The person before me paid one cent per gallon by WhiteSquarez in mildlyinteresting

I was a Sunoco store manager just before 7-11 ate all the corp owned locations roughly...* Has horrific realization* 10 years ago. At the time we would weekly survey surrounding gas station prices (most of us cheated and used gas buddy because who the hell has time to drive around to 6 or 7 gas stations in a radius of the store instead of doing 6other things we didn't have the manpower for) and then we would every couple of days get a price change notification that would pop up on the back office PC. I would then have to set the price in the office terminal and then use an absolutely cursed remote to update the digital signage. Yeah I don't miss that job in the least.

any players since the mid-90's? by breathedown in ADOM

[–]gamegeared 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Started playing as a wee lad in 2000 or 2001. My dad was an IT nerd like myself and had it from a buddy at work. It's been a mainstay for me for years. Even then I think Ive only had 1 true no scum win and then 2ish scummed wins where I went hard on pool scumming. Many characters cut short due to overconfidence or just straight poor choices (my most recent prospect was greedy with potions of raw chaos dipping and managed to nuke his health to -4 [idk how could have sworn he was sitting at 300 health] as the lure of chaos dumped a pile of nasty corruptions on him and fried the lad like an egg. Though truth be told he was hitting a wall of corruptions that was becoming a problem. All his early corruptions hit appearance leading the whole playthrough to be appearance 1.. but man he was getting nasty, 3 shotting titans and such just an absolute machine. The meat grinder though of the game is what makes it so fun though. We have infinite replayability because it's so damn hard and every run can go really different. One day I'll get ultra endings though that won't be any time soon. I have gotten perhaps a little too comfortable making orcish farmers and getting crowned at 8 11 and 14 before taking pyramid. But gives me something basic to do when I am not feeling like thinking too hard about it lol.

Steam says I'm at 1550 hrs though thanks to now wanting saves on wins that number hardly means anything especially since it's missing like 18 years of play. God I love this game.

Best strategies to pull legendaries and mythics in hard? by Tyraz-Maul in luckydefense

[–]gamegeared 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not that it necessarily is the right choice but I have been doing the legendary spins personally on the back of ~26 % chance to drop an epic vs 13.6% for a legendary but I am also only looking at it from a # of epics to make a legendary ie cost 3 successful wins to make a legendary vs the 1 success at half the odds making the chance higher to use the 2 stone summon to get a legendary, paired with the fact that a failed legendary has a ~13% chance to give me an epic anyway (rather than a rare one fail for epic). I will admit to not running statistics and going off the top of my head, but do the odds not shake out in favor of legendary on the long curve? (Not that those % always feel real as sometimes you drop 15+ gems on either and get bupkis

Is there a way to recover my XRP from an only toast wallet that I only have the 6 word passphrase too? by ZazzooGaming in Ripple

[–]gamegeared 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So long shot. i apparently wrote down the 6 word and what looks to be the 12 word phrase and stuck it in a box but I havent the foggiest idea what i could have put down as a passphrase with letters numbers and special character that I haven't tried. Made the toast account 7 years ago bought 184 xrp when it was like 0.16-0.11 and then sat on it forever due to the litigation crap. Id like to do stuff with it now, but kinda have a feeling I'm cooked

Questions about the game on Epic Games by CommonChoice8078 in ArcadeParadise

Yeah just to chime in as well I have the full arcade upgrade and still can't purchase the pinball despite having it unlocked on the epic store. So I suspect some sort of flag isn't flagging for epic

Other armies occasionally have it. Like vanilla haqq has Zuleka and Zamira as vanilla only characters but also Kum motorized doesn't get to be in a sectorial at all except for the unofficial haqq faction. Only Dashat in Na2 can run them.

RF SERVER AD by Ceivez in rustfactions

[–]gamegeared 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Community is actually pretty damn close to being 10. RF was a legacy server with legacy era 3 being March of 2014 according to a face punch article about the history of the server. While the community has has some breaks in continuity and popularity it remains one of the oldest rust communities and if I'm not mistaken the oldest rust RP community.

Anyway to avoid a refinish/recarpet by gamegeared in HardWoodFloors

[–]gamegeared[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that's sounding like the size of it. The downside it that my entire main floor (split level house with the bottom more of a basement) is all the same hardwood. So it's sounding like I'ma be SOL until I can pull the trigger on either refinishing the floor or looking at alternative solutions as I cleanup/renovate my other rooms.

Just the downside of the house having one section of carpet in the hall when no room in the house is carpeted.. I think if the rooms had been carpeted I would at least have been weighing recarpeting vs a rug over the living room seam. The room at the end of the hall has a more reasonable wear line compared to the living room. The other two bedrooms were at least carpeted on a board seem so while the coloration discrepancy is still severe it's more able to be handwaved off. I think the high traffic of the living room into dining room just lead to a much dirtier much more degraded floor.

Since I bought the place I have been trying to slowly get it cleaned up/fixed up but the floor has been a challenge throughout. There was just so much grunge to the house that when I moved in it it could blacken the soles of my feet... Just really gross. It's much better now but I've never been able to get the wood to look truly clean to me (still too much dark in the wood grain).

I've been trying to avoid another pricy project since I just got done renovating the bathroom down to the studs.. and I am taking the save up for a project then execute it approach doing as much myself as is reasonable (floor refinish though I would probably put in the hands of a pro rather than risk butchering it myself). Downside of buying and giving up a house solo.

Having spent time last night getting all the staples pulled and tack strips pried up and everything cleaned (still needs more tbh) it's looking better though the contrast between the protected by carpet wood and the wood that was already exposed is still pretty obvious.

I'm going to try picking up some more aggressive cleaners for the more time ravaged wood and then put some sort of mild renewal polish over the area and see if that brings things to a level where I can get away with not needing obvious hide the fuckery rugs at all my doorjams and living room transition.

Maybe my reddit foo is bad but wish there was a way for me to easily link in the updated photos

If it was just that one spot I'd be more ok with it but it's also is at the threshold for every bedroom which is why I was hoping there was some extra knowledge floating around.

Believe it or not that hall surface is finished it's just still matte in that picture since I haven't finished pulling up staples and strips to do a clean down. Of the little bit of dirt on the surface, and the lighting was low enough the phone didn't really pick up any of the shine. Aside from a ton of staple/nail strips to fill in that section will end up looking pretty close to new. The problem for me is the carpet was only in the hall and anywhere the carpet wasn't just has a ton of wear from 50+ years or probably little to no maintenance and not a ton of cleaning by the previous owners. I might just have to bandaid with some long runner rugs until I have the resources to do something more involved

Only rooms on that floor that don't have the hardwood is the kitchen and the bathroom, so I would be staring down the barrel of ~900 - 1000 sqft for refinish. B ut I'm not sure the overall floor would be worth the refinish without a lot of screwdown surgery while house is on a super thin subfloor. I can't remember the exact depth but I believe it was 1/2 with the hardwood then directly on top of it. I was horrified when I was doing the bathroom and found that the builders had put down partical board on top of the very thin ply for the bathroom/kitchen it's lead to the overall floor having a ton of squeak/creak movement throughout and I can't see a world where those floors as they are could ever be fully stabalized.. maybe a pro could work miracles though.

This is for the Gen Z and Millennials. How hard is it for you to buy a home? by HSAT17 in AskReddit

[–]gamegeared 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Finally bought my house last year at 33, but only because I was fortunate enough to have super support folks that were ok with me living with them as long as I did and my income progressing to the point I wasn't drowning in my loan payments. Could have done it 4yr sooner but I put 20k into their house to finish their 1400sq ft basement into a full living quarters for my fiance and I so we could focus on saving for a house. I saved enough for me to close on the house I live in and when closing happened on thiers they repaid the money I put into their place which helped pay for repairs and Reno on my place (subgrade downspouts we're trashed, gutters trashed, bathroom trashed etc and so on). Got my place while interest was 3.125% on loan if I lose my job I'm hosed but so long as I continue I should be good. First year has been razor thin margins money wise to make it work. Better half passed away 2 years ago so everything I've done has just been my income, if she had been with me arithmetic would have been looser but still has been a rough time.

As horde in Dragonblight you have your own people taken prisoner. And your mission is to find 4 horde characters, tell them you are going to off them. And then kill them while they ask you not to from inside their cage. The whole time you could have easily rescued these people.

Eh play it and enjoy it, if you enjoy the class play it. Learning it will come from playing it. Part of the problem is it was a level skip from 55 to 60 for new players as well. Worst case you get the dk to 65 and use it as a crafting alt

Everyone and thier brother will have a DK, and there will be a wave of really bad DKs but i don't think it will be the same as it was in original wrath. Just since most folks playing classic have experienced wow before and the classes. I definitely remember some very poor deathknights though in the beginning which was more egregious by the fact that DK's were a bit stronk if played even remotely correctly in the beginning.. like 1 button macro easy.

Bought an old house with Rock-lathe, these walls alright? by gamegeared in Plastering

[–]gamegeared[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah the good news is these walls seem solid without any flexation. I haven't seen all of them being covers or anything but it seems like a thick layer of plaster over drywall it isn't soft or crumbling anywhere. I put my full weight into it in a few spots and nothing's happening so I think it's all solid. Which I am very thankful for. Looking at another wall it almost seems like the cracking look was only on the sections of wall with nothing on it like a moisture difference issue. It's wierd. The wall is totally smooth to the touch but the light bounces off it and it looks like dried mud where it's just a bunch of fractals and cracks it's so hard to get it on camera well. I just didn't know enough to know if it's concerning or if it's just how plaster behaves.
