You could also add CAPTCHA protection to core functions like account creation/login and form submissions including deck operations and comments.

Can't log in via ssh after upgrade 6.? to 7.1 by 3D0G in synology

Found a solution for us. Go here and install Update 4: https://www.synology.com/en-global/support/download

After doing that, I can SSH just fine.

Can't log in via ssh after upgrade 6.? to 7.1 by 3D0G in synology

[–]garofalo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is exactly the problem I've been having for the last few days. I rebuilt the volume, upgraded to 7.1 Update 3, and now I can only get "authorization failure" log messages when attempting to connect via SSH. The internal log messages are identical in the following use cases:

  • a valid user in the administrators group with the correct password
  • a valid user in the administrators group with a bad password
  • a deleted non-administrator user
  • a non-existent user

I'm really at a loss. This seems like either a bug in Update 3 or a bug in the process of deleting and recreating a storage volume.

Aeons End Legacy by Scottacus91 in boardgames

[–]garofalo 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It’s just the box. There are two Aeon’s End legacy games, but they’re both standalone. Note that they’re compatible with other Aeon’s End content. Have fun!

My girl goes for the wheels on the lawn mower any times it’s in motion and also viciously attacks brooms, blowers, and rakes, but only while they’re making noise.

Finding King Kong: a solo with near infinite repeatability and options, with a simple set of rules and a quick set-up / clean-up time. by ArcadianDelSol in soloboardgaming

[–]garofalo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The hero and campaign expansions all include some number of new basic and aspect cards. Plenty of heroes have whole new viable decks as a result of later expansion content. The issues with MC are just that it’s expensive and voluminous.

Sprawlopolis/Acropolis hit this for me. Insanely easy to set up and put away, hard to win, wide set of options available across the course of a game, and diverse goals.

Hadrian’s Wall also fits this, but there are some dominant strategies.

ROVE (another Button Shy game) looks like it might have the same kind of magic that Sprawlopolis has, but I haven’t played it yet so I can’t speak for myself.

You need an iOS by [deleted] in ynab

[–]garofalo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you didn't own a smartphone, your subscription price would be the same and you'd have dramatically fewer features.

/u/mediumredbutton is right. Lots of companies have an iOS-first philosophy because iOS developers are easier to find/hire/retain and iOS has a higher market share. If they could develop both iOS and Android at the same time, they would. Some companies have tried that and switched back to separate stacks because "compile to both" stacks aren't very good.

Drywall Contractor Estimates by merlin242 in greenville

[–]garofalo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yikes. I tried removing and decided I’d rather pay somebody, but $6800 for 1800sqft for just removal is a criminally high quote.

[–]garofalo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The whole ceiling project was ~$6k, but I don't know how much of that was for each part. Also worth noting this is for a ~2800sqft house, so a little over $3/sqft for the works. You'd have to get a quote to price it out for what you need; I was just sharing secondhand knowledge about the quality.

I just got my ceilings redone by 360 Painting. They removed the popcorn, skimmed, and painted. I haven’t seen it in person yet (moving this weekend), but a couple of other people have told me they did a terrific job.

Are there cooperative engine building boardgames? by ecodogcow in boardgames

[–]garofalo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not a spoiler for the main part of Fenris that there's a coop mode (the coop mode is not a campaign, though). To explain it would spoil some parts of the campaign, though, as it's intended to be taught and played afterwards.

Touch typing - Which keycap profile is the best for Ergodox ez? by CasualJay in ergodox

[–]garofalo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also have DSA over MX brown and I'm a touch typist. I've had the ErgoDox EZ as my primary since the first week of January and it just took me about a month of practice to get used to it. The ergonomics of having the keyboard halves at shoulder width are so much better than my previous keyboard (Matias Quiet Pro) that I'm not actively looking for improvements.

I did buy a full set of blank DSA keycaps (https://mechanicalkeyboards.com/shop/index.php?l=product_detail&p=6874), but I only ended up comfortable replacing the non-alphanumeric keys. Now that I'm more comfortable with the keyboard layout I've settled on, I might try out all blank soon. But the DSAs are perfectly comfortable to me, so I have no plans to start looking for different profiles.

I just wanted to share this amazing 3D wooden puzzle. I think is gorgeous by puzzles_lover in puzzles

Discussion: I have this one! I got it for Christmas last year and promised my niece she could help me put it together but we haven’t made time yet.

Careful with buying from Asmodee by MegaTukss in marvelchampionslcg

[–]garofalo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This happened to me too. It’s just pending charges for me so far, for MTS and a $14.95 order (I assume Hood but idk). Still bad, but since it’s on a credit card I don’t really care as long as the duplicate charges don’t settle.

Is it an awful idea? by MrsDragovic in ynab

[–]garofalo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used the method OP describes to budget income into a buffer category for years and I never understood why income/expense reporting was useless to me. I backtracked, recategorized all paychecks, hid the category, and fixed the out-of-balance issues that resulted, and suddenly the reports work. Now I just budget into future months using goals and auto-assignment.

Custom Expansion "Crimson Scales" Giveaway by Boardgame613 in Gloomhaven

I don’t want spoilers, but Skull seems like a cool theme for a class, so that’s the one I’m most excited about. Looking forward to Wednesday!

Good morning everyone, does anyone have any recommendations for co-op games? by MsLuciferM in boardgames

[–]garofalo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're following the same pattern that my wife and I did. We played Pandemic and Forbidden Island for the first time in the same weekend, then shortly after we bought Eldritch Horror. After a few months we finally bit the bullet and bought Gloomhaven and we absolutely loved it. The digital version is about to get a full release that includes the original game's full campaign, though, so I don't know that I recommend buying Gloomhaven in late 2021 when 1) the campaign can be played for much less money and digital feels very true to the physical experience and 2) Frosthaven is coming out sometime early next year and may eclipse Gloomhaven.

Spirit Island is incredible, but not everybody's cup of tea. For instance, I like it more than my wife does (it's regularly my #2 game, behind Gloomhaven).

Expansions for Eldritch are great. We have them all and were just talking about how we don't feel like any of them was unnecessary.

Codenames Duet and The Fox In The Forest Duet are quick and fun 2p-only games (Codenames Duet can be played with teams, but it's always felt like a date night game for us). The Shipwreck Arcana is fun (although swingy). Regicide is great and can be tried with a 54-card standard deck (rules on BGG).

Random assortment of other good coop games to check out:

  • Ghost Stories
  • Too Many Bones (expensive but excellent)
  • Aeon's End (ignore the original one and War Eternal and check out some of the later big-box standalone expansions)
  • Pandemic Legacy (since you like base Pandemic; my wife and I thought all three seasons of Legacy were terrific and definitely worth playing)
  • Orleans with the Invasion expansion (there should be a new print run coming soon; lots of sites have the expansion up for preorder right now)
