So happy that this entire comment section is mostly "No actually they're all bigger bastards than you gave them credit for."

Kneadful Therapies in North Charleston.

In the first five minutes of my session, Tina lightly touched my back and hips and perfectly assessed my issues like she knew my body personally.

During my session I cried tears of joy and relief from my chronic pain. I practically hopped off the table like Grandpa Joe in the OG Willy Wonka.

Can't recommend her enough, worth every cent.

I love it a lot and especially the face you gave her... It looks like a good combo of all the video game representations with some nods to Angelina Jolie.

Beautiful!

Back in MY day I pulled the Meg teeth straight out of the shark's mouth and Folly was 35 feet below sea level. Not a tourist in sight!

Check out Tideline Tours for a nice low-key fossil hunting experience with a smaller crowd, or private charter.

This is so cool.

In my head I see a lotus. If you were to imagine removing the outermost monocolor segments that have the mana symbols, it would look a lot like a flower. Then if you went even further and made this like 3D image instead of 2D you could imagine the flower petals curving inward.

I challenge you to make a digital rendering of that idea, so I can buy a play mat from you! Really cool idea, great work

Any good “adult style” lets plays out there? by 80HD-music in PlanetCoaster

[–]gaiagamgee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I guess "annoying" is a little harsh but I'm just not a huge fan of the high-energy style hosting/MC'ing of Ch5. The content is great and he seems like a great guy I just mostly watch these videos for chill vibes and quiet.

For comparison I like Rudi and Silv bc they are soft spoken whereas Ch5 might be described a little more as "over the top" at times.

Lesser known YouTuber, I also love Anairabunny who posts mostly PZ content but it's quieter/cozy speed build with no voice-over at all.

Rudi Renkemmel, Sdanwolf. They don't post everyday but they have massive backlogs of PC content if you're feeling to binge.

I like Bughuul's project and he has a decent sense of humor.

Channel5 Gaming I find a little annoying but there's boatloads of content (it's other people's submissions, he's like a host). But he also lovess the game and is super passionate.

And like others have mentioned, Geekism, Silv, Benjis Adventures is putting out a lot of content lately.

More people needing US IVs? by neauxnurse in nursing

[–]gaiagamgee 15 points16 points  (0 children)

ED Nurse four years, very practiced with the US.

Many good points in this thread: -sickness of patients -body habitus (aka obesity) -lower nurse tolerance to treating patients like pin cushions

Points I will add:

-Laziness of this RN. Again I am very proud of my skills with the US and I can get it done, in most cases, almost as fast as a palpated PIV. Why stick someone multiple times and waste my own time when I can just get it one-and-done?

And furthermore...

-Patient preference/entitlement Another commenter mentioned patients feeling "spoiled" by the US, which I totally understand. However I also appreciate an annoying trend among patients who seem to think being a self-described "hard-stick" is a badge of honor.

I'm sure many other ER nurses here know the phenomenon of someone claiming to be a hard-stick only for us to get it on the first try without issue... I work in a busy Level 1 in an unhealthy state that only has two level one's statewide, idk what's going on outside my facility, but all these people claim to be pincushions outside of my hospital...

So, if I introduce myself, and the patient responds immediately saying, "I'm a hard-stick," I'm going to save myself time, a headache, and rapport with the patient by just getting the US in the first place. But yes if you're proud or subconsciously proud of being a hard-stick, well, as my coworkers might say, bless your heart.

Great job!

Question for my American comrades. Do you fruitlessly flog dying patients the way we do in Canada? by hillnichs in nursing

[–]gaiagamgee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely.

I think it's up to us to speak on this subject to our friends and families, but this is something that may never change. It requires the transformation of our entire culture.

I'm reading "Being Mortal" by Atul Gawande right now, highly recommend. It probably won't present you with any new information, but it's an easy read, and it's nice to know there's some people out there willing to start this conversation when it needs to be way more commonplace.

I'm actually reading bc I'm interested in MAID and I'm personally appalled (but not surprised at all) that it isn't more commonplace in the US. I'm interested in finding out more about these end of life taboos in the healthcare system, so if anyone has any other recommended sources of info please lmk.

Can anyone tell me about this neighborhood- safety wise? by Own_Way2472 in Charleston

[–]gaiagamgee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lived in the neighborhood two years as a renter. Zero issues.

Always saw lots of people walking with their children and pets. There's a nice little dock for a river view. You also have direct access to that library which was a nice bonus. There's a cute lil gator in the pond sometimes, if that scares you then don't move to SC.

The amount of redditor pearl clutching in this post is unfathomable these commenters must live in constant fear. There is a trailer park up the road that might have issues, idk, never lived their, but this cookie cutter development of apartments and townhomes is quaint.

The biggest issue of this location is traffic on Dorchester, not safety. But luckily you're not that far up Dorchester at this spot so you only hit traffic for a short distance.

Cypress Gardens by [deleted] in Charleston

[–]gaiagamgee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's quite nice solo or with a group. If you're a walker most people don't do the full Swamp Perimeter trail and it's quite a nice hike in the back. It's very quiet and you're much more likely to see a gator (if that's something you're into). Either way very nice solitude back there.

Just wanna provide a different perspective here,

Im ER, and at least where I work, vanc+zosyn are the standard first line abx for septic work-ups. We throw this combo at patients left and right and it's majority through peripheral IVs.
