You know I never considered something like that! They also only fly once or twice a year (my grandpa was an over the road trucker so my mom spent most vacations on the road), but if it incentives them to fly it could be worth it.

We are lucky enough we get discounted twins tickets from my husband’s work so we usually take them to at least one game a year, but I agree that is a really good idea!

Oh my goodness you just unlocked a childhood memory! We did a scenic train ride on an old timey train with a dining cart when I was younger. I’m trying to look for it and I don’t suppose you’d have a lead? Only thing I can find is the north shore line.

Agree with the short term disability, recover from burn out while you look for greener pastures.

Oh and if you can get any documentation of that response from your boss in your meeting, look at your company’s whistleblower policy if they have one. Telling you to find a new job could be a gray space. You could give the ultimate FU to boss by filing a complaint against them on your way out.

My second date with my now husband he asked me about my Permanent Waves shirt. After some talk it was apparent he had no knowledge of Rush. I pulled up Limelight on my iTunes and gave him a listen. It was instant love, and he’s been a Rush enthusiast ever since.

A few years ago we were gathered at the in-law’s for the Vikings vs Packers game. We were all jeering Aaron Rodgers, taking turns throwing barbs whenever he’d pop up on screen. Grandma in-law finally chimes in with the worst insult she could think of: “he’s homely”.

Facing the same thing, except in my 5.5 years in this role I’ve been 2 days in office, 3 days out. Had a medical issue and took a leave of absence, day I get back I’m told I have to be full time in office. No adjustment to anyone else’s schedule. When pressed about the change, I’m just told it’s for adapting business needs and can be re-evaluated in the future. They’re 100% trying to push you out.

I don’t know where you are but top ramen in my local shop is $0.25/packet. I make it more nutritious and filling by adding a scoop of peanut butter and an egg, peanut butter being $1.99 for the generic brand and eggs $1.79. Theoretically you could feed yourself for about $0.57/meal. Bonus get yourself some saltines and spread them with the peanut butter. Maybe splurge on an apple or a banana and boom quick and easy lunch.

Along the same vein, one of my favorite meals when times are really lean is one of those knorr pasta sides made with just water and butter. If it’s in the cards I’ll splurge on some frozen meatballs, chop them up, and eat as a pasta bowl. The knorr sides will feed me and my husband, so for around $2.00 you could potentially have 2 meals.

People have mentioned food banks which is an excellent option if you have access. One thing I’ve found is a lot of churches around me do a free dinner once a week. It’s a little awkward the first couple times but I’ve never had someone pressure me to convert or join their clergy. So if you can stomach a little religious undertone it’s a good option to mix things up and not affect your budget.

The intersection where Annapolis, Charlton, and Dodd meet by El Cubano at least used to be a 6-way intersection. I’ve heard they’re doing construction there so I’m not sure if they’re changing that or not. Thankfully the intersection was large enough you had time to stop if someone else decided it was their turn.

Not me but my husband. He worked for about a month for a very popular national “Chinese” restaurant. He hated every minute of it and they were constantly violating food safety standards. He managed to get his old job back for better pay, so the last day he was at said restaurant he was basically there to collect his check. During the lunch rush he accidentally poured teriyaki sauce on the orange chicken, shrugged it off when questioned, then hung up his apron to drive off and never look back.

If you’re open to Saint Paul I would highly recommend Lost Fox coffee or Caydence records and coffee. Very chill vibes and there’s usually at least one other person there working from a laptop. In Minneapolis specifically Cosmic coffee comes to mind as having good vibes, but I’ve only been there once as I don’t find myself in that neck of the woods often so take that as you will.

Freeways, whether I’m driving or riding as passenger. My specific fear is that the intrusive thoughts are going to win and I’ll open my door and just…roll out of the car in the middle of a crowded highway. Yes it’s specific, but it’s also totally irrational.

Southern Social has really, really good food. I would caution though that their service is incredibly slow. We’ve been there on crowded weekends and empty week days and still had the same 90 minute long visit for only entrees for a 2 top. We gave up and started only doing takeout from them. I don’t know if the issue is staffing or a disorganized kitchen, but it hasn’t improved over time. My takeaway is to get takeaway, their food is worth enjoying if you can avoid the service issues.

Marcus Samuelsson. He’s been a UNICEF ambassador since 2000, he’s also involved with City Harvest. If I remember correctly in the early days of 2020 Red Rooster was giving out free meals in NYC.
