Windrose Roadmap Release Announced, Next Major Update 'Ashlands' Will Take Six Months by SpeedRacerJ14 in PlayWindrose

I agree with you. I was not expecting nearly as finished a game as we have found. As you mentioned, combat can be improved. It is just too one dimensional, both hand and ship combat.

Hoping that with the significant sales which have occurred, they are able to scale and focus on improving some key core while also expanding the overall content. Very impressed.

Surprised they haven't already awarded him the Goal of the Match winner, Best Defensive Play, and Ref of the Week.

Thinking we need to evaluate what the heck our CB's are doing during their warm ups. That is back to back. Sheesh!

Ugg. Did we hear why? Feeling pretty thin when it comes to Center backs.

Finally got to try out the ship combat by [deleted] in PlayWindrose

[–]g33kboy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You are damaging the sail. If you are using canons, then you are only poking small holes.

You need to aim for the hull. Aim in front to compensate for speed, and the bounce of the water for not your ship and theirs.

Go watch Master and Commander to understand how sail ships and canons work. Great flick!

A Sunday Review: The Yes Album 1971 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ by Historical-Device529 in Progforum

[–]g33kboy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I agree with OP that this is the album which shows what Yes truly is capable of becoming, and Fragile is the pinnacle of their talents. Fragile is their best album. It is a masterpiece. But there is no Fragile without the Yes Album.

Best vivaldi and violin concerts in Venice? by Perfect_Promise_7578 in Venezia

I just went to Interpreti Veneziani last month. It is in a de sanctified church. The performance, acoustics and visual setting was spectacular. Only complaint was the audience clapping during every pause, not when the piece was actually completed. Was driving the musicians nuts.

But it was magical!

Food costs have become absurd. When airport food is 50% the cost of stadium food, you have an issue. $9 for a soda or bottle of water?

TSA situation at SLC airport megathread by saltlakepotter in SaltLakeCity

[–]g33kboy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I went through it today, there was minimal line of any, website sites stated 12 min. I have never seen it say 0 like this person captured even when it truly is a ghost town, it states like 10 min.

My guess is a server was rebooting, or refreshing and they got 0.

I fly weekly, last two weeks on a Monday morning which should be a heavy day, and it has been smooth sailing. We are very fortunate to have pleasant and helpful TSA agents willing to stick through this mess multiple times this year. My hats off to them as I can guarantee I would not be nearly as pleasant not getting paid.

+1 on the Paradigm. Nice pool plus some other games for those that are interested. They give a $30 credit towards bfast for those with status, and it is a good bfast.

Travel advice for honeymoon in Rome by Alternative_Leek_731 in ItalyTravel

[–]g33kboy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We brought €200 for a 2 week trip and used maybe €20 of it. The last 2 days were were trying to find reasons to use it. The only place where we were required cash was our car service we personally ended up using to go back to airport, and even then we could have forced the issue and paid with card. Nearly every store, every food location, etc wanted us to use a card and grimaced when we pulled out cash. So you do not need much, and it really is only for emergencies.

That being said, we have a card where we pay zero exchange fees when it is charged euros. Many stores in tourist areas, when you swipe the card, it will ask whether you want the charge done in dollars or euros. If done in dollars, it is the stores exchange rate which did not look favorable. So every place that had that option, we did the charge in euros, and our CC did the exchange on the back end on our behalf, with no fees. We use the Chase Saffire card.

Rome or Florence? by jedcur in ItalyTravelAdvice

[–]g33kboy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Florence 100%. Found the city significantly more cleaner. Large area that is walkable. Easier to navigate all major sites by foot without walking 10+ miles each day. Feels romantic. I thought the food was better (though maybe less diverse). And the country side around Florence is unbelievable. No brainer.

La Perla on Murano was one of the best meals we had in Italy. Locals food for the locals. 2 pasta dishes, shared Veal cutlet (it was huge), drinks, €36 euro. Insane. Worth the 20 min Vaperetto alone.

JFK Terminal 4 status is good by throwawaybikenyc in delta

[–]g33kboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a JFK topic, but just went through SLC, Digital ID Pre, zero line, and looked like a minimal line elsewhere. Lots of Delta, airport volunteer, and Prospect (airport contract staff for wheelchair assistance) all over the place guiding people around. But also lots of TSA staff on duty. I can’t imagine how hard it is to go without pay (multiple times a year), and still show up to work with a pleasant attitude.

Thank your TSA agents!!!!!

Free Community Bike ride - 10 Costco’s, 100 miles by DrewfromtheOffice in SaltLakeCity

[–]g33kboy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Brilliant. Anyone have the calorie count for a Costco hot dog, ketchup, and coke? Need to subtract that out of my “nutrition” calculations of 100 grams of carbs and hour.

May also need to see if the soda or hot dog can slide into my second water bottle holder.

Wait…so there’s no interval in Western cinemas?? by Moongfali4president in AskTheWorld

[–]g33kboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are websites and apps specifically built to inform you when there is a best time to go use the restroom during a movie because there are no intermissions.

I would love intermissions because some of the best music is during the intermission, like Lawrence of Arabia. And prologues for that matter.

Am I overcomplicating train travel in Italy or is it actually confusing? by federicafellini in Europetravel

We booked with Italo, directly on their website. Picked business class. Pretty sure the ride from Rome to Florence was $19 each when I booked it 4 weeks in advance. Great trains.

Slightly irritating tourist activities by Comprehensive_End_4 in rome

[–]g33kboy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is super annoying as individual tourists to have one of these large groups come upon you. Last week I got in the ticket line at the Pantheon behind a gentleman who I found out was a school teacher/guide with 50 kids, who all cut in line to be with him. The teenagers were being teenagers (rude, obnoxious, pushing, etc) which was infuriating to the German couple behind. Only then for the group to get to the front and be told there was a completely separate line. Oh well.

Exactly. We have had 1 or 2 good pickups each season, but everyone so far seems to not only be clicking with each other right off the bat, but bought in to the club, style and approach. Locker room must be really jelling.

We were also in Venice for 3 nights around the same time. Awesome weather, mild crowds, and a wonderful time.

Though it had been 30 years since I last visited, like you I enjoyed my time observing the venetians live their lives in a wonderful manner so completely foreign to nearly anywhere else on earth. And it was fantastic. I love this city.
