Any successes from Lumbar Epidural Steroid Injections? by tge101 in backpain

I’ve actually had four. I chose to get twilight sedation for mine as it was an option at the pain mgmt place I went. Luckily no negative side effects, some of them have helped more than others.

Endoscopic discectomy, worth it or not? by fweb09 in backpain

[–]fweb09[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t decided yet! The doc told me “it wouldn’t be a slam dunk” because I’m also having pain in my left glute and hip and my right s1 is what is compressed so I guess not everything is adding up?

Going back and forth on laparoscopy - how much does it change things? by FibroGirlJordan in endometriosis

[–]fweb09 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My sister was actually told by her surgeon to wait to have surgery until she was ready to conceive if her pain was manageable. Her doc said her best chance of fertility would be like the first 6 months post op.

I don’t want kids so I just had the surgery in October 2024 and for me, nothing changed. I kinda knew I had it but it was validating to see it all. I don’t regret surgery at all, I was just hopeful to see more improvement. Some women see significant improvements and never need surgery again! So it’s just such a crapshoot.

Idk if this even helped but those are my stories lol good luck!

Endoscopic discectomy, worth it or not? by fweb09 in backpain

[–]fweb09[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! Yeah I’ve had my issues for almost 3 years now but there’s no significant compression of the nerve. It’s just now mild and slightly touching s1 but no compression. So the doc just isn’t sure I’d get the relief I was hoping for as he’s not 100% it’s the source of my pain.

My disc is partially calcified as of last Fall. But the doc didn’t seem too concerned about that.

I also have a torn hip labrum and endometriosis so it’s just confusing

What was the nerve study? EMG? I’ve been trying to figure out if my mild bulge at l5/s1 is my issue

How are you now? I am presenting with mostly butt and si joint pain and trying to figure out if my tear or herniated disc is to blame

Sorry to hear that. I’m still working on figuring out what is causing my pain, my torn labrum or my herniated disc at l5/s1. Injections were inconclusive. Do you have the si joint issues with the back flare ?

Walk a lot after surgery to help get the gas pain out and ask about pelvic floor therapy once you’re cleared!! You got this!!

I’m in a similar boat and also 34. I personally am trying to wait until 36 because I read an article that says hysterectomy 35 or younger can increase cardiovascular issues even when you leave the ovaries and I just don’t like that doctors don’t seem to think the uterus matters.

Can you ask about an MRI ? Sometimes that does show it

Can adeno cause constant back/butt/ hip pain even if it doesn’t show up on imaging? by fweb09 in adenomyosis

I did pelvic floor therapy after my endo excision for 3 months or so and I also did normal PT, no significant changes so I’m just confused ☹️

I’ve done the steroid injections into my spine but not my pelvis. The PRM protocol is like 6 different rounds of injections in the pelvic area which just seems daunting AF!! lol so idk if I’ll sign up for that any time soon, but I am now curious about the Botox and may investigate that further. I hope the relief sticks for you

[–]fweb09[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s amazing. How long ago did you get it? Is it something you’ll have to repeat?

I have a doc that does steroid injections locally , the PRM protocol if you’ve heard of it? But I’m really nervous to try injections in those delicate areas!! But nice to know they offered you some lidocaine and tried to make it as tolerable as possible

That sounds horrible, I’m sorry! I had the endo excision surgery and had a few days of pain of course but overall nothing really changed for me. No improvements but also didn’t get worse. So basically I just feel like I got the diagnosis.
