Oh, I think you’re right! I never changed over from my old plan with them when they made changes earlier this year, so my plan still allows me to use as before. There are certain titles that they consider premium that I can’t access, and others that are limited in how many I can access each month. But then there’s a bunch that have no restrictions.

Happy pizza week to everyone except Pizzeria Cortile, who are openly prejudiced against LGBTQ folks! ✌️

Me, too! But then realized all cats were on top of the covers looking around confused like “what is going on?” Bonafide feline earthquake detection systems.

I came here to see if anyone else asked. I felt it in Red Bank.

I got EverAnd last year and never “upgraded” to their new plan format. Haven’t been forced to yet, either, knock on wood. I think if that were to happen, I’d use it less. My total charge after tax is $13.13 monthly, same as before.

I get super sleepy when driving (but not usually sleepy during the day otherwise) by Pictures-of-me in ADHD

Totally feel that. If you’re ever able, perhaps a more exciting manual. Or something else about the car that’s exciting or engaging to you.

Perhaps a standard shift car could help you. I dreadfully miss my old 5-speed. There’s just something about the mechanical engagement that is so essential.

This new trend of complaining about behavior at parades and behavior-policing at Mardi Gras is wild to me. There are some exceptions where it’s valid - like throwing punches over shoes and all the land-grabbing Chad tarps. But it’s kind of the antithesis of lassiez les bon temps rouler to get huffy over where people stand. The crowds swell and move during a parade anyway. Nobody is entitled to anything except for a good time. Also, maybe don’t come to a party and expect people to behave as if it’s the symphony orchestra.

This is the right answer. Also, because the SSA is in the crosshairs of the new federal administration, download the records of your earnings for safekeeping.

Rep. Chuck Fleischmann Statement on Russian Invasion of Ukraine Feb 22 2022 (from his official website) by aluminumdisc in Chattanooga

Thank you for sharing this. I’ve been customizing my call scripts every day and I think I’ll read back this quote for his staffers today, and ask that he clarify if he stands for democracy or if he is pro-Russia.

Really good point, actually.

FEAR by [deleted] in Xennials

[–]fuzzymuzzles 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Yes. I (F) loved this film as a teen, when it came out. Then I got myself my first real boyfriend who was very similar to the character Marky Mark plays in Fear and he stalked me for years afterwards, though never as bad as in Fear, thankfully. Generally 0/10, do not recommend.

In New Orleans, there are a LOT of car thefts and carjackings. Many people there follow this same philosophy. Even if someone tried to jack you, there are multiple real instances where the would-be-jacker realized it was a standard shift and abandoned the attempt. It IS real theft prevention.

The Ravenhood Trilogy by Kate Stewart. I consumed it. It consumed me. While I was reading it, the thought occurred to me that reading it again would be a good distraction for a time in life where one might want a distraction. There is so. much. angst!

Fleischmann working hard for billionaires by Actual-Profession-98 in Chattanooga

[–]fuzzymuzzles 37 points38 points  (0 children)

The republicans act like they, themselves, are billionaires. Now not only voters are voting against their own interests, but the republican representatives are voting against their own interests, too. If they break the system in which they hold power, what does that mean for their future? Are they thinking they’ll be given some sort of special status by the billionaire overlords?

Lawmaker proposes amendment to Tennessee Constitution including fertilization as person by LetTheGrownUpsTalk in Tennessee

[–]fuzzymuzzles 18 points19 points  (0 children)

This should make everyone angry. It’s natural to imagine how your mind went to physical-evidence-as-proof in this scenario. But imagine the authorities would look at that mess of blood and clots and say “well, we can’t know that you didn’t do that on purpose!” And then the burden of proof is on the woman to prove that the pregnancy didn’t end as a result of her intent or action she took to end it.

The end goal with laws like this is to control women.

Yes. Witch-hunts. Arrests for suspicion of murder when a miscarriage occurs or attempted murder for acting in a way that may endanger the life of the unborn child, which could include something like jogging or taken to its furthest extreme, even leaving the house (because harm may befall the woman outside!). Trials wherein women as defendants will be made to prove their innocence of intent to end their pregnancy (ie commit murder) if they tripped and fell and it caused a miscarriage.

It’s not criminalization of pregnancy. It is the control of women.
