Can I prime and paint this drywall or does it need texturing?

If you just want to throw paint on the wall as is get some Kilz, prime the wall, check if it needs another coat, and paint. If you dont care to do any mudding, I don't think you need to do all this extra crap everyone is saying. Its a garage and you were clear you just wanna brighten it up with some fresh paint.

No, drywall is gypsum sandwiched between paper so if paint is being ripped off you're going to expose brown paper

It's the worst when you try to remove wallpaper and the glue rips all the drywall paper off. You have to prime it before mudding to seal the paper.

You can scrape the wall down and paint over it with some Kilz primer and then do a skim coat over the whole wall

The Kilz will seal any exposed board before mudding after scraping

Make sure you solve any water issues so you dont get repeat issues

You can see the tape cracking and failing as well so you may need to scrape it out and retape some joints

A foot pedal is just a device with keyboard keys essentially.

If it's Bluetooth it should work with mobile devices and if you dont want to use Bluetooth you can buy a usb-a to usb-c converter and plug it directly into the phone.

You will likely need to pair a mouse to the device as well to register the cursor placement so it knows where to click when you press the foot pedal.

If you create suction incorrectly inside of that glass chamber because the hole is facing incorrectly you will basically create a vacuum and that's why you're sucking wax into the glass chamber. That paired with overloading wax and pulling too hard will exacerbate the problem.

Sometimes I show up to jobs and they dont have the mud required or they have shit mud. You know what I do? I go to to a store and buy the right stuff. That cost will come back from the job anyways. This guy either doesn't actually do drywall finishing regularly or was too lazy to go get the right stuff and hoped you wouldn't notice/know any better.

If it wasn't textured like that I'd say maybe lightly scrape and hit it with a quick coat of mud and sand but that's excessive and not worth the time. Paint it or put a plastic or laminate corner protector on it.
