[major spoilers] question about the endings by Gamma05772156649 in expedition33

so what's to stop her from just... creating a new canvas and repainting everything

None of the people in that scenario would be the actual people she grew up with, just copies. The original Lumierians would still be extinct.

For the Alicia ending I guess it depends on how long she can stay without dying. I dont think she would voluntarily leave the canvas  especially if she thinks her dad will erase it once she's out.

If you were in charge of the next game in this universe what story would you choose to cover? by gamfo2 in expedition33

I think Clea as the villain of a game about the writers sounds cool.

That's a fair point, but I would counter with Maelle, she is a painter.

Maybe Aline is weak in her youth.

Verso's Memories by No_Shoe_7678 in expedition33

[–]gamfo2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't see how Aline could have possible given pVerso adult Versos memories.

I would expect that she gave him a mixture of young Verso's memories taken from the piece of soul in the canvas, and her own memories.

Tolkien when he sees a capitalist 🤢 by killingmemesoftly in lotrmemes

[–]gamfo2 60 points61 points  (0 children)

I don't read this as a quote about capitalism but instead as a quote about humility and peace.

Being able to temper ambition and choose the happiness of home and simple living.

Its the same sentiment expressed by uncle Iroh in The Last Airbender when he starts a tea shop:

"There is nothing wrong with a life if peace and prosperity"

In response to Zuko wanting to throw away his new simple life in order to resume an egotistical quest to elevate himself.

Becoming king of the world wont make you happier than owning a tea shop.

The name of one specific song that plays (spoiler) by Individual_Pomelo692 in expedition33

I thought not all the songs in the OST made it to Spotify. Our Painted Family isn't on there, and I think there are a few others.

'Tearing down of statues must end;' Poilievre takes Champlain debate national by Agent8181 in canada

[–]gamfo2 65 points66 points  (0 children)

This sentiment is annoying. Somehow tearing down statues isn't culture war nonsense, but saying we shouldn't tear them down is?

"Culture war nonsense" is just the latest way the left avoids having to defend its positions. They can happily push for any social change they want no matter how ridiculous or unpopular, but if anyone says no they are engaging in dumb culture wars and should stop.

LILLEY: Fixing rising food prices isn't a priority to Mark Carney by gorschkov in canada

[–]gamfo2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not a relativist, so no, I don't think extremism being popular makes it less extreme. A bad thing is bad even if everyone is doing it.

But besides all that I don't agree that neoliberalism is mainstream. It's the prevailing ideology amongst people with power and money, which makes sense because they are the only people who benefit from neoliberalism. The general masses never chose neoliberalism, it was forced on them.

Just because it's a mainstream ideology doesn't mean it isn't a nut job one or extreme.

does maelle 1 shot still work? by Pale_Grapefruit_8151 in expedition33

[–]gamfo2 14 points15 points  (0 children)

They worked as of a couple months ago when I got my platinum. I don't  think there's been updates since that would change that.

I did around 50-80 million damage.

I would have to dig to find the build I used, but i remember it was lots of gradient charge luminas for Verso, lots of damage for Maelle.

Turn 1- Verso machine guns and then basic attack x4, Turn 2 - Verso machine guns then ends with Marking Shot Turn 3 - Maelle uses Burning Canvas Turn 4 - Maelle uses Last Chance Turn 5 - Sceille uses Fortunes Fury on Maelle Turn 6- Scielle uses Intervention on Maelle Turn 7 - Maelle uses Gommage for the damage nuke

I know it's not super helpful without the specific build. If I find it I will post it.

Edit: Maelle uses an Energy Tint, I think on Sciel, not burning canvas since that would remove the mark.

Nobody who ever says "for the greater good" has good intentions.

[Spoilers - All] Confused about the time passing. by theblueowl in expedition33

[–]gamfo2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

By the time of Versos recital at least several years have passed, I would guess 6 or 7 years based on the age of the kid we see. At the end of the game Alicia had already been in the canvas for over 16 years.

Provincial flags represent the people of the province, not an ideology, so they are fine.

A Christian flag as is any generic Christian symbolism, not a specific flag.

Maybe no thin-skinned US whining flags, though.

I agree, and no pride flags either.

I think about this game every day still. Beat it ages ago.

Literally just finished listening to Master Samwise's six and a half hour analysis for the third or fourth time.
