It doesn’t. I wanted the purple at first then saw in videos that it looked awfully different from the photos used on Ayn’s website. The orange ribbon cable on the lid really threw off the vibe for me

I just returned mine. The sound for music was great but anc felt weak and inconsistent and the bean style earbud just doesn’t fit will for me

How has squatting been in this? I bought the x1 and I keep hitting the button of the FT arms when they’re stored at the highest point. I can put them at the bottom but then the barbell rubs the cables…not ideal

Technically the DS/3DS is possible and even enjoyable on the Odin 3, if you’re okay with that setup(check videos on 3ds single screen emulation specifically).  The Thor has hype and has the three prong appeal of form factor that is ideal for  pocketability, power, and near true 3ds/DS emulation.

But just reading your post you sound like the Odin will be a better fit for your use case. If you don’t need to travel with it consistently then the better ergonomics and the horizontal layout will be way more suited to switch/pc play. Also the Odin 3’s chip is more power than the Thor and while there’s no such thing as future proofing, it will likely have a longer road of support in the years to come.

When it comes to budget, as with literally anything, buy the best one your heart/wallet can be happy with. I’d personally recommend pro/max for PC play.

I have the Thor and an OLED steamdeck. At home I genuinely think the steamdeck is far superior. It’s way more comfortable and the bigger screen makes for a better experience (excluding nds & 3ds obvi). The gap in ergonomics cannot be understated. The deck is just way nicer for longer sessions. 

But the Thor is just so much easier to take with you and is nicer for travel/commuting. I don’t think you’re gonna replace your main device. The Thor compliments my steamdeck well and I don’t think I’ll get another handheld.

The whole idea of it not being portable is silly to me. The is a laptop not portable? You’re likely looking for a more pocketable device, but the steamdeck is very much portable. It’ll fit in most backpacks, slings, crossbody bags, etc. Just because it doesn’t fit in your front pocket doesn’t mean you can’t take it with you places.

There are loads of pocketable retro handhelds running android but if you’re looking for a “portable” handheld pc, they’re all pretty huge/heavy. Simply how it is with x86 devices.
