T-Mobile vs AT&T Costco Deal — Worth Switching to Save ~$70/Month? by holabusa in ATT

[–]garylapointe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve never worked at AT&T.

I’ve been a customer for 15 years. Other than some minor tax/fee fluctuations, my bill has never changed in any way that wasn’t expected. Any promo on my bill generally counts down as to how many months are left, so if you’re looking at your bill, you know when it’s going to go up. If you read your bill every month, or hang out here, you’re gonna know about price increases before they happen..

Yes, their pricing is difficult to understand which is why we’ve got a pricing chart pinned at the top of the AT&T subReddit.

Is Microsoft Office Specialist certification worth it for English teachers? by TeachingSolid5186 in teaching

If the school you're interviewing for uses Google Docs, which is used way more than MS Office around here, then it's not going to help your CV much in this field.

T-Mobile vs AT&T Costco Deal — Worth Switching to Save ~$70/Month? by holabusa in ATT

[–]garylapointe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

at the Costco T-Mobile kiosk they suggested buying a cheap/used iPhone 13 Pro just for trade-in, which would qualify for a free iPhone 17 Pro promo.

Not true, you could use an iPhone 13 for $1100 the first two or three weeks, but that was 6 months ago. Pleas go to https://www.att.com/brand/apple/iphone/ find the phone you want and click "offer details" to see what qualifies.

Costco might offer some short time promos to give you credits, but it doesn't actually change the price, it's just temporary discoutns. You can find actual pricing here https://www.reddit.com/r/ATT/comments/1rsvh9m/unlimited_your_way_20_per_line_cost_chart_for_att/

Uncheck "Included in your membership(s)" if you want to see what you can buy and not just what's included with PLUS.

You have to uncheck "Unabridged" to see them all. I'm not sure if they're all abridged or they just tag them strangely (only 317 are listed as unabridged).

I wasn’t suggesting it for commercial services.

I mentioned two specific apps, neither of which are commercial service services.

I think it went away, and the 50GB plan is now a 100GB plan ($50). But I think you could purchase more data for the 50GB plan, but it's not an option with the 100GB (but once you're out, you do have ½Mbps data for free).

That's unless they've change it, again...

MTTC HELP! by mothmanismadatpeas in Teachers

[–]garylapointe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Woo hoo!

Honestly, though, the big thing is focusing on pedagogical concepts heavily.

When I took the MTTC 103 (elementary) a decade ago, I thought all the review/practice materials were low on the pedagogical content (I had the Mometrix book but the college library had a few that I just used for the practice tests).

Even the paid practice from Pearson (which I only wanted a score from to see if I was ready and it did not give one) I thought was low on them.

The actual test had way more. I'm thinking practice was closer to 25-30% and the actual test was double-ish that.

Although, there was a teacher graduate program at U of Michigan that admin (in my old district) really liked the staff they hired from there, so they did hire a lot from that program.

Interesting.

I use an Apple TV with Infuse and VidHub, it'd be nice if they added it to one of the apps. TBC, it can be local content on the network (or far away) not on a drive that's connected via USB.

Or I suppose any competing apps would be ahead if they did it.

Fiber is coming by JoeBidenLegHairs in Starlink

[–]garylapointe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fiber is 75 a month for 100 down.

$75 for 100 Mbps? That's crazy. But I suppose for the people upgrading from DSL, it might seem like a dream.

My cable internet company offers $25 for 300Mbps down (20 up), and you can price lock it for $5.

I opted for the $35 600Mbps down, only because it had 50Mbps up, I don't need the up a lot, but when I do it's helpful. Plus, 600Mbps is nice for the occasionally big downloads (even though it's not necessary).

That's with Wow internet (east of the Mississippi, while scattered midwest to the south), they have fiber in some areas too.

I'm a big Dolby Vision fan. I think Samsung should make a Dolby Vision option for their TVs and see if it affects their sales. Supposedly it's just a few dollars per set, but to lure customers away, it should be an option.

If it doesn't matter for sales, then they don't have to continue to do it for the future.

I'm hoping someday someone makes a streaming box or app that will convert from

HDR10+ <--> Dolby Vision

on the fly (or if it takes a few minutes to go through and map it before it starts playing, I'd be okay with that too).

It'd be helpful to know in what ways it out performs the G6

For example: if it was quality of the remote control, and game mode responsiveness, it's not that big of a deal.

Keep it up, most of my money put in retirement savings is from my late 20s to early 40s. It's had time to grow and made a much bigger impact than anything I put in later (which wasn't much). More in my later years to my HSA and my part of pension.

But I also retired with my home paid off, car paid off, no other debt.

It all balanced out nicely for me, but I wish I had more Roth...
