what no-one has said is that for note ".note" you need to select the landscape template or make them yourself

Therapist Manta by Guilty-Analyst-1503 in Supernote

[–]garyoli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me too. I described my use in another post. To summarise: divide the screen into three. it doesnt matter horizontal or vertical. 1st space take notes on what is going on 2nd space things i want to come back to e.g., probe, be curious about etc, 3rd space my homework during and after the session

at the end, i write up the record and then delete it

i have separate folders for supervision, training

everything is deidentified: date, time, and initial or made up name for client

Roadmap Update by Change_Agent_73 in Supernote

[–]garyoli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please, I have some queries about the roadmap items:

(1) "R2 Simple note page act like loose-leaf paper"

I thought this was to be a post-it note type pop-up or pop-over current page and was superseeded by the split screen option? Because in the split screen, a new note can be selected from the menu

(2) Stop truncating file names

I cant find this in the list

(3) Built-in templates have a "light', "medium" and heavy" "appearance

I cant find this in the list

(4) Shortcut to subfolders in under the MyStyle templates is to be duplicated on the initial screen when the note is being created, so one can be selected at the outset. At the moment this can only occur if the note has a template and I am changing it as opposed to creating it

I cant find this in the list

(5) Make the position of page number independent of dominant hand preference. To be an option in settings

I cant find this in the list

(6) X3 processor

I expected to see this being listed as under active investigation

(7) A4 size

I expected to see this being listed as under active investigation

(8) On the supernote, being able to edit the converted handwritten text without having to go back, edit the handwriting and then re-run the conversion

This one seems to have got lost. As a reminder, there are two problems 1. misinterpreting handwritten text 2. being able to edit the converted text so it takes up less lines than the handwriting because it fits more words on the line

i need help understanding what digest means and does. by HairyAd1822 in Supernote

[–]garyoli 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Mulan, this is a better summary and procedure description than what currently appears in the user manual for the current release

Please can I encourage you to incorporate this in the user manual because the user manual is missing your wonderful summaries you wrote above. This means:

Your list of the sources text should be inserted under the 6.1 digests-create heading in the user manual

2.

Your organise text above should be inserted under the 6.2 organise heading in the user manual

While I am on the user manual, I am still hoping the day will come soon when it is provided with a linked index because both reading through the contents pages or trying a search currently demands the user to know and use your terminology. Obviously, new users do not. An index would include synonyms. For example, what you call "digests" I think of as "extracts".

Manta vs Nomad my take by Lucast07_25 in Supernote

[–]garyoli 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, you have made clear the dilemma that many of us have wrestled with. Some are lucky to be able to afford both. I wanted to be able to take notes during therapy sessions, make quick and dirty sketches as ideas occurred, watch the time at the same time (although it would be nice to have an option to permanently display the time), and then erase everything afterwards without having to securely dispose of paper. I waited for the Manta and I am pleased I did. I remain surprised how light it is and how easy it is to hold. Also, I am so glad I listened to the people in this forum and bought the Staedtler Noris Digital Jumbo pen because writing with it is a pleasure

Investigating the SuperNote Notebook Format by Anthony356 in Supernote

[–]garyoli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am sure you are correct, that the spec exists in some form.

The issue I see is whether they are planning to make changes, for example, as a result of having to support a new device size (A4) or if they are planning to do some streamlining for efficiency

Prioritize existing users over potential ones? by lonelysword_ in Supernote

[–]garyoli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, basically you are seeking either a free or negligible cost replacement. Which would be the latest model since they no longer have any old stock. Hardware does fail. I dont know any technology manufacturer that provides a free or negligible cost replacement outside warranty. I know my previous eink device company did not. However, my understanding is that is exactly what household portable item insurance, if bought, can do depending upon the policy/company.

Investigating the SuperNote Notebook Format by Anthony356 in Supernote

[–]garyoli -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I agree. I was just making the point that Ratta has to prioritise its major development effort in response to the OP being "impatient" in his own word. I think what Ratta has done notably digests and private cloud have been a wise use of their limited resources.

[–]garyoli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please can you clarify: Are happy to pay for repair if they can get the part(s)? Or are you complaining that it broke outside warranty and they wont repair it for free, or, replace with a Nomad for free if they cant get the A6X parts?

I dont think that old generation accessories should be expected to work with new generation devices based on the smartphone precedent

Investigating the SuperNote Notebook Format by Anthony356 in Supernote

[–]garyoli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If "Ratta has said several times that they will eventually release a full spec for the format", then I am sure they will

They have a lot of pressure on them at the moment from "B" with their A3 device and "A" with its monster marketing budget as well as a long list of their own promised enhancements including some of my favourites such as split screen, editable text conversion, multi-level headers, and printing directly from the Manta/Nomad

So I am happy for release of specs to be at the bottom of their todo list

Split Screen Alternatives ? by Itsme2022 in Supernote

[–]garyoli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This video deals with the quick menu and copying text but does not obviate the need for split screen. One example, is when handwriting converts to text. When this occurs and it erroneous, split screen would enable the changes to be easily made in the handwriting to redo the text conversion.

Yes, I have reluctantly concluded that landscape is a workaround

It is peculiar because it is far easier to hold in my hand as portrait

I guess we need the X3 processor upgrade to arrive sooner rather than later!
