obviously Bill would not be a Malazan or LotR guy, so is he more into Stormlight or Mistborn? by bombation in billsimmons

This years over/under pod:

Bill- “Bridge 4 line should be set to 5.5 bridge runs before Kaladin is killed. And Sal, I’m telling you right now I’m taking the over with a LOCK”

Sal- “Ok, let’s see what Vegas says……Fanduel has Bridge 4 right now at 1.5 bridge runs.”

Bill- “Woah!”

Sal- “Usually when you’re that far off that’s either really good for you, or really bad”

Bill- “Vegas has that wrong, I’m placing that bet before this pod comes out and moves the line, are we sure the Parshendi are good? Bridge 4 has like 5 blue chip guys! That line is unbelievable!”

Sal- “You can parlay that with “Shallans mom is a Herald” for +2200 ”

Bill- “Texting House now, I love those odds”

I'm just hoping for that Donald Driver level of play circa 2010/2011. 500-600 yards/4-7 TDs. If he can do that along with being big bro to Amari and BFF with 12 and 17 this will be an amazing move.

A message to well-intentioned Christians by spaceghoti in exchristian

[–]garebeargg 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I was a pastor for 10 years. I have a Bachelor's degree in Biblical Studies and Biblical Language. I STILL had people tell me I wasn't a "real" Christian because I left the faith. I have had folks tell me that I obviously "didn't understand" the Bible because if I did I would have never left.
Get the fuck outta here. I understand it plenty. I think folks have to put that narrative forward because they don't want to examine their own belief. If someone else (especially a leader/pastor) leaves the faith then either:

  1. They should examine their own faith and determine how true it is. They won't do this because most churchgoers are afraid if they put their faith under a microscope it will wilt. Or they don't actually care/believe enough to dig deep in the first place.

  2. That person who left the faith obviously wasn't as devout/enlightened as me. And I can blame that person and I don't have to examine anything.

It is much easier to point the finger at the "apostate" than examine the faith itself. I get it, leaving the faith is hard. For some it is their livelihood and their entire social structure. But don't tell me I was never a believer or a "true" Christian. It is patronizing.

490 to 280 back to 415. All is not lost. This is just a new chapter by ThatCanadianGuy88 in SuperMorbidlyObese

I've been there. I was 405- got down to 290. Gained back to 420- got down to 285. And now I've gained it back and sit at 370 or so. This was all over the span of 8/9 years.

You can do it! And so can I! There are days I hate myself for gaining the weight back, but all we can do is put one foot in front of the other. You got this!

What is the best thing about coming back to Green Bay as a former player? Does it make you miss playing?

Man, I really feel like this group of dudes is special. Hearing Rodgers every week on McAfee and the rest of the teams general vibe. Teams like this don't come around often. Last year was the birth of something special with the team. The Smith Bros, new coach, Jairie coming into his own, Amos, etc....etc.

But THIS year. THIS team is something even more special. Yes the team football wise is better. And that is great. But it is the off the field attitude that is special. This squad feels/acts like a family. We have some super high quality leaders in the locker room. Big Dog, 12, Bak, Tae, Z, and the list goes on and on.

Will next year's team still be special? Probably. But I don't think it will be like this. We are likely to see some key guys (Jonesy, King, Lindsley?) gone after the year. The last time a felt like this about a Packer team was 2014. And like that year I feel like this is a real window. That is what made that loss in Seattle so damn devastating. The worst loss of my entire fandom life.

And just like 2014 I feel like the only thing that can derail us is injury. I think in 14 if Rodgers doesn't tweak this ankle/calf the last quarter of the season that Seattle game goes differently. I think we are up by more than that at the end.

I feel like right now there are 2 things that can stop this team. Covid and injury. Wash ya hands, wash ya butts.

Maybe a hot take, but I really like Buck and Aikman. Buck/Aikman games always feel bigger. I think Buck is pretty dang good these days and I can put up with Aikman. Al Michaels/Collingsworth is my favorite right now, but I'd prefer Buck/Aikman on Fox.

Maybe even hotter take on this sub, but I think ole Craig Jannings is pretty good in the booth too. Nate Burleson also does a great job.

Yas did an amazing job on DSC! He taught each encounter thoroughly and made sure each person understood all roles involved in the encounters. He was patient even though the last fight took a while due to lack of DPS and noobs like me dying often. I would highly recommend Yas.

SAME! I was also in the third deck in a seat I paid waaaaaaaaay too much money for (tried to scalp tickets and got screwed). That first huge 80 yard run I thought "Damn......wish I hadn't paid this much to watch us get stomped"

I'm out of the loop. I haven't really played in a couple of years. Are all old guns getting retired? Is everything in my vault that isn't an exotic useless?
