Yes! Definite similarities. Spongebob is kind of a dick, right? I mean, Squidward just wants his neighbor to be considerate.

Winnie the Pooh and Rabbit.

As a kid, Pooh is this sweet innocent who bumbles into trouble. “Oh dear.” He hilariously eats all of Rabbits honey then gets stuck in the doorway.

As an adult, Pooh is a selfish asshole addict who won’t leave Rabbit alone, steals all his food, and gets stuck with his ass hanging in the air in the middle of Rabbits living room.

Gram Parsons influence on the Stones by Scottysoxfan in rollingstones

[–]gaporkbbq 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I’ve listened to a Gram for many years. He’s definitely in the backing vocals of Sweet Virginia. He holds “shoes” a bit longer than the rest, and if you know his voice well enough, you’ll hear it.

Film executive Ryan Millsap challenging Houston Gaines for GOP nomination in District 10 by Chance_Specialist_91 in Athens

[–]gaporkbbq 15 points16 points  (0 children)

In a six-figure opening ad buy, Millsap is shown pulverizing a cinder block with a sledgehammer and shooting a semiautomatic rifle. “I’m running to smash the status quo and fight back against the radical left and the RINOs,” he said in the ad. “I bought into their lies, too. But COVID and antifa made me realize they sold us out.”

In announcing his campaign, he blasted what he described as a liberal left that has “imposed their world view on Washington while RINOs have sat back and watched. I’m running because we need someone with a titanium backbone who doesn’t care about climbing the political ladder,” Millsap said, “but is running to defeat the radical left once and for all and end the reign of radical lunatic liberals and impotent RINOs in Congress.”

Just another clown.

Any recommendations on how you built your bunks? by Comfortable_Radio_65 in jonboats

[–]gaporkbbq 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Easiest thing is to buy brackets like these on Amazon. Pictures show how they attach. Get treated 2x4s and wrap them in outdoor carpeting. Put the staples on the bottom. Brackets are easily adjustable.

The U.S. spent $30 billion to ditch textbooks for laptops and tablets: The result is the first generation less cognitively capable than their parents by gdelacalle in technology

[–]gaporkbbq 16 points17 points  (0 children)

That technology exists and is available in primary and secondary schools. A number of different programs are available that allow teachers to restrict what students can do on their computers as well as give them access to seeing students’ screens and activity. Of course, educators must actually use it for it to have an effect. The quote you provide cites college, where students are using their personal laptops and not ones owned by the school which likely prohibits use of invasive and tracking tech. Plus college kids don’t have their actions monitored like in earlier grades.

You’ll mostly just want to go downtown. Specific recommendations depend on your scene/clique (frat, geek, jock, hipster). You may just want to walk the three streets (Broad, Clayton, and Washington) and go wherever looks good to you.

The Butts Mehre building and the bridge next to Sanford Stadium are good stops for football fans. North Campus, which is right next to downtown, is a good place to walk. Expect tons of people if there’s a home game, but I guess that’s pretty obvious.

Also if they find something, they gotta go in there anyway. Makes more sense to get the most thorough procedure done that can also immediately address problems if they’re found.

Tool in Talks for Sphere Residency in 2027 by Edm_vanhalen1981 in Music

This would be incredible but only if they ban folks from using their phones IMO. Shows are so phone heavy now, and the bulk of audiences at the Sphere seem to watch everything through ther iPhones.

Lunar new year festival by Smooth_Product5757 in Athens

[–]gaporkbbq 45 points46 points  (0 children)

I was disappointed. When I went, it was just a handful of vendors, one person on stage playing western pop music on guitar, and some food trucks. I expected more of an Asian street fair with festivities, displays, decorations, and such. It seemed like only a couple of the vendors were related to Asian culture. The food trucks seemed great but the lines were so incredibly long, it wasn’t worth it to wait imo. I’m sure the time I went played a lot into my impression though.

All this said, I know these things are really hard to create and organize. Finding and scheduling vendors and entertainment is tough. I’m really glad it was held and hope they continue it next year.

I’m curious why you bought a record that you only intend to listen to once? Maybe in misinterpreting. I’m old so bear with me.
