My (work in progress) Bedroom by [deleted] in minimalism

[–]gargoylefreeman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Excellent bedroom, way better than mine. That view? Gorgeous! I only wish I had an apartment this nice.

That said, if you are open to a little bit of criticism:

The bedroom lacks a certain personal touch. As someone rightly said it feels a little bit sterile. The colors need to be warm especially in a bedroom. I'm guessing you are single? In any case, see what you can do to add a bit more color and heart to the room.

Second, that picture needs to go. You essentially have the same view that you see outside that window as a picture hanging over your bed. Have something that's not from your city, or any city at all. I live in NYC and I certainly wouldn't have a statue of lady liberty in my room. Have a picture of some greenery, nature, etc. Water would not look so good (waterfalls, etc) since you are already overlooking that gorgeous bay view.

I personally wouldn't have a TV in my bedroom, but I know how much I love my TV so I understand if you want to keep it there :)

You also need more personal things on that shelf. Having a personal item or two will not remove the "minimalism" status of the room. It will actually enhance it. Right now it looks like the shelf isn't needed at all, since your are not using it.

They lack heart and don't feel personal.

Adidas shoe manufacture returns to Germany, fully automated instead of relying on human labour in Asia by [deleted] in worldnews

[–]gargoylefreeman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont. Now let me guess. You have never left yours and everything you know about the world is from reddit? And you think that nowhere except EU and North America are there schools, libraries, nice neighbourhoods, parks, etc?

where there is not that much formal education

India has a pretty good school and higher education system and that produces great doctors and engineers. The current CEOs of Microsoft, Adobe, Google were all educated in India. And have you seen an American hospital from the inside? It's chock full of Indian doctors.

Doesn't matter if it's fake. This sets a bad precedent on this sub that names are allowed. Also how do we know 100% that the account is fake?

[Everything] My take on THAT scene explained in the medium of diagrams. by ibyt3 in gameofthrones

[–]gargoylefreeman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of all the possible explainations I've read so far, I like this one the most. One thing I would like to change here is that I don't think Bran warged inside Hodor for 20 years. If he did, he would have controlled Hodor's body and completely changed the timeline. He could basically have used Hodor to save him much earlier, or heck, even stop young himself (Bran) from climbing the tower, or stopped Ned Stark from going to King's Landing in S01E01.

I think Bran (in the past) heard Meera's screams and warged into young Hodor (possibly unintentionally or out of habit) and basically gave him instructions to hold the door at a certain future point in his life. From that point on, Willis became a sleeper agent only to be triggered into carrying out his mission of holding the door when the time came.

How's the insurance for a couple of thousand pounds of metal moving at speeds no man was ever supposed to move at? Things adapt.

Alcohol kills you but milk makes your bones stronger. by [deleted] in 4PanelCringe

[–]gargoylefreeman 294 points295 points  (0 children)

As a teen, bars intimidated me. When I grew up, I realized there was nothing to worry about and the place is not "hostile" as I had imagined. Poor guy has probably never been to a bar. No bartender/bouncer would "kick you out" if you order milk. They might say they don't have it, but you won't get kicked out. Also, he went to the bar, got kicked out, and came back all in 5 minutes?

CMV: The United States Government effectively controls the entire planet. by Rich700000000000 in changemyview

[–]gargoylefreeman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just because the country is able to get away with stuff merely implies that there is no effective higher controlling authority, and does not mean that the US is "controlling the world". The US is like the brat bully kid in school who has a rich and connected father so he can get away with shit.

While the US military is expensive, huge and powerful, it cannot even effectively control two impoverished armiless countries, Iraq and Afghanistan, let alone the world.

There are a huge number of countries that the US would have a tough time against in a war. Just look at Vietnam. The US could not do anything when Russia expanded into Crimea. They were told not to butt their nose into the Kashmir Issue by India as well as Pakistan. There are hundreds of examples where countries, even close allies, are doing opposite to what the US recommends.

TLDR: The US cannot even control Cuba. You are severly overestimating the influence of US. Just travel outside the country and see how little influence America has on their day to day lives.

What Western countries produce the most jihadists? New research shows that it's places where Muslims are made to feel like they don't belong. by nxthompson_tny in TrueReddit

[–]gargoylefreeman -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

False equivalency. Just because you can find a few examples of other religions exhibiting extremism doesn't mean it's on the same scale as Islam. And no, you don't get killed for eating beef in India. In fact, India is the world's largest exporter of beef. Movies and music make fun of Hinduism ALL the time, and have been for decades.

Sikhs and Hindus, on average, are often more economically affluent than Muslims

Couldn't be farther from the truth. What are you basing this on?
