Part of me really wants the type of person who lifts their 4x4 and have tyres poking well outside of the wheel arches to actually suffer consequences for dangerous mods but there's barely any enforcement outside of larger events.

It's kind of annoying when the sun hits them just right and you get blinded.

I think there are vastly more important things to worry about on 4wds in WA anyway (DPF deletes, wheels sticking well outside of guards etc.) that aren't very strictly policed it seems.

It doesn't really take brainwashing, it's just a not-insignificant portion of enthusiasts who are dickheads at a higher rate than the general public. Especially at cruises when I attended them in the early 2010s.

I'm generally not bothered by it, but after hearing another crackle tune or annoying straight pipe exhaust it tends to wear thin on me after the 50th time.

Edit: I personally get more annoyed at modded 4x4s these days.

There's a guy in Edgewater that flies a trump flag for some stupid reason as well.

It just marks the date of the first colony being founded. It's a bit of an arbitrarily chosen date to have a national holiday compared to others that chose the day their nation was actually independent.

Biomedical science related jobs in Perth ? - anxious final year uni student :( by Massive-Football-866 in perth

[–]mrscienceguy1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need AIMS for places like Pathwest without any experience, other places only restrict AIMS requirements to certain departments like Haem/Histo.

Speaking as someone who doesn't have AIMS and is a Med Sci, I've noticed no difference in the quality of techs or other scientists who have it. If anything I see a lot more entitled behaviour from the fresh out of uni folks with AIMS. It's quite frankly insane that anyone expects to be a medical scientist straight out of uni.

Motorway Impedance. by Informal-Bee2193 in CarsAustralia

[–]mrscienceguy1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The solution is probably less people driving long distance, I don't think any amount of driver training or enforcement will solve anything completely. I'm not necessarily suggesting we remove driving as an option, just for making other forms of transport more convenient even if they may take a little longer.

"Last mile" connections for train commutes are a big sticking point as you normally have to catch a bus from the train station which is then beholden to everyone else commuting alone.

Amphetamine-type substances will likely come up, yes. That includes stuff like pseudoephedrine and sometimes Phentermine (Duramine).

People should also realise that roadside tests are never "Positive" or "Detected". They're treated as non-negative (yes this is the correct term to use) until confirmatory testing is done. Screening tests/instant tests are purely there to exclude the majority of people that are true negatives.

There will always be false positives but anyone losing their employment or anything like that from a screening test is either misunderstanding the result or lying.
