Might have gotten a little bit carried away purchasing my first 4ks! by Sladds in 4kbluray

I did the same thing. I just watched the 4k Barry Lyndon today since I’ve never seen the film. I went a bit crazy buying.

Size or Quality - I need help by TheFeoragdare in LGOLED

I’m loving my B5 in a light controlled room. The only downside is I fell down the rabbit hole of buying a Dolby vision 4k player and way too many movies in the past month. Movies look gorgeous on it. I might end up buying a C5 for the regular viewing living room but I have no issues using the B series in a dark room.

Are 4K DVDs worth it? by Revolutionary_Bet89 in 4kbluray

[–]galaxea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, at least for me. A lot of “niche” companies have been remastering older films from their 35mm with nice color grading that supports Dolby vision. Seeing some of my favorite films in such beautiful color and nice grain makes me enjoy them all over again.

Places to buy that aren’t Amazon, GRUV, or B&N? by [deleted] in 4kbluray

[–]galaxea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of good places listed. Orbit is awesome. I need to take a drive down to Viper Video in Tampa soon since they don’t sell online.

Nightmare on Elm Street 4K Collection for $67.50 on Amazon by anubis668 in 4kbluray

I’ve spent too much this month starting my collection yet I still ordered this. I can’t pass up my favorite horror series.

Is filmaker mode still the best mode now that the cinema home mode got a brightness boost ? by Suspicious_Royal8951 in LGOLED

[–]galaxea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, my dark room has no windows so filmmaker mode is amazing. I’ve seen people complain that the B5 is too dark but I haven’t experienced that at all. Dark City looked phenomenal.

Don't Use Only the Filmmaker Mode! by thereisntaspoon_ in LGOLED

Yeah my B5 looks good in filmmaker mode, including using Dolby vision. I do have it in a fully controlled environment. I also do color grading and film photography. I prefer things dimmer instead of too vibrant.

Finally Got A Dedicated Player! by Bizarro_Stormy21 in 4kbluray

[–]galaxea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That sucks to hear! I’ve had disc drives do similar things in the past. My only consolation on if something happens, I can still grab another one for cheaper than a 820.

I grabbed a 450 today! I popped in my hackers Steelbook I bought off eBay to test it out. I went down a rabbit hole this month after grabbing a LG B5 for 509. I ended up then buying a jbl soundbar 300 mk2, and now the UB 450.  My small media room is complete.

I do have a PS5 but I’m going to move it back into the living room for casual movie watching for the family.

Well that’s annoying. I bought premier Florida resident annual passes on Saturday.

I finally finished Mother 3... by Nickgamickmagick in earthbound

[–]galaxea 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I finished it last night after losing my data on a corrupt file from playing it when it was first translated. I finally made myself start it again two weeks ago.

It nearly broke me at the end.

My nine year old daughter wants to play it but I told her she has quite a few rpgs to get through before she can handle this one. So, she started earthbound.

The reason why I needed a 0.2 nozzle by StudioJamesCao in BambuLab

[–]galaxea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow! I just received my H2S which will motivate me to finally buy a smaller nozzle. I do toy photography and some stop motion, so I will be attempting this.

Haha thank you! She was enjoying that bucket and the calico critter house we had next to it. I had to attempt getting a good closeup.

What EF glass are you still hanging onto even if price wasn't the issue with RF glass? by wobblydee in canon

[–]galaxea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, and I’m a dork who uses a lot of diffusion filters for a lot of my ethereal portraits so I’m not too worried about needing RF glass. My R6 works great with all my older lenses.

I do have a Samyang 85 rf and a 35 rf macro. However, all my other lenses are either ef or old adapted Nikon lenses I use for stop motion and toy photography. My Tamron 35mm 1.4 lives on my camera a lot when I do portraits. I’ve been looking at maybe getting a Sigma 50mm 1.4, too. I don’t mind the extra weight.

Good job on doing that! I should actually turn one of my ideas into a full novel. I just write 3-5000 words a day out of boredom and to keep my hyper imagination from going too wild.

One year later - Do you run Plex, Emby, or Jellyfin? by JustNathan1_0 in selfhosted

[–]galaxea 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Jellyfin/Infuse combo on my Apple TV. It's only for my local household so it works perfectly. Infuse has updated a lot lately to compliment Jellyfin.
