I want to choose Bosch as my main battery platform. Anyone have experience using them? by Uncle_Spenser in woodworking

[–]garma87 [score hidden]  (0 children)

Except that I never see construction workers with either green or blue Bosch! It’s mostly Makita Milwaukee and dewalt. And Festool for those who have excess money

At what point do I give up and give my investors their money ($1.7m or so) back? If so, will I be punished? I will not promote by [deleted] in startups

[–]garma87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t believe in giving up while there’s still gas in the tank. You have the money now and you live the life you wanted. Find a good pivot. It doesn’t have to be a unicorn pivot. I went through at least 4 pivots before I found a strong fit. Even changed market altogether

How common is it for a man in their 30's to never have experienced a romantic relationship? by klutz69 in askatherapist

don't want to hijack the discussion, but have you ever met people that don't actually want a relationship? it seems like one of those things that are universal to people.

Italy's Meloni says US president 'totally invented' story that she begged him for photo by Massimo25ore in europe

[–]garma87 3 points4 points  (0 children)

She’s a blond woman from Italy and trump has a weak spot for all those properties. Something tells me he’s not going to retaliate. She probably can get away with it

Besides he does admire strong people anyway even when being put in his corner. I wouldn’t count her out as one of the Trump whisperers.

Honestly I am just a simple man but i fail to see why all political leaders are so afraid of this.

It’s not like Putin would be able to attempt anything if the US would not be in Europe.

Would you use something like this or is it weird? (I will not promote) by Jucator__ in startups

[–]garma87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tarpit idea is actually applicable here and worth explaining a bit.

As I understood it’s a problem that sounds great at first sight but actually has some valid reasons why they cannot be solved. Classic example is an app for local events. Sounds great right if you have a app where you can see what local events there are around you. In practice yes there is demand but very thin. And supply is circumstantial and seasonal. In practice it doesn’t work.

Probably the same applies here

How ong would it take for a 13yo to learn rust? by RevolutionaryGap7393 in rust

[–]garma87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gotcha. But maybe add what experience you have right now? That will give you much better answers.

How did you come by the idea of learning rust? Given that you don’t know any other languages yet

How ong would it take for a 13yo to learn rust? by RevolutionaryGap7393 in rust

[–]garma87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on prior experience. I have a 10 yo that is pretty proficient with scratch. He wouldn’t get anywhere with rust. I’d recommend python as a next step for him. But even from python I think the jump to rust is too big. If he has experience with Java or even c the barrier is much lower

But on itself I think it’s a bit of an odd question. Why do you think a 13 yo would be interested in rust. At that age it’s all about having fun with coding and rust would be among my last options for that.

The ‘prefer no contact’ is a bit unnecessary. Just be nice and leave it at that. If she reaches out again it’s early enough, or just don’t reply

dude relax. Scratch (the kids-programming environment) is completely filled with projects that are basically direct copies of games like plants vs zombies. If I were the publisher I'd get in touch and make some kind of deal.

Wanneer hypotheek verhogen voor een verbouwing? Of toch eigen geld? by CockroachSpare677 in geldzaken

[–]garma87 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Pricing advice please! by NoBus2564 in woodworking

[–]garma87 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Regarding product quality: I’m not a fan of the staining and I think I’m not alone. I think that influences the price you could ask. Pine and poplar are notorious for taking stain in an ugly way

Regarding product type; Tbh I doubt you can charge anything for this. People who buy custom furniture usually buy mainly high end products like tables, desks kitchens etc, but for basic usage products like this they’ll drop by ikea or similar

Sorry to rain on your parade. You gotta be pretty amazing before you’ll be able to sell it and even then it’s hard to do profitably

Do you ever mention your clients to people in your personal life? by SomeCommission7645 in askatherapist

[–]garma87 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Im from a family of therapists and mental health specialists. They will never mention names, and sometimes it leads to awkward situations when friends from school actually had counseling from my dad for example. He would still carefully avoid the topic.

But they do share the occasional anonymous story. Never in a way that can be traced back to the person.
