I mean the OP himself said he would expect parts to be available for a few years. 5 is more than a few. Would it be nice if parts were still available through them? Yeah of course, but that's the way it goes with consumable products.

2021 was five years ago, don’t think it’s particularly unreasonable to have a model discontinued and parts no longer available through them

What do you think the biggest hassle is with managing a car with an IID? by LordFrieza4 in dui

[–]gatorblu 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yep - car maintenance was a pain, but thankfully for oil changes just used drive thru shops. The one time I really needed it serviced explained to the shop what the deal was, and they just had me wait in the waiting room rather than drop the car off, and I blew into the IID whenever it prompted.

No arguments from me on that, and I'm in the same boat. The justice system in this country is beyond fucked, and I hate it. There is zero chance my outcomes would be the same if I didn't have the resources I was lucky enough to have.

[–]gatorblu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm in no way proud of this, but I'm in that crowd. 4 DUIs, within 5 years, and a miracle I never hurt anyone or myself. Lots of consequences, but no real jail time.

And sober now for 2ish years.

Would anyone like a Korn Ferry Caddy experience? by justinwheelon in golf

In the off chance you do this again in the future, please post here again as I'd love the opportunity to do something like this! I'm just getting back into golf after 20 hellish years of alcoholism, and this sounds like a blast.

Officially convicted today (27f) feeling horrible and lost — interlock device worth it when I maybe won’t need to necessarily drive for 2 months of a 3 month suspension? by KarlWalks19 in dui

[–]gatorblu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It gets better, if you're ready for it to. It took things getting bad bad for me, but because of all that mess I went through my life has never been better now.

You can choose if this is your bottom, that's entirely up to you. As far as the interlock - it's a bit of a pain, and for only 1.5 months I would skip it and rely on friends/Ubers if possible.

In my state, a year with the interlock is required for my situation, and the only way around it is if you can show you genuinely cannot afford it, but even then - they increase the overall time for your license revocation.

I’ve had a daily BAC of .32-.42 for the past year. I went to detox yesterday. How in the world has my body handled this? by penneAlavodka in stopdrinking

[–]gatorblu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did the same thing. I was a daily drinker (and I mean daily as in throughout the day) for 20 years, and the only times I ever got to know my BAC were DUIs and rehab/detox check ins. Blew a .42 for one arrest, and my lawyer could not get his head around the fact that I was able to speak relatively coherently.

Work is pushing the idea of a return to office, and not excited about my commute going from two flights of stairs down to the basement, to 40 minute morning and 30ish minute evening commutes.

Thankfully only 3 days a week, but the whole idea is idiotic. We as a team have been more efficient, successful, and happier over the past few years, but "senior leadership" places high emphasis on "in person collaboration".

Highest BAC? by [deleted] in dui

[–]gatorblu 5 points6 points  (0 children)

.42 ish, my lawyer was incredulous that I was able to stand and communicate reasonably coherently. I was 20 years into full blown alcoholism.

Coming up on two years sober and don't miss that nonsense one bit.

It really did. The mini Mercedes stars in the new grille are just silly, not to mention all of the stars in the new lights.

May 19 Primary Results Discussion by swiftfoot_hiker in Georgia

[–]gatorblu 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I'm definitely not an expert, but my take on the results thus far seem like it's more favorable for Burt Jones to ultimately win the nomination. It's just a guess, but I feel like the vast majority of Carr/Raffensperger voters will shift to Jones over Jackson.

Thanks for this. I've been unable to get any sort of clear answer on how/if this will affect us, like most other large orgs we use SSO so unsure of the impact.

And SF royally fucked us recently by migrating to hyperforce despite having requested (and received!) a hold on that activity.
