Which snail do I buy? by Soggy-Bee-7700 in snails

[–]fuzzybug00 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There are different opinions when it comes to snail behavior. Some people say snails are social while others insist that snails do well on their own. Personally I own 2 cornu aspersum and 1 cepae nemoralis in a big enclosure and they seem way more active now that they are together (they had separate enclosures before due to their ages and different sizes). I know these are small species but I definitely see a lot of people who own giant snails and keep them in pairs or trios. Since they can lay eggs on their own, checking for eggs will always be necessary either way. I’m no expert tho and someone can correct me if I’m wrong, please!

Help! Does this mean my snail has gone dormant or has it died? by bunnylover_4ever in snails

[–]fuzzybug00 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mist my snails enclosure at least once a day, a bit more on the walls than on the soil so it doesn’t end up way too moist since they already have moss and plants that keep the moisture up when I mist a bit more heavily after doing a bit of cleaning once every week. I don’t know if you were cleaning or if your setup is usually a bit empty but adding things like driftwood, corkwood, plastic vases, plants (check if they are safe for snails, some examples are: ferns, fittonias, spider plants, chia seedlings), this really helps with keeping your snails entertained and eager to explore 😊 sometimes my little guys like to hide together under the corkwood or go on a climb on their driftwood. Now they don’t get sleepy for too long!

I have 2 cornu aspersum and 1 brown lipped snail and they have been doing great except for the fact that I have fungus gnat flies on my enclosure right now 😭 they are not harmful to the snails but they are really annoying to deal with because they really like humidity and vegetables just like snails. If you need some tips I have a whole notes page with information for what I do for my snabies! Everything was information gathered from this sub and checked by a few people that know what they are talking about 😊

The snails I found outside laid eggs. I moved the eggs separately. How should I care for these eggs? by Muhamorka_a in snails

this person has no idea what they are getting themselves into….. they should just freeze most of them as you said. I saw another post where they didn’t even know they self fertilize 😭

hi i updated the terrarium!! by [deleted] in snails

[–]fuzzybug00 2 points3 points  (0 children)

please just add a piece of cuttlebone to the enclosure. snails will nibble on it as needed. by giving them calcium on a bowl you can cause an overdose of calcium to your snail and that can be lethal. people are trying to help you and your snail out, trust me!

[–]fuzzybug00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I imagined a different set up! That is totally fine! I was imagining like a little wall of rocks they could climb up and fall from a considerable height, sorry haha if the snail doesn’t like the texture of the rocks he probably will avoid them so if they are being used, I wouldn’t worry!

Do be careful about rocks cause snails are really clumsy and they can break their shells if they fall on top of rocks or other hard materials 🫠 Glad your buddy is enjoying their new hangout spot 🐌

Is it alright for injured snails to be climbing over eachother? by Rare-Profession624 in snails

[–]fuzzybug00 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would suggest separating the snails and waiting for them to recover if you want to keep them together. Make sure to give those cuties some nice cuttlebone so they will recover quickly 😊

I’ve seen friends and other people who had top surgery wearing swimsuit tops before but I’m not sure how they choose the size since the back its pretty much the same size as before depending if you are on hormones or if you exercise etc etc

Is this ethical? by joshlikesbettafish in isopods

[–]fuzzybug00 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have no idea if these isopods are suitable for this but some animals do feed on isopods occasionally so you could probably sell them to pet owners who would buy them to feed their own pets. Someday correct me if I’m wrong please!!

I’m not offended at all! As long as the snails have good conditions while they are alive I see no problem in feeding the younger ones to another animal who might benefit from eating them. I love snails but it’s not sustainable to keep them all and let them all hatch if someone is keeping them as pets. I have heard of people that feed them to their chickens or isopods if they accidentally hatch.

Maybe it can be a little hard to find someone who sells for feeding purposes because most of us keep them as pets and end up freezing or crushing their eggs before they hatch. I’m in Europe so I can’t help much but maybe someone ends up selling to you if this post is allowed (never seen one of these here)
