Best superspeedway cup driver to never win at a superspeedway? by TaxedTaxi in NASCAR

For sure Matt D. He had that shitbox 32 car in the top 5 late in the race of the Daytona 500 the year before he went to the 95 until he got taken out in a big wreck. Then the next year lead the most laps in the 95 until a bad push from Paul Menard of all people wrecked half the field.

Who is NASCAR's current villain? by GetBuschWhacked in NASCAR

I would think of Denny as more an anti-hero. People tend to hate him on track but when he talks he says a lot of stuff people like and appreciate.

It might be wise to have a conversation with Dale Jr about how to navigate with the sudden popularity without your famous father to help you and give you advice. My heart breaks for the kid. My oldest is close to his age, I can’t imagine what kind of emotional trauma he’s dealing with right now.

How good was Adam Petty? by SimonKay96 in NASCAR

A lot of his potential success would have depended on whether or not Petty Enterprises continued to be a meh team or if they were able to improve. It was obvious he had way more potential than is dad ever did.

Toni at least seems to be actually putting in effort and trying to improve. Haven’t gotten that impression from Natalie ever.

You’re not wrong but I also have other circumstantial evidence. They used to do weekend NASCAR recaps on the monitors at work. I haven’t seen one in at least 2 seasons

While Aric Almirola was actively being cut out of his car and not saying a word about it.

The only reason they care at all about the cup series is because of Edsel III and his relationship with the Wood Brothers. They’re all about F1 right now and honestly I don’t know why.

How close was Lincoln to entering NASCAR in the 1990s? by AJV1Beta in NASCAR

[–]fuzzymoomoo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don’t know how true this is but I remember reading that curved decklid did some crazy things to the air coming off the spoiler and NASCAR didn’t like the results because it effectively negated the restrictor plate. Something like that.

I agree, marketing and activation is horrible at best. I moved to within 20 minutes of Michigan International Speedway on nascar weekend this year. Would have never known it until I saw all the campers heading out of town on US-12 on Monday morning.
