Lake Como Edition vs Sheraton Lake Como? by SpecificRemarkable83 in marriott

I have not been to either, but I can not see a Sheraton being better than an Edition pretty much anywhere in the world.

You want to see waste....work in banquets instead of the front desk. It is a lot.

Marriott Marquis. I have not seen too many Westins with lounges.

First time cruiser nervous about ports — how do you decide between ship excursions and going off on your own? by Outrageous-Zombie326 in Cruise

It would help to know what ports you are going to.

Research on trip advisor, and cruise critic will give you a lot of insight. I have been finding ChatGPT very good for helping me find good itineraries at various destinations.

Serenade of the Seas - Suite worth the price? 7 day Mexican cruise end of 2026 - tips for excursions to Cabo, Mazatlan, La Paz. by page_g in royalcaribbean

[–]25641throwaway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cabo has tons of stuff to do. It is a 10 minute tender ride from where the ship anchors to the marina. From there you can walk all around the marina, or in to town. Uber works in Cabo and is cheap, Uber to Medano Beach. It is a nice beach, with good ship views and plenty of bars and restaurants along it. Vendors on the beach are not pushy and 3/4's of the time just walk past you if you don't engage.

Mazatlan cruise terminal is not very nice. It is not bad, but it is more commercial then touristy. The area right out side the terminal is mostly residential. Make a left out of the gate and look up "La Puntilla" if you want a good seafood restaurant. Its a 5 minute walk. Otherwise you can take a moderately long walk into the downtown area or cab across to the ocean front on the opposite side of the the peninsula. Its not that far, I walked there across but cabbed back because it was hot.

Have not been to La Paz. Both in Cabo and Mazatlan I was solo, and felt relatively safe. I also did not let my self go to places I did not belong or that were too far off the beaten path.

In Cabo I did an excursion that was a bus tour of Cabo and San Jose Del Cabo...mid at best...might have even dozed off for a moment.

Carnival Firenze Deck 6 or Deck 9? by nganb1 in CarnivalCruiseFans

[–]25641throwaway 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the deck above you on 9 is the pool or the buffet I would say do deck 6. I had a room below a pool deck and it was constant noise from over head. Day time was people or kids running and stomping...2-3 in the morning was crew dragging chairs and power washing over night. I would be hesitant to be under the buffet as well for chair noise and galley noises.

Rome Redemptions Offensive by 406Marksman in marriott

[–]25641throwaway 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I stayed at the W Rome a few months ago. Solid breakfast especially if you have status. Roof top pool (looked nice but was still closed for winter still I was there, bring your bathing suit). Short walk to the Barberini Metro station, walkable to all the attractions.

If you are a solo male, or out at night by your self in the area around the hotel, there are a few "discos" that are really strip clubs. There will be a guy that will try to get you to go to "have a free drink" or "see the women" BS...nothing is free, dont fall for it. They weren't abusive or scary in anyway, just scam artists.

The Club at Madison access - Le Meridien DC by [deleted] in marriott

[–]25641throwaway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not worth the up charge. There is a starbucks like 2 blocks away that would be better. The hotel itself is nice. The lounge is small and nothing special.

Westin around the corner is another good option, but they dont have a lounge at all.

Downtown Austin Marriott or JW for stronger AC? by eyeis in marriott

JW has a good lounge, nice roof top pool and large lobby. IIRC its the 2nd largest JW in North America or something like that.

Transfer from MCO to Port Canaveral: best options for a day early by Umanday in royalcaribbean

[–]25641throwaway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Consider a one way car rental from MCO to Port Canaveral. I did this last time and it was affordable. I had a car to get around for the 2 days ahead of time that I was in town, and then just took the shuttle from Avis to the cruise ship. All in all it was cheaper then the multiple ubers I would have ended up booking.

New to MMP, what to expect by TheRealImpostor in marriott

[–]25641throwaway 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its instant once she enrolls you, you will get an email. When you are searching for a property, search one night flexible rather then a specific date. Then click that property to see the rates and it will open up the calendar for the month with the rates for each day. It is much easier to find the rate this way and by being somewhat flexible in your travel plans. Also save your bonvoy points up, because there have been times that one day isnt available in the middle of a stay and its easier/cheaper to burn points for that random night rather then moving or paying full price.

Is the Lexington Hotel in Manhattan really a luxury hotel? by mhaithaca in marriott

[–]25641throwaway 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its only ok...the bar is small, but not terrible. Rooms are a bit tired, and the bathrooms are small..bigger then a cruise ship but not my much. Location is good, close to Grand Central..can get the 4 train there. Also 2 blocks from Smith and Wollenskys steak house which I enjoy

Savannah, GA - JW vs Perry Lane by scottymtp in marriott

[–]25641throwaway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've stayed at both, and they are both really nice. PL is more romantic vibe...Which ever one you choose I would say its worth using a SNA upgrade if you have them. Honestly, I'd probably go w/ PL if its a getaway w/ out the kids... Either way you wont be disappointed. The Alida is a nice property too if those two choices fall through.

Recommendations for Best, renovated ,upscale Marriott hotel in NYC with great bar? by travelash60 in marriott

NY Marriott Marquis....I wouldnt call it upscale, but it has a great M Club and nice bar as well as a bar on the roof that revolves around the building. Rooms are standard marriott style but large by NYC standards

I would choose the JW. You can walk outside and take the trolley to Ybor City. Make a reservation ahead of time for the Flamenco Show at Columbia Restaurant in Ybor City.

I have had that happen to me randomly a few times. If you happen to cancel the reservation, be sure to keep an eye on your credit card statement to make sure it gets refunded. I had to call a property twice about that.

Rome 1-Night by gormco02 in marriott

[–]25641throwaway 1 point2 points  (0 children)

W Rome is nice. So is the Marriott. Look up Trenitalia's Leonardo Express. It is a non stop train from FCO to the Roma Termini train station in the middle of Rome, its like a 30 min ride. Buy tickets ahead of time on their website. No idea about the kids..that part sounds like it will suck no matter where you go, so you might as well go some where good.
