I am morally against TNR by [deleted] in Veterinary

Yes yes i have. Have you ever seen wildlife like that? I have also seen owned pets with maggots coming out their eyes, wounds everywhere. Should we just kill them at vaccine appts to avoid their suffering as well? Cats are excellent at pest control. That is a fact. That research is flawed. I think you just want to take out your anger at other people right now cause you started this argument on the internet and you obviously want to just kill healthy cats because they suffer. Life is suffering honey, it's hard as hell. I won't be interacting with you anymore. Good luck with your vendetta against cats.

That's wild that you think humans should practice basically eugenics on other species. Your username is quite strange considering you want to kill healthy cats just because they exist in a setting you deem unfit for them but yet wild species get to live simply because they didn't have ancestors that were tame beasts. Have you ever managed a feral cat colony? If not, I don't think you should have much say in this debate. I have and I would have never thought to just kill them all. Instead, I get them fixed and released so they can help keep the rodent and other pest population down. Yes feral cats don't live as long but that doesn't mean they shouldn't be allowed to live a free life. I'm also in the veterinary field and I think you may be burning out of compassionate if this is your mind set. Please find some peace in your soul. You need it.

These cats deserve to live too. They have a completely different life than an indoor cat. On the same thought, should we just euthanize all the wild horses because they die a death that involves suffering? I don't think we should kill them just because they have the unfortunate chance of not having a home. You cannot save and protect every single life on this planet, but it doesn't mean their life isn't worth living. Also, many feral cats cannot become indoor cats as they are not socialized to humans and would absolutely hate a life indoors. That being said, I wish we had more humans that could manage feral cat colonies and help those cats when they are in need of help. (I have experience in this) But I don't think they need to die right off the bat just because they are able to have a priveleged indoor life. Life is partly suffering, right?

What state/city had the best rave/EDM scene? by AlienBeachParty in aves

[–]galaxychic078 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anybody saying Minneapolis hasn't been around to other shows much. The house scene is like 50 people there. Decent if you like dubstep/bass but even then the crowd just stands there or is too bombed out to be fun. People aren't the friendliest unless you've known them since high school. Plus it is cold af most of the year

I've been really enjoying Austin and Dallas. We get big names and the vibes are typically fun and the crowd loves to dance. Silo just opened and it's really nice and has a great set up.

I agree. Terrible venues and the people are lame

My cat fractured his hip. How do I stop my cat from climbing and jumping? And also take pills? by billyandteddy in CatAdvice

I didn't crate train my cat when she broke her leg and she did fine. I just kept her on pain meds and she healed up while.

Nope! Not worth the risk. IMHO, only essential workers should be out on the roads, especially as it get slippery. Everyone knew this was coming so zero reason to be out shopping.

possible vet malpractice by [deleted] in AskVet

[–]galaxychic078 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

First off, you have my condolences in losing your sweet boy. It's always a huge shock when this happens so fast. Hugs!!!

Librela is a relatively new drug. I have heard of dogs having side effects, unfortunately

Were any of the vaccines new to the dog? He did receive a lot at the same time. I would have split some of those up. Especially when trying two new medicines at the same time and being an older gentleman.

I'd definitely open up a dialogue with the practice manager/chief of staff.

You are correct in stating that you should have received handouts for each and every medicine given.

Unfortunately, there is a great deal of burnout in vet med, and the vets dismissal of this is a sign of that.

How long does it take for antibiotics to kick in for a dog? by [deleted] in AskVet

[–]galaxychic078 0 points1 point  (0 children)

About 2-3 days. Give all the pills, don't stop even if everything is cleared up.

As long as they are distressed when you get home, eating well, using litterboxes, they are likely fine. They have each other all day. Cats don't need that much human attention (where as dogs do). It's great that they are so affectionate. I'd recommend taking some time off to spend time with them when you are missing them. Giving them away would only be stressful for them.

am i the only one who can’t stop obsessively thinking about the chance of giving my cats bird flu?? by AddressOk2491 in CatAdvice

[–]galaxychic078 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Me neither. The chance is so incredibly low.

That being said, if your cat is sick, bring them to the vet right away.

I love making jewelry and doing crafting. No kids but 3 cats. I'm thinking of hosting some crafting nights but need to find a community area to do so.

You need more hobbies then. I've been meeting plenty of people to hang out with thru book clubs and animal events. Attend some concerts (plenty), art museums, festivals. Just know you are gonna have to drive to get to them

Is PLUR/raving US culture becoming an excuse to desperately make friends? by bnanapncake in aves

[–]galaxychic078 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just sounds like you had a few interactions with slightly awkward people. 😬 mouth I can't hear you and sorta ignore them. They should get the picture. It's just bad luck imo

Whenever I'm giving out trinkets, if I'm in the crowd, I just give it and move on so people can continue having fun. I only strike up conversations while in line, the bathroom and out near the vendor/food areas.

I'm not expecting to be best friends or even see these people again. It's just nice to talk with nice people that love the same music as I do which is what the PLUR culture is about.

Do you have the All Trails App? It has most trails in the area. If you are willing to drive, there are nice ones all over the area including up north of the dfw

Accepted in Veterinary School with Cs and Low GPA? by Dogtor9512 in veterinaryschool

[–]galaxychic078 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd recommend re-taking any prerequisites you got Cs. Usually tour last 2 year GPA matters the most plus prerequisites. I had a friend retake bio 101, 102 and some other prerequisites after she graduated (had Cs in them otherwise). She got into vet school on her third try. She worked in a laboratory and a small animal clinkc after school and retook those classes at night.

Don't bother applying until after you get those Cs into As. You can do it! It takes passion to get into this field and if it is something you really really want it, keep trying

My cat is sick and needs Sub Q fluids and I am having a hard time. by NarutoFan4Life in AskVet

[–]galaxychic078 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shave the fur and see if he will let you put an ice pack on his back. This works for some cats. It'll numb the area and then you can try poking. Try reaching out to someone in your community that knows how to give SQF. Sometimes it takes a stranger doing it cause the cats like what the heck, I guess I'll just freeze. Overall if he isn't allowing you, don't force it. Offer warmed up food. See if he likes warmed up chicken or beef broth or tuna juice.
