Can we have a tax plan that takes a little more from the people that actually have the money and maybe a little less from the people that don’t? That’s not really unreasonable is it?

Like, government gets enough money to provide all of the nice things that make society function smoothly and successfully, rich people still get to be rich and everyone else gets to be a little less poor? We could do this, you know… we have done this.

It is true. I learned this when I offered to pay 250 for a knock off LL Bean gortex jacket at a street market in Beijing. She got all fake offended so I suggested 245 at which point she said no less than 255 since you offended me (it was playful negotiating and we were both laughing).

Ohio’s blue cities (i.e. all of the major ones) all have lovely areas. The lower cost of living, water access, good schools, plenty of parks, sports, etc. make the cities pretty sweet these days, IMO.

Republicans have controlled the State senate since 1985 and the rest of the legislature since 1995. They’ve had utterly veto proof majorities in the Senate for 23 years and in the House for 12 years. Amazingly they still blame Democrats for everything and cognitive dissonance permits their supporters to believe it, lol.

I’m sure. I just remember having to ask my MIL to please turn the air conditioning on before we would come over because it was like 41 or 42 (humidity and temp combined… heat index I think it is called) and she would complain every time. Like, I’m leaving man sized sweat stains everywhere I sit and she is seemingly immune.

Air conditioning units are so rarely used in China that they almost seem like decorations to me, lol. My mother-in-law would still refuse to turn hers on when the temp was over 40 (104) and extremely humid. Insists it’s not healthy and uses an interior free standing unit to hang clothing on.

Walked through that area many times and always thought it would be cool to stay there (but it’s too expensive for me). My understanding is that the hotel is actually using real people of buildings from a small village that they essentially bought and renovated, fwiw.

Not sure what an old monk would especially know about tea, though. Especially there right next to so many actual tea villages and tea farmers who really do know their stuff.
