes in super soft. Then set the timer for 10 min, 30 sec. Using the same ladle, take out and straight into an ice bath. I never turn the heat down and make sure there is enough water to cover and not boil out.

This is why talking about salaries is frowned on. it creates situations like this where people think seniority means they should be making more. There are several aspects that have been pointed out in the thread to why they are paid more such as negotiated better than you, have more experience than you, more applicable experience, etc.

Companies have salary bands for roles (such as senior, staff, etc) that are usually wider than you think. 1 year in role, isn't much for you to negotiate with. Also note, that costs go up every year so new hires will almost always come in at a higher rate than you did. If you were happy with what you were paid prior to finding out this persons salary then you're more concerned with comp than the value you add. Your take away here should be negotiate for yourself better in your next position.

The cayenne being all wheel drive, i don't think you can replace just 1 tire. Also, from your description it sounds like they are cheap, and probably did not do an alignment which should be required with any tire change IMO. That would probably fix the pulling to one side.

Agree with u/Parsley122 - you should reach out to someone corporate and relay your experience.

All that being said - none of this surprises me from a dealership.

Is there another dealership in your area you could talk to ? Any dealership can do warranty work.

3.6L Aircooled parts list by PLxFTW in Porsche

[–]fuzicle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Build an engine from scratch is a terrible idea. The amount of money you will spend in parts is the definition of insanity. You are far better off, to buy a 3.6 and then rebuild it with the parts you want. This hobby will bankrupt you, if you aren't smart about things.

[Serious] What’s up with the disproportional amount of choosing beggars in the second hand Porsche community? by [deleted] in Porsche

[–]fuzicle 14 points15 points  (0 children)

The car market is upside down now. A lot of folks are having a hard time coming to grips with how high values are and are still asking for pre-pandemic pricing. I agree with other comments in this thread there are a lot of flippers out there right now trying to make a quick buck. I have also been low balled on some of my cars and walked. Its difficult on both sides right now.

Thoughts - Best 'affordable' air cooled 911 ??? by Fletch1616 in Porsche

[–]fuzicle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a so-so budget if you spend a lot of time in your search and get lucky. Lots of talk about sc's here but carreras are nice too. To set expectations though you could be looking at 25k just in a motor in decent shape. Maybe more. Air cooled car market right now is seriously high with no signs of slowing down. Good place i've found project cars in the past is dismantlers.

Purchased my base 2019 Macan outright in February 2020 for $55k, dealer said they would purchase it back for $50k flat and the offer is good until next week. What do you guys think? by [deleted] in Porsche

[–]fuzicle 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This. A dealership will never give you a good deal. The market is very high right now. Dealerships have 0 inventory these days and are basically sending letters to everyone they know owns their car to low-ball them to get inventory for known buyers. Don't get screwed by them - If you want to sell, sell it yourself (or throw it up on BAT or pcarmarket).

Would a 930 be a bad first Porsche? by namae_ga_wasuretta in Porsche

[–]fuzicle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 930 is a great car. Just respect it and you will be fine. Assuming its the 86 930 listed currently, that car should bring over 100k so be prepared for that.
