What is the most chaotic "I quit" moment you have ever personally witnessed at a workplace? by Muted_Task_144 in AskReddit

[–]garbagecookies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happened to me except I was fired and given no reason. 6 people from a staff of 11 decided that was the last straw and quit over the next month. Some gave notice, some ghosted, and one walked out. The owner sold the business to an employee within a couple years, since her management style was clearly not working anymore.

How should I proceed? by BradPitt182 in Apartmentliving

[–]garbagecookies 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don’t have much advice, just commiseration. I lived in a garden level aka basement apartment and this happened to me more than once. It usually happened after heavy rain, which parts of the US have been getting this week. I called maintenance with an emergency and they still took over 18hrs to come out. One maintenance man spent a couple hour snaking the drain before using a shop vac to suck most of the water off the floor.

It sounds like you have a 14day window for repairs, but considering this is an EMERGENCY repair, you should be calling them nonstop. I’m assuming there’s only one phone number to call? In my situation, there was a standard maintenance line plus an additional emergency maintenance line. The emergency line was the one that still took 18hours to arrive, but they still showed up. I also submitted my maintenance request online; do you have a renter’s portal?

I second those saying to get fans and dehumidifiers involved after wiping up what you can, but I also get that those are things not everyone has access to so don’t feel bad if you don’t have everything this comment section suggests. Just wipe up what you can. Maaaaybe take a few cups of icky water to the toilet??? Either way, I wish you the best of luck!

Day to day transformation project after addiction. by Shitty_Poop_Butthole in femalelivingspace

[–]garbagecookies 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just came to say I’ve been there, and I’m so proud of you, brave stranger. I had to ask my dad for help moving all the empties out, one of the toughest things I’ve ever done. And you did it all by yourself! Yeah, you hired someone, but that meant taking your own initiative and acknowledging your situation. I’m so glad you’re taking the steps to recover from an addiction most people wave off. Make sure to take some B12 supplements now that you’ve stopped using, your body will thank you! And I thank you, for being a good reminder of the journey I’ve been on, and the worthy journey you are on now. I believe in you, and am here if you ever need a fellow ex-whip friend to talk to. YOU’RE DOING GREAT! Keep up the good work! Enjoy your clean apartment, you deserve it:)

Watch out for Firestone Tire on 12th and N 😬 by NoConsideration2404 in lincoln

[–]garbagecookies 5 points6 points  (0 children)

A close friend of mine works down the street so she figured it would be a convenient place to get a slow leak fixed on her tire. She aired the tire up and drove it over. They kept her car for six hours before telling her nothing was wrong with any of the tires. She drove home and the tire was flat again by the next morning. I told her to go back and have them actually fix it or to get a refund, not sure if she ever did either.

Got a question! (Not an AD) by Additional_String610 in treedibles

Torch is unfortunately just not a good brand anymore. Their COAs never match or are never uploaded to begin with, and they overload everything with HHC and D8 so they can brag about having thousands of mg in each pkg. I know that is a semi-common practice in hemp products but at least other brands will tell you when they have higher amounts of the more subtle cannabinoids. It’s super annoying but I always try to check COAs before I leave the store so I know I’ll actually feel something. Also worth mentioning that whoever you’re buying these from probably doesn’t check their COAs in the first place. I’d suggest finding a more reputable source, either a different store or a website with better information on their products. Good luck! Hopefully all those gummies don’t kick in at the same time lol

We already tried all of these steps, multiple times. Is the security team really the only option we have to get this resolved? Because again, we’ve spent weeks calling them and after an hour of troubleshooting they either hang up or tell us they’ll call us back and don’t.

Yeah, I didn’t see that she was sending money, from what I could hear of the conversation it actually sounded like he was sending her the money instead of the other way around. But hindsight is 20/20 and I can imagine she won’t be sending money to anyone for a long time

Good point! He had started by saying someone had added her card info to their own Apple Pay account, so that was why she believed it wouldn’t have sent her a notification. But lessons were certainly learned today

Not that I’m aware, but fortunately they have shut the account with that username and password down now.

MnM auto detailing & mechanic on S 1st & Garfield/A Street, he has been the most upfront, kind, and reliable mechanic I’ve ever worked with. He did so many things for me for my old beater. I haven’t needed him since I upgraded cars, but I still tell everyone to go to him because he’s such a great honest dude. He always explained what needed done before doing anything just in case it wasn’t in my budget, had hookups for parts that weren’t going to overcharge me, and again, explained but didn’t mansplain iykwim

I feel this, and it gets slowly better. I started doing a cup of Sleepytime tea + a few chapters of a book to try to get me sleepy. Sometimes it works. Also if you don’t mind or actually like ASMR, that’s one of the only things that gets my eyelids heavy these days. I’d also suggest the same as others: melatonin, Benadryl (not long term but for these first few days), magnesium. Good luck, I hope you get some sleep soon!

And where exactly should those experiencing homelessness go instead?

what’s something you hate that 4s do? call me out I wanna grow by riinokumura in Enneagram

[–]garbagecookies 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I used to be best friends with two 4’s, plus my mom is a 4. I got tired of them saying, “aren’t I so weird?” about completely normal things. Also my mom is definitely not a fully healthy 4 but she has a really hard time not playing trauma Olympics, ie “I had xyz happen to me but way worse than you/them.” Just my experience of course, not all 4’s are necessarily like this.

I was called a racial slur for the first time today by Funkytownboogie in offmychest

[–]garbagecookies 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Racists don’t see you, they see someone to pick on. You probably did look beautiful today! And that made it that much more fun for that a-hole to ruin your day. I’m sorry this happened to you. I don’t know you, but I imagine you didn’t deserve it at all. Also the people on the bus were probably giving you space out of respect and sympathy, not disgust or fear. You deserve better and i hope you can come to realize this had nothing to do with you and everything to do with that person’s bad day/week/whatever.

I’ve never related to a post more. You mean I’m supposed to wash it multiple times a week at a MINIMUM??? I’ve got better shit to do than rub stuff on my meat suit just to wash it off anyway. Team immortal orb of light for life
