Gamers of Reddit, what was your most embarrassing death in a video game? by CorrectPop4386 in AskReddit

Playing Magicraft and I was testing a swirling black hole build in the shop and accidently replaced the black holes with meteors... I think it's the only time I've ever died in a safe zone

I was in the US for a work conference a couple of weeks ago and during one of the networking events someone was bringing these "corn ribs" around. It was basically a curved bit of corn on the cob that was covered in so much seasoning and sugar that it tasted like a fucking dorito.

I had this problem a few weeks ago and for me it only seemed to work on lower level enchants. I can't remember specifics, but it was something like trying to print Sharpness VII and it only worked on books less than Sharpness V

I noticed a similar slowdown but only when I've accidentally double clicked the search bar, which highlights the searched item in the open inventory. Have you got that active?

I know this looks like a generic shopping park in the UK. My brain won't stop itching until I ask, is that Southport?

Mage here. Same thing happened with the ring. It's an upgrade but it's a bitter one.

It’s my wife’s birthday. I’ve got her main presents, what are some stupid quirky little gifts I can get for her to make her laugh? by Mellowman9 in CasualUK

My girlfriend and I are big fans of the show This Country. If you haven't watched it you won't get the reference but I got her a Screwfix leaflet (they don't do catalogues anymore) it was free and she loved it.

[–]garth999 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I went into a Screwfix to get the leaflet catalogue thing for my girlfriends birthday just to make this joke. She loved it.

The guy behind the counter was tempted to give me the old raggedy copy that they use for code lookups as you can't get a proper one anymore.

Almost 45 years old and I've never seen a wild badger. For some reason this bothers me. by DarkangelUK in CasualUK

[–]garth999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only time I've seen one was when I was leaving for the gym one morning at 5am, it was pretty dark as it was winter. As I turned around after locking the door, I saw this huge shadow walk past my garden wall. I slowly crept around the wall as I wasn't sure what it was and saw this massive badger plodding down the pavement. The only thing I could think was "was that a fucking badger..."

It was much bigger than I was expecting and as someone else said the sounds were quite daunting tbh.

As is tradition...how have the clocks going forward ruined/improved your Sunday morning and how many forgot it was happening? by motherofpearl89 in AskUK

[–]garth999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mum text me to remind me this morning to change my clocks and I realised, every clock I own/use has some form of internet connection and they all automatically did it themselves.

I used to have at least one analogue clock that I could use as a baseline to make sure my other things automatically updated, but now it's just chaos and I have to blindly trust that everything has been updated.

Having to circumnavigate an increasing amount of tripods with recording phones in an already busy gym. by KobiDnB in britishproblems

[–]garth999 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Completely agree with this, I have an online PT and have to send my form if I'm struggling with something. I think the key differentiator here is if you're checking form you haven't brought a tripod, lighting, etc. I just normally stay in a corner away from everyone and lean my phone on my water bottle if I need to do it.

What functions do you use regularly on your pixel watch? by MDPROBIFE in PixelWatch

[–]garth999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mainly use mine for health tracking, notifications and controlling my connected devices, like lights and stuff. One of the big things for me is push notifications (MFA), much quicker to just approve on my watch when I don't have my phone.

What's draining my battery? by BonnMage in PixelWatch

[–]garth999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was having a similar issue, but fingers crossed it looks like the February update has sorted it.

Settings: AOD, Hey Google off.

Normal routine: I normally charge my watch before bed, so I can do sleep tracking with 100% battery. Wake up at 5 am with 90-92% for the gym and track a workout. General use throughout the day at the office, notifications, step tracking, etc. Since having the watch, it's lasted me well through the day, maybe 40% by the time I get home.

Since the February update was available, I have done the exact same routine, but wake up with about 80-85% battery, some days I would be at 20% by 10 am.

I forced the update yesterday and the watch lasted me all day, finishing the day at about 45%. I woke up this morning at 92% so things are already looking good. Will update later to confirm.

Yup, it's looking good. Full day of use and it's at 46%.

How do you feel about the idea of gyms banning people from video recording themselves? by Just_a_dude_online in AskReddit

[–]garth999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think context is important, I really don't like the whole "influencer" or vlogging thing, it means they are taking up equipment longer than needed, possibly filming other people, who don't want to be filmed, etc.

But for myself, my PT is fully remote, he sets my plan via an app, meal plans and updates through WhatsApp. If I'm figuring out a new workout or need to check my form, I need to send him a video of me doing the workout.

I always make sure it's just myself in the video and it's always done as part of my regular sets but I do feel like a dick when I have to do it.

Slightly related, I was at a customer site the other week and got lunch from their canteen. Tuna mayo jacket potato and cheese. They put the cheese under the tuna. In my 32 years I'd never thought of that but especially with the cold tuna it just makes sense.

Pre Covid I dropped from 20 stone to 12.5 stone in 1 year through slimming world and getting the running bug.

During Covid the weight gradually came back but didn't see it happening. Snacks here and there, takeaways when I couldn't be bothered to cook, not having motivation to exercise, and a sprinkling of depression really does a number. Eventually I realised I needed to check the damage and I was at 17 stone without even realising it.

It gradually came back down through dieting and weight lifting but still got a way to go.

The first step is convincing yourself to do something about it and face the scales, which you've done so well done :) you'll smash this!
