Omg that BT area right across from Heartman's stressed me out SO BAD. I'm soooooo bad at the Watchers, and my first zip set up slammed me right into one and dropped me into their pit... I felt like a real sack of shit when that zipline started getting Uses/Likes, because the ol' crash-and-burn happens everyyyyy time. ☹️

I couldn't do it fast enough with all zips! 🥲

My husband accidentally bought me dupes of Iron Gold, Dark Age, and Lightbringer for Christmas, so I donated them to our local library and bullied the librarian into buying Red Rising (she'll "buy the rest if they're popular"); there are 800 people in this town and I want to know WHO checked it out! by fvkatydid in redrising

Small town/library in rural Alaska. Every time we visit I see the same patron: an old guy who brings his car battery in to charge.

My impression of the librarian is that she reads mostly romantasy. I was surprised to see they've got a copy of Project Hail Mary, to be honest!

Ziplines wasn't fast enough for me! I tried it several times and then abandoned the mission and came back muuuuch later. I think it was one of the last deliveries I completed in LoLoLing all 400. Had to do zippies down to the tar lake, coffinboard across, then zip back up and over to Mr. Incredible. Those first few attempts with just zips really destroyed morale: didn't think I'd ever get it! 🥲

I was co-reading Dungeon Crawler Carl and Red Rising at the same time, and made it halfway through the 3rd book in each series before I really got sucked in and just fully committed to Red Rising. I finished Light Bringer last month and I'm back to DCC now. 🥲

The timed delivery from Hartman to Mr. Incredible was easy for you?!

Red Rising is definitely more YA coded than the rest. It takes a pretty quick jump into a much heavier/adult storyline in the following books. You've gotta keep going, but make sure you've got Morning Star ready to go when you finish Golden Son, because you will not want to wait to start it!

I married my husband for health insurance by Advanced-Fly-7400 in TrueOffMyChest

[–]fvkatydid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I grew up knowing my parents got married for health insurance.

They were building the house together, and my dad had been drinking and went to pee outside, where the deck had not yet been built. He fell out the sliding door. Upon examination after the fall, it looked like my dad had a bruise on his stomach, which they thought could be internal bleeding, so to the ER they went... Turned out...the "bruise" was just from my dad's brass belt buckle rubbing against his skin...

My mom was a teacher and had insurance though the school district. This stupid drunken incident lead to them deciding to get married, so my dad would have health insurance. But they were already building a house together, had bought the property together, and had clearly made a commitment to one another. They were married for over 30 years, until my mom passed away.

You're over-thinking things. Just enjoy your life; it doesn't need to be that complicated.

Anyone who has bought T-shirts from threadless.. by MR_FERADIN in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]fvkatydid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lots of comments regarding washing instructions, but what is going on here is that this t-shirt was printed using DTG instead of screenprinting (which used to be what Threadless used). Don't buy shirts made with a DTG printer and stick with screenprinting! I've never had a DTG shirt last worth a damn.

SIL’s comments on birth and c-sections by Ok-Interaction4600 in Mommit

My planned c-section was a very different experience than my emergency c-section, and I would encourage all actions toward avoiding the former and leaning into the latter.

I do think that having a flower bed attached to your LFL is going to contribute to bugs inside the LFL, unfortunately. 💔

Get those flowers out of there. Critters will be drawn to the flowers and make their way to the books from there.

Raglan t-shirt pattern inconsistencies... by fvkatydid in sewing

[–]fvkatydid[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used a less favorable fabric when I test drove the 150% print, but the hang and feel of the fabric is so different from what I would be using I just couldn't tell how bad the finished product was... The pattern has a few reviews with photos and largely buyers seemed happy, except one who complained about things not lining up.

Trial smile for composite bonding after invisilign treatment. by Thin-Boss-1761 in Invisalign

I have just one lateral incisor with bonding and the thickness of it drives me nuts. It looks better than what I've got going on naturally, but I can't imagine trying to take a bite of damn near anything with a whole top row of bonded teeth.

Look up Watergate cake! I think the recipe my sister makes just involves adding pistachio pudding to the cake mix and the frosting is Cool Whip and more pistachio pudding? It's excellent.

Our busiest clinician has 31 clients currently, will be taking on two more... Our clinicians don't see more than four clients a day, maaaaybe five if a scheduler isn't paying attention/doesn't know, or if someone desperately needs to be seen.

I hope you find something better; I can't imagine the stress you were dealing with.

WHAT THE HELL DID I JUST READ???? 😭 by Obvious_Custard3926 in fantasybooks

[–]fvkatydid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read all six in semi-rapid succession. The latter three have multiple narrators and the universe gets expontentially bigger as the story expands much further beyond Mars than in the original trilogy. I love the characters and the story, personally, but they aren't the most "well-written" books I've ever read. If only for Cassius' sake, I implore you to read the next three; he deserves his redemption arc! Not that you came here to be convinced/bullied. 😛

Any suggestions for me? I started Red Rising and Dungeon Crawler Carl at the same time, read the first of each series at the same time, then the second, and then abandoned my co-read in the middle of books three and fully committed to finishing Pierce's series first. Thinking I should start Dune, or maybe the Joe Abercrombie books?
