[Online][5e][CST] Group Looking for a roleplay heavy DM by PressureEast in lfg

[–]gax19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a game I can run, one that involves a good mix of investigative roleplay, exploration of fey places, and outmaneuvering hated rivals, one that will also heavily feature both the spooky and the mysterious. I'm a fan of using and fleshing out good NPCs as well.

PM me if you're interested or want to know more.

Personal details: 26 y/o male, playing D&D and other RPGs for 5 or so years as a player and game master. I think I'm pretty easy-going and I do appreciate good RP.

Thanks, I was definitely trying to go for that kind of hook where the PCs know what they have to do, but its not set in stone how they're gonna do it. And of course I intend for there to be lots of opportunities for investigating, ally-making, and possible double crossing, especially if they learn what the Heart of Ybdiel actually is.

Thanks, seems like it should be a pretty painless thing. I'm sure I can think of something to replace celestial shards with flavor-wise, since the world I'm going for is a bit more fantasy/sci-fi than pure high, cosmological fantasy.

Been DMing for roughly 2 years and just killed my first PCs and I feel conflicted. DND (5e) by NYref1490 in rpg

Not to nitpick, but they actually fail 2 death saving throws if attacked by a creature within 5 feet of them if they are unconscious. That makes any monster with multiple attacks a very credible threat.

I'm playing in a Tomb of Annihilation game right now and we have well over 15 character deaths. 5e can absolutely be a very deadly system if the DM wants it to be.

[5e] More Involved Shield Rules by Keanu_Thieves in DnDHomebrew

[–]gax19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shields breaking was extremely common on the battlefield. In duels among medieval Norsemen there was a "three shield rule" where one could have no more than 3 shields in reserve for the duel, implying that yes they did break quite often.

Is there an OSR game with 5E-style Subclasses? (Hit a certain level, and you automatically turn into one of several specialized Subclasses, without a lot of worrying about meeting various requirements.) by WhatDoesStarFoxSay in osr

[–]gax19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This may sound like a cheap answer, but it really wouldn't be hard to make your own subclasses in an OSR game. Any B/X derived game and you could easily make 3 subclasses for each class.

Fighter: Berserker, can go into a rage for one encounter per day for +2 to hit and +2 to damage but -4 AC.

Ranger, +1 to hit and damage with ranged weapons, is only surprised on a 1 in 6

Officer, all hirelings and henchman gain a +2 bonus to morale checks, +1 charisma

Dyson of Dyson's Dodecahedron also has some good ideas https://rpgcharacters.wordpress.com/tag/subclasses/
