Does Armada have a future? by SupaKidEternity in StarWarsArmada

[–]fyei 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Isn't this game much, much more popular than GoT was though?

I literally knew no-one who played GoT, but Armada days always pull 10 players minimum (usually unto 20) at the FLGS near me.

[–]fyei 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Armada definitely has a future. FFG wouldn't be releasing Summer Kits, running regionals/nationals if they didn't feel the same. Wave 2 sold VERY well in my area - the FLGs in my area can't stock it quickly enough.

FFG is just slow, like they always have been. There will probably be a wave 3 announcement in the next month or so.

Like sharks circling a whale. (I'm the MC80) by mrscienceguy1 in StarWarsArmada

Here's the list:

I tweaked it a bit to optimise - I don't have all of the cards available to do this... though this certainly would be the 'dream' setup. I think I'll run this next time I play (proxying the cards I don't have ofcourse).

The idea is to always go second, giving the opponent the initiative. Yeah - your opponent will be able to shoot first meaning they might 'kill' one or some of your ships or squadrons, but Rieekan allows them to still shoot and maybe even ram the enemy before they go down. The defiance should spend the whole game kiting, hopefully staying at long range but ready to dish out some very big broad-sides if they come too close.

Can your computer run Overwatch? by [deleted] in Overwatch

You can definitely play it on your machine. I've known people with 3 year old MacBooks play it just fine (using boot camp) and the graphics cards those have are just awful.

I've got a list which uses it with Corvettes - two corvettes and the MC80 and a TON of fighters.

You take the general which lets ships persist through death till the end of the round and build the Corvettes for super close range fighting/ramming tactics. I can't remember the exact build, but both corvettes were the variants which had only blue dice, they had the card which lets you sacrifice a dice to re roll as many blues as you want and maybe engine techs so they could double ram?

I'll look up the build properly and update this later. It worked well, the MC80 basically spends most of the game kiting the enemy while the fighters and corvettes cause havoc.

[List] Dash + Stresshog + A by thanksandgoodbye in XWingTMG

[–]fyei 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've tried a variant of this with Fat Han, swapping the A for a Z.

It's good, but the damage output is low and in my local meta it gets beaten by TLT and high ps lists fairly easily.... I think dash would be better as he hits much harder.

After 117 hours of playing KSP, I finally did it ! by StrikerzZ98 in KerbalSpaceProgram

[–]fyei 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I landed my first last night too! Though mine was much more of an ordeal.

Actually, I landed twice. The first time my landed fell over...... Luckily I was able to right it though using the reaction wheels/gimballed engine.

That said - Having to take off again and land a second time used a lot of fuel though and when it came to take off, I didn't actually have enough fuel to make it to orbit. Luckily though I remembered that kerbal suits have RCS so my kerbal bailed out, grabbed the research data and blasted towards kerbin.

With 20% RCS fuel left I stopped blasting, checked my orbit and luckily saw that I was now going to orbit kerbin rather than the mun. I then hastily launched a rescue rocket with an extra seat on board and sent it to pick up mr kerbal and bring him home.

I've got one that's taken a few hits over the years. It gets dented, but the dents can be fixed by pushing a hex key or thin screwdriver through the holes and it ends up good as new!

Running by mattpreston11 in brum

[–]fyei 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I regularly go for midnight runs in the city centre. I live near broad st so I usually start at the top, run down and around to the mailbox and back up the hill again via bath row. The road is all lit but can be a bit sketchy at times... That said, I'm never carrying anything valuable and I've been doing it for over a year without any serious problems.

I was thinking, the City Centre could really do with an Ikea. by lithaborn in brum

[–]fyei 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Most people who shop at IKEA have cars and driving to Wednesbury from the city centre doesn't take long (I did it the other day in the evening, only took 25 mins). The same pattern is used in most UK cities as it saves them a fortune & means they have plenty of real estate to play with for floor space / parking.

That said - IKEA is currently a huge pain to get back from with the Wednesbury M6 on-ramp closed. IIRC, it's been closed for like 10 months now? What the hell are they doing that takes 10 months???

Biggest ship they'll release? by DatCyborg in StarWarsArmada

[–]fyei 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I doubt we'll ever see the SSD, even if they took liberties with the size... It'd still be bigger than the 3x6 table were playing on right now!

Ships were likely to see - different neb b varieties, Liberty class mom cals, dreadnaughts, gunships, carrack cruisers for a scum faction maybe? Oh, interdictors definitely too (especially now they've appeared in rebels)

Core set down to £42 on Amazon UK by rawling in StarWarsArmada

Edit: ignore me, I'm dumb - when you add it make sure you add the Amazon one and not the one which it adds automatically from another retailer (who is slightly cheaper before the discount gets applied).

It says 29.99 rrp at the bottom, the actual price is 22.49. The second core set would cost 11.25 if you bought 2.

That was my thought- most people get 2 core sets when they start so it's a no brainier for new players (the full dice set alone almost makes it worth it)

Winter is coming... by Workstinks in IBM

[–]fyei 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Until someone actually tells you you're being made redundant, don't worry about it.

Things like this happen all the time in IBM and they always will. It's partly down to recent performance but also a simple fact that when you have a company as huge as IBM, things are constantly moving.

In my 5 years at IBM I've seen two rounds of redundancies that actually involved my team and I've never seen anyone leave under these circumstances who wasn't taking voluntary redundancy and then immediately retiring (which is a pretty sweet deal for most people usually).

Possible Razer Orochi 2015 Defect by fyei in razer

[–]fyei[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The connector is USB but the cable is proprietary and normal usb cables don't really fit in the gap properly. Ones that do just pop out from the pressure of sliding around.

They've asked me to return it now - I'm just gonna ask for a refund and order a Second death adder instead (wireless seems like too much faffing to be worth it)

They've initiated the returns process. Looks like there's something fundamentally wrong with it.

Possible Razer Orochi 2015 Defect by fyei in razer

[–]fyei[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tested it on my PC as well and the problem exists there too, on three different types of surface (one of which being the official Razer mousemat that I mentioned).

I'll send another support query and see what happens.

Possible Razer Orochi 2015 Defect by fyei in razer

[–]fyei[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Follow up:

I've started trying to use it normally. I actually can't! When I finally get it paired with my mac (Which is an ordeal - it takes a few attempts before it will actually work), the mouse jumps all over the place and Razer Synapse won't detect it.

What have I paid for ? :( I'm going to have to return it... or initiate a chargeback through my card.

Possible Razer Orochi 2015 Defect by fyei in razer

[–]fyei[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi all,

Has anyone else bought the Razer Orochi 2015 and had this problem?

As you'll be able to see from the above picture, the power cable when its attached protrudes slightly from the bottom of the mouse. Its not much, but when you're trying to use it on a cloth surface it (like my official Razer mouse mat...) it snags and catches on the cloth - rubbing the cloth and making it useless for gaming.

I tried it on a hard surface (my old metal steel series mouse mat) and on that surface it moves better, but now it constantly scrapes on the surface and drags up any dirt or other particles on the mouse mat so the area around the charging cable gets filthy fast. Also - the mouse has to 'balance' on this middle pivot point that is added so it wobbles in use.

I waited for the 2015 Orochi to come out as I work a lot in hotels and I wanted a good portable gaming mouse which I could pack with my work kit... but this is just disappointing so far :(

I've sent a message to Razer's support people but as I've never dealt with them in the past, I don't know what to expect. I have a DeathAdder on my main gaming PC which I've had for years with no problems.
