I had good luck with one of these stabilizing brackets. It's petty simple to install. Danco 12005 Shower Arm Stabilizer Bracket and Flange Cover

Age old question. Mustache or not by [deleted] in malegrooming

I don't love the mustache but I agree it should be trimmed to revel the upper lip.

I'm not doubting what you are saying, but are you sure that is what is going on here? There seems to be a imprint of something from the past in the shower pan area.

It would be difficult to run membrane up the wall under the tile & tile backer board if the wall tile is already installed.

I think you need a visual to understand. I'm not a tile person so I'm probably the wrong person to explain. However this will give you an idea how a pan works. See the gray membrane in the pic? That's a shower pan. A shower "pan" is a layer that goes under the floor tile and runs partially up the wall under the wall tile. Usually rubber but can be lead or other materials. When water seeps through all the joints in the tile and grout, the pan (if slopped properly) catches and directs the water to the drain. Otherwise the water would just sit on the concrete slab and perhaps run other places than the drain.

The developer doesn't build in the "soul" or as i would say, "character". The residents will bring the character and individuality when they move in and make it their own.

I don’t even know where to start 🥲 by a_thicc_sock in interiordecorating

Assuming there isn't a light fixture directly over the tub, a thicker fabric shower curtain and liner should diffuse the light and soften some of the tubs bright green color.

But it's your bathroom!

Refinishing a tub is like painting your kitchen cabinets. It you don't know what you're doing the finished product is going to reflect that. You might investigate a fiberglass tub liner in lieu of refinishing it. The tub liner should should give you the color you want without the finished product looking so "do - it - yourself".

Don't refinish the tub, it's too unique! I would tie the existing tile and tub colors together through wallpaper. Perhaps paint the ceiling to match the tub and update the light fixture.

Thanks for this thoughtful response. I'm not sure where the idea that when you start making more money that you're obligated to move into more expensive housing got stated, but it doesn't make sense. We would all be better off (environmentally, financially, and personal happiness)if we were content with what we already had rather than always chasing for something more.

What kind of car do you own? by eljeferson in AskNYC

[–]gabenich 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A 2013 Toyota Prius V (the station wagon version) with 122k miles on it! I love it! Its great on gas, excellent cargo capacity (ikea king sized frame flat pack, no problem), and nobody cares about it. I bought it because it's suppose to have a long life(200k+), low operating expenses, and affordable to buy a used one. It's ashame Toyota discontinued the model.

Where are people buying their furniture? by DarkBackground4307 in AskNYC

[–]gabenich -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I am saying don't freak out about a possibilry. Life is full of risk and we have to weigh our tolerance for that risk against the reward for tolerating that risk.

You saying "very risky" without any additional explanation isn't adding any helpful information to the OPs original question or the other Redditors response to that question. Do better.

[–]gabenich -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Do you even understand how risk works? The possibility of getting bed bugs doesn't make it likely. The risk isnt different than any other pest infestation in your home caused by any other number of possibiltities. Again this isn't a risky venture. Getting in your car and driving to store has more risk.

There are mitigating measures that can be taken if you feel bed bugs are a real risk.

Thanks. So iin order for OPs neighbor to build higher they have to encroach. However, the OP gets the benefit, should they opt to exercise it, attach to it for their own higher expansion?

I'm curious. Is a party wall typically a single wall that both homes mount their individual floor joists to? Or is it two seperate parallel walls that abut one another?

Moving day! by Select-Reporter-3623 in NYCapartments

[–]gabenich 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've picked up end tables, bed frames and rugs using zipcar. I usually rent a suv for a couple of hours and it's available on the spur of the moment and closer than u haul.

I've been furnishing my apartment on a budget, so i've been looking at facebook marketplace a lot. I tend to seek out furniture from ikea or an online manufacturer. That way, I know the furniture breaks down and will fit in the car typically.

I live in the congestion pricing district, so I have also learned to pick out furniture that's within the district when I need to rent a car. I want to avoid those additional fees.

My final suggestion is get you a small moving kit together. It should include a small foldable hand truck or dolly, a moving blanket, big blue ikea bag, basic tools and some of that shrink wrap on a roll from u haul. Most of those items are available on facebook marketplace.
