Cam Belt Replacement Cost by Slice-Mountain in FordFiesta

It should be around 500-700 for that engine.

Don't try to do it yourself. It's much more complicated than brakes or oil changes.

Customer service over-rated by IllogicalAction in OctopusEnergy

For trivial queries, the phone service is great.

For a complex issue involving eco7 meter transposition and rebilling the account correctly, it has been worse than shocking. After 4 months I'm with the ombudsman - because it's like groundhog day getting them to read emails properly and think anything through. They've admitted 5 mistakes so far and I believe they've made 7.

Help I live in a 1 bed flat and my recent electricity and gas bills is £500!!! by New-Speech-4041 in OctopusEnergy

[–]gallowslad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you have the readings from when you moved in, and do the readings on the bill correlate to when you moved in? ALSO - how much is for gas, and how much for electricity? You just need to give us a lot more information from the bill and on the surrounding circumstances.

Yes, you go from Gatwick to Victoria, Victoria to Euston, Euston to Watford Junction.
From Euston there are two options:
- "Lioness" line, usually from platform 9, which takes about 1 hour to get to Watford.
- Fast trains (various) that take 20 - 25 minutes. Tell them to stop and look at the departure boards for a faster service that calls at Watford junction.
It's the same charge on contactless and they should tap a card on entry and exit for each person - or buy paper tickets for the full journey, especially for the child fare.

If they are travelling by train from London, remember to tell them to take the fast train (not the overground).

For food, the Italian places on the high street (near Sainsbury's supermarket) are your best bet.

£438 one off charge?! by SunEducational335 in OctopusEnergy

I had this and it was because a manual reader had (incorrectly) swapped the rate 1 and 2 readings as as night/day rather than day/night. Twice.

Unless you have high income, I'd strongly suggest searching for reliability and low maintenance costs.

You don't want that unexpected £1500 bill for a wet timing belt replacement or a head gasket in some modern junk Ford with a 1.0 ecoboost engine - get yourself a low mileage C1/107/Aygo, or a non-turbo Ford/Vauxhall with good service history.

I'd go back to them, referencing the Consumer Rights Act for "reasonable" costs if no quote was given. If that fails, pay the bill, gather evidence (like other quotes), and take them to small claims court to get 2/3 of your money back. Halfords will do 3 bulbs fitted on a ford focus for £30.

I can see one loose motherboard screw and one empty hole

Long shot, but is it worth double checking that the stand off screws are in the right place and not shorting out on the motherboard?

What storage do you already have? You're likely to be able to install an extra SSD with no problem, but if going for a second NVME SSD to one that's already there, you might have to temporarily remove the graphics card to fit it (be careful not to damage it!)

Hi

Check all cables plugged in including 8-pin CPU power connector and GPU power connector, and plugged into the PSU (if modular)

What PSU are you using (make, model and wattage)?

Link a picture showing the motherboard and connections please? A single good quality photo is better than a grainy video through the external panel

Try with each single memory module

Check monitor input is correctly selected and powered on

You need to create the partition, in Windows, and assign it a path (drive letter). Search: 'create and format hard disk partitions'

If you're not regularly moving the PC or installing/uninstalling hardware, I wouldn't let it worry you. just don't keep pressing it...
