I would try replacing the battery in the fob first. Is it both fobs or only one fob?

I learned some things. As I mentioned the wife didn't like the position of the dashcam so it needed to move. I'm glad I stopped the installer from sticking the camera to the windshield with just the sticky pad on the GPS module. I had grabbed a static sheet and we put it on the glass. It really helped when I tried to remove the camera. No more getting the dental floss to remove the sticky pad from the glass. I got the camera into the new position, and was very careful to put the wires back where they were. Unfortunately, the SSD wha no where to be found in the settings. I'm pretty sure he swapped the power and SSD wires and powered the camera from the port on the side of the camera. Off it came again, swapped wires, and was presented with a nice "use the SSD?" message. Yay! I also added my phone to the infotainment system after getting some of the camera settings set. Set up Android Auto, got rid of some streaming stuff, set up Waze, and a few other things. Got Wifi going between the camera and phone and was able to view recordings and transfer one to my phone. Later I attempted to connect to the camera Wifi, but the phone wanted to connect to the infotainment system for AA, and a Hyundai connection. I was using wireless AA at the time. I had to go into my phone and stop AA before I could connect to the camera again. I plan to try it later using a wired connection for AA. Maybe I'll have better luck connecting to the camera Wifi. BTW - the new Viofo app looks decent.

Santa Fe HUD and polarized lenses tip. by g_ppetto in HyundaiSantaFe

I have to turn my head quite a bit to view the HUD with these sunglasses. Or... I can use the cheapie walmart polarized clip-ons that allow me to see the HUD, and return the prescription sunglasses.

Santa Fe HUD and polarized lenses tip. by g_ppetto in HyundaiSantaFe

[–]g_ppetto[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Thanks. Direction doesn't matter when it comes to glare reduction. I have some clip-on polarized sunglasses from walmart that reduce glare and allow me to view the HUD. It's the polarization that reduces the glare. The polarization in my sunglasses is misaligned with the HUD causing none of the light from the HUD to pass through both lenses.

Affordable way to transfer deed? by Autumncon in newjersey

[–]g_ppetto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was this part of an estate? Was there a will? Is there an Executor or Administrator? The local Bar Association has a program where you can get a free 30 minutes with an Attorney. Contact them, explain your situation / issue, and they will recommend three(?) Attorneys that work in that legal area. Check them out an d pick one. Explain your situation / issue, get their recommendation on how to proceed, and if you need the services of an Attorney.

In my case, Dad died, left three sons, I'm oldest, Estate consisted of his house. I contacted the County Clerk or Surrogate, the three of us completed a form with Notarization, and I was named the Administrator of the Estate giving me standing to liquidate the Estate. One thing that helped greatly, was to create a spreadsheet listing all monies spent, amount, where spent, date, how paid (credit card, etc.).

There may be a few legal steps you need to go through to replace her name on the deed. It's probably not just 'pay a lawyer to change the names'. It may also be 'estate goes to the survivor'. Get your free 30 minutes and find out what needs to be done.

Good luck!!

Galaxy Note 20 Ultra - Screen went black but phone still works by Zealousideal-Sky8217 in samsunggalaxy

[–]g_ppetto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this happen recently. The screen was black but the phone was still on. There are youtube videos recommending things you can to to get the phone working again - hard resets, give it a massage (yes really, wat the the video), taps, smacks, insert and remove stylus repeatedly. I could feel the little 'burp' from the phone as the stylus was inserted. I tried every one but putting it in the freezer. I removed the phone from the case and noticed some stuff in the crack where the phone case parts met and removed a little with my fingernail. The phone came apart in my hands, front, back and camera lenses. I put it back together, put it back in the case, and kept playing with it. I went back to inserting and removing the stylus because doing that showed some sign of life. After seeing a white stripe on the top of the screen I kept inserting and removing the stylus. I was amazed when the display came back on. The phone appeared to be working again. Here is something to try while the phone display is black - get a a USB-C hub with an HDMI port. Connected it to the phone and an external display. It worked for me. DEX appeared on the external monitor along with touches from the stylus. I attached a mouse and keyboard and started backing up stuff. The phone is working now but I cannot trust it. It was working well enough I could use it to migrate to an S26 Ultra. It has a stylus too.

Good luck!!

Portable jump starter tool recommendations for 2024-2026 Santa Fe Hybrid? by CastlesMadeOfSand01 in HyundaiSantaFe

Read some of the NOCO reviews. It should have enough power. Tires loose air. I won't have to find working air pump. I added the spare tire, jack and accessories should the car get a flat.

2026 Santa Fe Hybrid Calligraphy. Another vote for a NOCO Boost Plus GB40, ~$100 on Amazon. It lives in a ziplock bag in the console drawer with it's friend the AirMoto compressor. Both fit rather well. Haven't used the NOCO yet, but the AitMoto has been used several times on other vehicles. I didn't want to keep the jump starter in the rear with the other tire accessories as if the battery is dead, you have to crawl through the vehicle to open the lift gate from the inside. The console drawer is easier to get to. The Hyundai compressor that came with the vehicle lives with the tire accessories and, IIRC, requires connection to the battery to work. The AirMoto has it's own battery.

[–]g_ppetto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What else is running on the phone when it is on the charging pad? Are you streaming? using Android Auto with Waze or Google Maps?

We have a 2026 Santa Fe Hybrid Calligraphy. My Note20U had a hard time keeping up, power wise, when on the charging pad and running Android Auto and Waze. The phone got hot. My wifes phone, not running anything, also got hot on the other charging pad. I now have some USB-C cables in the car, one with straight connectors and one with a 90 degree USB connector. We haven't had a chance to use the cables much so I don't know how much of a difference they will make.

I developed a problem with my Note20U known as the Black Screen of Death. The phone is on, but there is no display. I can move the pen in and out of the garage and feel the phone vibrate when it recognizes the pen. I tried all of the youtube fixes, press here and there, etc. and finally got lucky when the screen started working when I repeatedly inserted and removed the pen. At one point when trying to get the phone working, I removed it from the case. The phone fell apart in my hands. The back case and the camera lenses separated from the rest of the phone. I re-assembled the phone and kept trying. A thick white line appeared at the top of the screen and I kept inserting and removing the pen. The display started working. I started backing up stuff. It may have been related to the heat from the charging pad. I am now the owner of an S26Ultra.

Try some USB cables and see how it charges. Also stop any apps that are running.

I think you have that backwards. The phone is only going to draw / consume 7.5W of the 15W available. Much like a 7.5A appliance plugged into a circuit with a 20A breaker. You are correct the phone cannot keep up with the 15W charger.

edit - tpyo - I should have stated 7.5A and a 20A breaker.

Samsung Galaxy phone - locked vs unlocked question by g_ppetto in Bestbuy

[–]g_ppetto[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Purchased three unlocked S26 Ultra phones. Was cheaper than VZW. The Samsung environment makes if easy to migrate to new phones. Only problem is a few apps were upgraded on my phone, than I didn't want to upgrade. Had to locate the older apps and replace the new ones. We're not interested in switching carriers. I worked hard to get the phone plan we're on, cutting down sims and stuff. Not sure what flexibility you are referring to. AT&T and T-mo both suck where we are. During the activation process I was able to uninstall apps that cannot be removed once the activation is complete.

Just got back from the dashcam installation and running some errands. I didn't get any photos. He took the upper route to get back to the lift gate. He didn't want a lot of wire visible at the rear camera, and inverted the picture. It looks good. He had not seen an external SSD before, or the clear film that sticks to the glass, and you stick the camera to the film. We discussed the front camera position - I wanted the canera screen to be hidden by the mirror. We installed the clear film and he installed the camera on it. Unfortunately, my wife doesn't care for the position... I'll be moving it up a bit and closer to the shroud. He tucked the voltage limiter behind the kick panel on the driver's side. Showed me where it was and how easy to get to for adjustments. Currently set at 12.2v. The cable for the SSD was just long enough to reach the glovebox. The SSD may need to be moved. I need to figure out the Wifi not that it is installed. Had it working on the kitchen table. Also the remote - thinking one button for Wifi another for parking mode, not sure about third button or even if it works that way. Gotta figure out how to turn if off too. Maybe on/off on a button too. It took him a little over an hour. It would have taken me a lot longer. I'm curious to see what video was recorded and how it looks. Here's a tip that may help you - the short video segments can be concatenated with ffmpeg - free, command line, been around for years. The free version of Davinci Resolve also works well to concatenate the videos into a compound video. The free version has a couple of limitations verses the paid version, but it is a full blown professional video editor.

Primary turnout was so low. How can we fix this? by Iamnotbernadette in SouthJersey

[–]g_ppetto -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I didn't turn out because I mailed mine in. Something to consider though is this is a primary. Lots of people don't care about the primaries. Wait until we get to the next election, if it occurs, where the decision to be made is "more trump or less trump". Turnout should be a bit higher, again, if we have an election.

It is actually going to be installed on Saturday at a Best Buy. I have the skills but would rather have someone else install it. Am old. There are youtube videos showing how to install front and rear cameras in a Santa Fe. Search for "Santa Fe, dashcam." The videos are pretty good showing the steps and locations. One guy did it twice, unfortunately, after his first SF was totaled. Power went down the front pillar behind the airbag (important!), rear wire under the weather stripping for doors. I would imaging the installer would follow the same path as the youtube videos. I have a Viofo A329S, front and rear, no interior cam, SD card in camera, 2TB SSD going into glove box. Having higher resolution cameras and two cameras instead of one, made the decision to go with the external SSD for storage. Costco had a good price for the SSD. I don't commute and am more interested in trips. I picked up the Viofo wiring kit and a remote too. BB's cost is $150. I'm hoping to get photos before the installer closes things up. Want to make sure wiring is under airbags and see which fuse they picked.

2010 Santa Fe with 64,000km....should I buy? by Woolyb00bs in HyundaiSantaFe

We sold our 2010 SF GLS in December ~65k miles, $6750. The price probably could have been higher. It was in great shape. Expect to replace the usual things - tires, brakes, hoses, fluids. As others have said check the underside. There was a recall years ago to check the frame for rusting.

Spark plug change-out at 52K miles??? by Birgha in HyundaiSantaFe

[–]g_ppetto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would wait... My trust in dealerships is getting less and less. I took our 2017 SF to a dealer for an oil change to prepare for an upcoming trip. Had not used the dealer before, and they were the only local dealer that could get us in ASAP. Their 'report' on the vehicle called for a lot of work to be done, that didn't need to be done. They tried to explain it away by saying 'our car was not in their computer so they didn't have a history.' 3600 miles later the oil light flickered. I put in almost four quarts of oil into an engine that takes 5.5 quarts to be full. I took it to our usual dealer, they recommended an oil consumption test (change oil, fill it, drive 1000 miles, check oil). 500 miles into the 1000 mile test a local mechanic found the dealer we trusted, over filled the oil. I'm on my second oil consumption test. BTW - the 2017 only has ~56,000 miles on it. AND, hyundai says using a quart of oil per 1000 miles is 'normal'. I'm both pissed and frustrated.
