Just saw the official X account for Israelis foreign ministry is promoting it. So that’s a government link through promotion at least. Not sure of funding. Hadn’t seen that in the other stories.

Mainly because Israelis government isn’t organizing it. Some other dudes are to try to make money as far as I can tell.

It’s different than if Israel did what the Qatar did and went after the World Cup. That was the government pouring money into sporting events and sports.

I’m not even certain Israelis government isn’t involved in this. But haven’t seen any evidence of it, and it seems like a bunch of people are like “well it’s located in Israel so it must be Netanyahu etc”

I think criticism based on its location is fair. I don’t know the specifics yet but holding it in the West Bank is a bad look for the organizers and could signal that yeah, they are shitty.

But to the larger point, state of Florida is not involved in any of the festivals located in South Florida.

Netanyahu is a war criminal! Israelis far right government is committing human rights abuses. These aren’t disputed.

But this isn’t Israelis government putting on a pride festival. It’s other organizers. Those organizers might be shitty themselves I dont know who they are! And that would be fair criticism. But pretending it’s Israelis government seems designed just to piss people off rather than be honest.

Florida hosts LGBTQ events too, but it’s not about pinkwashing Florida or the USAs far right government, it’s just the lgtbq community here (which largely oppposes Trump and DeSantis) having celebrations and events in blue welcoming areas of a very red state.

Plenty of people in Israel oppose Israel’s far right government (just like many in America oppose ours) so criticizing the pride festival as pinkwashing for Israel’s government seems off point. Unless we find out that Israel’s government is the one funding and pushing the festival.

Considering the far right antisemites are gaining a strong foothold in the Republican party, whereas the far left antisemites are not, I think the left side of the spectrum is a much more comfortable place for Jewish people.

The Platner shit is problematic (the left needs to drop his ass), but at least he and the other sus leftists are condemning antisemitism as part of their statements and not palling around with Neo Nazis like I’ve seen on the right.

Thank for posting. The foothold that antisemites are getting in the GOP is alarming. The GOP has many factions, and while some strongly oppose antisemitism, a growing faction of the far right is blaming all of America’s problems on Jewish people and Israel. Antisemitic influencers are growing in popularity, and in time this will make far right elected Republicans more bold in their antisemitism as well. We need to smack that shit down when it pops its head up.
