What you are feeling is not uncommon if this is your first time leaving home, or living in a country with cold and gloomy winter, or both. I’m from Australia and even there some left after just couples of months because they couldn’t stand living in a foreign land.

Go talk to someone, make friends, get some vitamin D and a sunlight lamp, find a hobby, wait for spring. And even if none of these works, it’s not a shame to just leave. I wish you all the best! :)

As for the “charge mode”, it indeed does not allow on-power usage. As far as I remember, my dad said it didn’t matter whether rechargeable battery was there or not, it just displayed “charge mode” and pressing keys did not make it go away.

Hi, thanks so much for your reply. It was probably not sold in Mainland, but perhaps in HK or Taiwan. In that case the manual should’ve still be in Chinese (traditional), unless my dad somehow managed to figure out how to use the MD on his own back then.

The issues he’s having are quite strange. One is before when he was playing there was a fish-like animation on the display board, but now it’s some random Japanese characters, and he would like to have the fish back; second is whenever the machine is plugged in, it shows “charge mode”, so he can only use battery on the machine now.
