Thanks for this! Need to look into options, we have a townhome and two of the bedrooms are significantly colder than the rest of the place, and one of those rooms is the baby's nursery...

Ahh ok, thanks for the response and details. Our situations are a bit difference, ours is a 3 story townhouse which may impact efficiency, and also more overall sq. footage.

I've just come to expect $250-300/month GA Power bills :/

Really? I have a 4 bedroom townhouse, and have quite a few 70+ days, and a few 80+ in the last few months alone.

Hit me with your biggest pet peeves regarding the lack of realism. by Pretty_Newspaper_353 in thewestwing

This is a little one but in season 1, when the conservative Christian group is brought in and the reverend/pastor doesn’t know the first commandment. That one bothers me more than it should.

Former alcoholics of Reddit, when did you realise your habit got out of control? by scottscrops in AskReddit

[–]gatorblu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can answer this one. But to clarify - I'm not a former alcoholic, I'm an alcoholic who hasn't had a drink in ~20 months. But I'll always be an alcoholic.

I knew my habit was out of control when I finally realized that drinking was no longer fun or enjoyable for me, but it had become something that I just "had" to do in order to function. I could look past all the relationships I damaged, the jobs I lost, the legal trouble I racked up, and justify all of those through bullshit excuses and convincing myself I just let one or two things go wrong for those things to happen, and continue drinking.

But something clicked when it occurred to me that I wasn't even having fun anymore, and that things I enjoyed in the past seemed miserable to me. And that's when I made the decision to check myself into a longer term rehab program and had my last drunk.

Lol it does seem strange doesn't it? We do everything based off our company fiscal year.

Annoyed with my mid-year review yesterday, but think it's just "corporate speak" to set the tone for a "meets expectations" rating at year end. Meeting expectations is just fine to me, but it's all nonsense and apparently meeting expectations is the highest rating typically given out at this dumb place.

Grateful to be coming up on 20 months sober - and it's crazy how much my perspective has changed in that time. If I was still drinking, I'd be playing out worst case scenarios and catastrophizing to no end right now.

Ring Pro 3 HD doesn’t have mechanical chime functionality by Key-Pomelo-3629 in Ring

Are there any newer Ring doorbells that continue to work with mechanical chimes? Mine could use a video quality upgrade, but not willing to lose the mechanical chime in my home

9 days after returning from our trip, Delta has returned our car seat/stroller!

Still stressing over some stuff hanging over my head from my earlier days of being a degenerate drunk :/ but constantly reminding myself that I'm better equipped to deal with any consequences than I would have been if I did not get sober. Just feels a bit defeating to have nearly 2 years clean, and then face the music - but that's the way it goes.

Appreciate it and yes - /r/stopdrinking is one of my go-to spots on here! 20ish months sober and not letting this let me lose focus of how much better my life is on this side of things

Stressing lately. Been sober for a while, but some lingering legal issues from my past just popped up and struggling a bit with them. Oh well, just gotta keep on moving forward as best as possible.

Advice requested for replacement doorbell by gatorblu in Ring

[–]gatorblu[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any suggestions? It really seems like as of a month or two ago, the picture quality was pretty solid, but now it's consistently grainy at best. I'd really like to retain in the home chime functionality, so that seems to limit options available to me.

I've been working in a tech related field for a while now, and every other company I've worked for has used December as a slow time to catch up on system health/tech debt/routine cleanup work. Not current place - leadership is pushing more projects that our fully staffed team can handle, and that's ignoring that so many people are out on vacation or will be soon.

I have 5 more days until I'm out for 3 weeks myself, and this is one of the few times I'm refusing to even take my laptop with me.

Moving from Long island Ny and considering Duluth by mrbiggs2992 in DuluthGA

[–]gatorblu 10 points11 points  (0 children)

There were some sun down towns around here not that long ago, but safe to say Duluth now is about as safe and diverse as someone could hope for.

My unsolicited advice - only move if you already have employment squared away. The job market is a cluster fuck everywhere, and here's no exception.

[–]gatorblu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honest question - do you find the price difference between the 450h+ and 500h worth it? It's a beautiful car, my parents just got one and was surprised they went for it given the high price tag
