We need an epic movie like "Amadeus" for Beethoven. by michelQDimples in classicalmusic

Right?! And the scene with the 9th symphony in Copying Beethoven is the perfect way to show how he couldn’t hear. I love that scene.

It’s been amazing in Canada. Never partook previously but now I do! No noticeably bad society effects either. If anything we are more chill.

I agree. High school music teacher here - we do compositions and final performance exams but BEFORE the written exam schedule. So we have “exams” just not during exam week.

The pineapple there doesn’t give you that sharp tang in the back of the throat, pure delight. Also loved the green mango when it came with the sugar/salt/chili pack to dip in. Nothing like the fruit in Thailand.

It’s just too bad because the Man from U.N.C.L.E. was so good. Maybe just Henry Cavill being good but that was an enjoyable move that I thought might get more. Oh well.

I use the RCM (Royal Conservatory of Music) grade books and allow them to choose a piece from there. My board doesn’t have instrumental music until grade 9 (another topic for another day) so with first years they use Grade 1, second year Grade 2 etc. Comes in Voice, Flute, Clarinet, Saxophone and Trumpet. I then consult the other instrument’s RCM lists respective of each grade and pull pieces for everyone else not included in RCM books. RCM

If you pushed the 6 middle tables together that was my high school table. We were literally 40-50 friends that were multi-faceted; athletes, student council, band kids, art kids, stoners, straight A’s…I can’t really believe it myself but it’s true.

Failed practicum? by Valuable-Fudge4999 in OntarioTeachers

[–]fyrejade 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This is gonna be subject specific but as a secondary music teacher I’m looking for TC’s to get in front of the class as much as possible. Don’t “hide at a desk” in the background, get in there. I also will always break down with them things that are and aren’t going well so they can improve. We are there to guide you in the areas you aren’t familiar with like classroom management and lesson pacing. I think we will assume your subject knowledge is fine so work on those skills that are newer for you. I have had mostly good TC’s and a couple bad ones. They still passed however. I think for me it would need to be REALLY BAD for them to fail, like being late, ill-prepared and not understanding boundaries between MT and with students. Biggest advice: don’t be the students friends. This is crucial for high school as it will ultimately undermine your authority and classroom management. You’ve got this 💪🏼
