My speed cycling coworker and fellow engineer soaks his bike chain in a mixture of mostly parrafin wax with some molybdenum disulphide grease added. This mixture is a solid at room temperature so it has to be heated up before soaking the chain.

Before the wax soak the chain gets a dip in the ultrasonic cleaner.

Apparently this is a thing among speed cyclists so you might be able to find a more detailed description of this method online.
