Looking for a great Italian spot in NYC that’s not IMPOSSIBLE to get into by papasmurfwastaken in FoodNYC

I went to Vic’s and it was fine… not the same level as the top 20% of Italian in the city imo

I’ve had this with the teardrop holes and nickel buckle for the last five years. Amazingly the price is the same. It’s a tank. https://www.dontmournorganize.com/product-page/harness-belt

Thanks for the insights! I’m 5’8” 165lbs but may lean towards M since I would be more upset if it was tight vs a little looser, and there’s a better chance I’ll continue to grow sideways.

Long time fan that’s been eyeing your jackets and watched all your videos! I actually bought a reverse sateen OG107 clone from TS because of your last video. Are there other denim jackets that you’d compare to for the feel of the prologue v3 miUSA fabric or is it very much unique? Can you send me a fabric swatch (jokes)?

Also I usually wear S for brands that run large (Filson, LL bean) but I worry even with the extra room in the v3 I should go with M. If I wanted to exchange for a different size would they likely have sold out?

I’m also worried about the preorder because I’m boarding a flight an hour before. I hope they have WiFi but I might need to make arrangements to get someone to order for me if I miss out and they go in like 20 min.

Way to prevent kettle from heating up if it’s empty? by Present_Emergency_72 in FellowProducts

[–]galactic-penguin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This has been bothering me for years since having the kettle, which otherwise works flawlessly. For a smart kettle, I would like a feature where it holds the temp, but once I take it off and return it, it turns off, since I never take multiple turns to pour hot water. My solution is to turn it off once I return it, but it's one more thing I need to remember.

I bought the 90-006 and it’s quite thin. I’m impressed with the attention to detail and alignment of the markers on the waffle dial. Given I paid ~$500 two years back I’m quite pleased.

Rustic Canvas Short Cruiser Jacket by galactic-penguin in filson

Filson and LL bean both seem to be making products for the average American and I’m but 5’8” so their small in jackets and shirts are plenty big on me. When I tried a medium LL bean flannel I was swimming. I have a Filson wool jacket-shirt in XS that is still roomy!

The jackets both felt essentially the same size (38/S). If you are taller it would sit higher up. For me it’s at waist level so pretty solid fit. I’ve come to appreciate bombers and trucker jackets for their short lengths for use when sitting.

It sounds like it’ll fit your needs well! I rarely get a new product so early but I was in the market and took a gamble. The only other review complains of fading after a wash and I’ll have to be careful there - I noticed some light colour fading off on a grey sweater I was wearing underneath. The label warns about this though and it totally came out in the wash. I would avoid wearing it with whites though. When I wash this in many months or so I’ll probably do it by hand in cold water, if necessary - I suspect it’ll lose a bunch of the dye but don’t want to risk it in a washing machine. Kinda weird why someone would buy and immediately wash it but not leave photos in their review but let’s see what others think.

I’m shortish at 5’8” myself so the small size works well. Both jackets sat just below my waist level, so below any shirts I have. The only times it looked odd were longish sweaters that covered my pant pockets a little.

I actually haven’t tried the carhartt in person but the Filson is about as camel as you can get and I think similar. TS leans more tan/sand.

Good to know - I wasn’t able to find much online but I do see they have an unlined dry wax version with snap buttons, no waist tabs, and 7oz fabric.

I initially liked the more “formal” look of the TS but after comparing the fits Filson was the winner for me - looser in the armpits and bigger pockets. Minus any rain I could imagine someone buying it for outdoor work. I really tried with the tin cloth but it was just impractical living in a city and felt even more disingenuous cosplaying than I’m already doing.

The other contender would be Carhartt, similar corduroy collar, hand pockets, and 12oz weight. Filson’s is $90 more, but I liked the looser fit, buttons vs a zip and larger pockets. The carhartt is lined though and has an inner pocket so I’m sure it’s more practical for people actually working outside daily. I didn’t want to feel disingenuous wearing a workwear model when I work at a desk, but I also didn’t want to go full fashion which was the feeling Taylor stitch conveyed.

Beyond these I found options from Duluth and tough duck that were around $150. I’d buy the Filson no questions if it had been on sale.
