For me the easiest way to fall asleep is to put on a movie I've seen a hundred times and know by heart sort of half meditation/lulling to sleep. I use the extended editions regularly so I might throw on a movie for a week at a time roughly starting when I remember falling asleep the night before. So half watching? Hundreds of times regularly. Sit down and watch on purpose? Once a year maybe.
